But they could still just blankely refuse that is was any fault of their own. I have no proof, other than a previous invoice from a year ago from getting them fixed.

Financing A New Car......help Needed
jkspoff replied to greg_68's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
You're better off going for a low interest loan, you can always pay it off at any time, get one that doesn't penalise you too much for paying it off early, i.e. getting you to pay a lump sum of interest. It works out well if you decide later you can't afford to pay it off in one go, at least you'll only be paying 5.7% for example, from somewhere like Northern Rock. -
I need to get a dog guard for the Gal, as I have been told we are getting a dog in August ! I have seen this one on ebay, but am unsure as to whether it will fit the mk2, as it states mk1, but surely they are the same fitment ? Anyone got a dog guard fitted, or anyone know anything about them ? :( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting

Once again I have had my sills crushed by an inept garage, I can't really be bothered to claim against them, its just too much time and hassle, so what can be done to straighten them as a DIY job. Rather than spending more money on getting them done by a body shop ? Should I just jack it up and use a hammer, or is there a more professional approach to it ? :(

My thoughts exactly, however not entirely sure, when the switch was replaced the fault code went and all was well (i'm sure its yet another component that can possibly fail). Pressure in system was checked and found to be ok, apparently the switch can be damaged by constant switching on/off due to low or high pressures over time, so maybe faulty switch, but who knows with this poor designed system ! Only time will tell if my repair is long or short term, at least I now have 12 months warranty on switch and condenser thats just been replaced. But sods law it will be another component that goes wrong next, lets hope it sees summer out, with temperatures at 31C+ today for UK we need A/C !

Mine needed regassing due to a condenser leak, but I believe that if the switch is replaced it needs to be regassed due to the positioning of it on the pipe, but I may be wrong. The pressure switch cuts off the compressor if the pressure is too high or low, to protect it from damage. My pressure switch was switching on and off for no apparent reason, so was replaced. Info: High-Pressure Cutoff Switch (346310) Removal 1. Raise and support the vehicle. 2. Disconnect the high-pressure cutoff switch electrical connector. 3. Remove the high-pressure cutoff switch. Discard the O-ring seal. Installation 1. Install new high-pressure cutoff switch O-ring seal. Coat the high-pressure cutoff switch O-ring seal in clean refrigerant oil prior to installation. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Downloaded the beta Office 2007, so far very impressed, everything working fine. Works as Beta until February 2007 too. I removed old office software after backing up the personal folders and imported them into Beta 2007 office, i.e. outlook etc, try it, very slick. http://www.microsoft.com/uk/office/preview...getthebeta.mspx

If only I could afford to. :D

I like the 5 spoke best, but I'm afraid I am a bit boring, as I like the original alloys that come with a car from the manufacturer, or if they didn't then buy some original part second hand off ebay or somewhere. I just got a set of 4 off ebay for the wifes Scenic II, they are off a 53 plate Megane and look stunning on, second hand with decent tyres (original set with 3/4 tread left), genuine seller upgraded to after market ones, its made a basic spec car look like top spec model. All for

They do look like scratches, but I suspect its a reflection, send him a message through ebay and ask him before bidding to be sure.

Thanks for the info, by the sounds of it, thats what mine is doing, so fingers crossed.

Ok, anyone know if the pipes at the front of the Galaxy for the A/C should run hot or cold, pre condensor seems hot, post condensor seems cold, i.e. as you look into the engine bay, the gas refill pipe on the right is running hot, the gas refill pipe on the left is running cold, there seems to be some confusion at the garage regarding this, even after speaking with an air con specialists ? Other than that after vaccuming out the system and re-weighing the gas/oil after running for a while all seems well, no flashing panel on CC panel and cold air blowing. Is there anything else I should get them to check before accepting the work and signing it off in anyone elses experience ???

Extended Warranties/ Warranty Providers
jkspoff replied to lydanial's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I have just made a claim through my warranty company as recommended above, one thing to make sure of, is when you have your car serviced, make sure you keep the service invoice that shows the service was completed by a VAT registered garage or they will not pay out, in my case 2 services over 2 years. A stamp in the service book is not sufficient. Luckily I had these available, but I can imagine a lot of people throw these receipts/invoices away. The claim was made successfully, but they only paid out 90% of the parts value. Plus they will not pay for dealership repairs or dealer parts. So make sure if you want this then pay the premium for it when taking out the warranty. Above all else, read the small print before buying, as most of us including me very rarely do ! They also refused to pay (not surprisingly) regassing air con as a result of failed components, which I think should have been included. But it still saved me a grand in cash. -
Hopefully will get mine back today with working A/C, they have to provide 12 months warranty with it for the warranty company to pay out to them direct, so at least a years worth of cold air..........hopefully. :( Replaced so far: 1. Compressor - 12 months ago 2. Condensor - yesterday 3. Three way pressure switch on pipe 4. Another re-gas and pressure check Total -

Pela 6000 Vacuum Oil Extractor
jkspoff replied to widu13's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Not sure on this, but is it possible to push the tube down the oil fill section on yours, rather than down the oil dip stick hole. Just an idea, maybe it'll reach further down ?? -
Pela 6000 Vacuum Oil Extractor
jkspoff replied to widu13's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Mine got all 4.5 litres out after about 30 minutes, it did need 2 goes to remove all the oil, plus a second pump when it neared the bottom of the sump, I even sucked out the oil from the filter housing. The oil on the Gal is now clearer than it has ever been. You can actually hear it sucking out the last few drops. An excellent buy and highly recommended. The old oil pours easily into the container that you used for the new oil, so you know exactly how much came out, in my case all of it. :P -
Lets hope they have ordered the right one then ! Why would this part fail anyway ? Surely its doing now what its supposed to do........unless its shutting off incorrectly, I always have my doubts when it comes to garages, I don't know why !!

OK, update on my A/C repair, condensor has now been replaced, but now they say the pressure switch has gone, so part on order as none in stock anywhere local, should be tomorrow. Anyone know anything about pressure switches ? Apparently it sits on one of the pipes leading to the compressor, known to Ford parts as a solenoid switch. It is showing up as a fault code, the compressor is switching on but then straight off again because of it. So another day with Gal in garage. Switch is
