does the 5000/6000 series radio have a built in amp or is it seperate? i was thinking of changing my original radio/cassette unit which i know runs on a seperate amp,and was wondering if it was a straight forward swap?

you might have to wind the pistons in (clockwise if i remember rightly) and open the bleed nipple to allow the brake fluid to escape-an ABS valve won't let the fluid back towards the master cylinder ,at least i had to on my 96 gal-yours might be different, other than that a pretty straightforward job

1.9tdi Auy Engine Problem
familyman replied to Mark & Cath's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
How badly is it smoking? if the turbo seals have gone you should get a proper smoke screen!+ very poor performance ., Is the oil level ok,not overfilled? as that might be forcing oil into the cylinders, passing the piston rings . What sort of mileage has it done? could be just a knackered engine! -
Alhambra Stuck In 3rd , Gear Cables Issue
familyman replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sounds like the same problem i had with mine ,easy enough job to do ,just a sod to get to the cable ! go for a cable change if you can, sods law the repair will fail in the middle of nowhere, make sure the new cable ends are securely popped over the ball joints on the gear box levers as they can be a very tight fit, and give the impression of being on , only to pop off a few miles down the road-oh how i laughed! :angry2: -

Best Make Of Tyres For Wear

Had continental premium contacts on mine for a few years now, still loads of life in them, and were a decent price when i got them -

Just to add ,if you do replace the turbo yourself be prepared for a smoke screen from the exhaust where the turbo has dumped a lot of oil into the exhaust system ,it can be very scary until the oil is burnt out of the system,i had a lot of bikers giving me a cheery wave as they overtook my smoking gal(at least i think they were waving!)so might be best to try and run it late at night on a quiet country road!

these were excellent when my turbo went bang http://www.turboactive.com/

familyman replied to familyman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Spoke to supplier and he is sure it's a new part, and judging by the condition i would agree with him, unless someone has done a very good job reconditioning it -

Lost 17 K On New Speedo!

Possible ,i'll double check the part no's, i thought the mileage would have gone to 0 or back to the original 123K but to come up with a random 106078 was a bit of a puzzle! -
In an effort to cure the Gals wayward fuel gauge,i have fitted a new instrument panel only to find my mileage has dropped from 123k down to 106k! ,i have disconnected the battery in case it needed a "reboot" this made no difference, (and strangely the radio did not need the code resetting?) any ideas anybody?

Try Swiftcover.com always had good prices off them.

Time has come to change the cambelt on the gal,i'm loathe to do this as it's only done 20K since the last change 6 yrs ago,do i really have to do it at such a low mileage, how important is the age factor?, anyway iv'e been quoted
