That must be a hefty momentary current drain as the fans kick in. Check they are not siezing up. I think they could be two stage fans too, this would suggest a resistor failure meaning they don't work on the lower speed so suddenly going from standing to full load. Did you not have the CC on? The fans should have been running then.

Remove the headlamp assembly, leave the bottom two screws in though, just loosen them enough to remove it. The assembly is a complete unit and just goes back in how it came out, no need to realign.
