I think its mainly down to the demise of the predominately Galaxy issues, and more of a general automotive and other related matters site, which makes it difficult for users to rectify their issues with their Sharan/Galaxy and Alhambra, to find solutions easily and quickly without getting lost in a mass of unrelated material. But don't get me wrong, I still think its an excellent source of free and shared information though and a well maintained site. B)

Welcome to the forum, we are a host of useful money saving information, search through the forum, as many aspects of Galaxy ownership have been covered !

Ok, I have managed to clear the aux heater fault code and at the moment it is working ok, when it fails again I will replace the glow plug. Does anyone know if I when you buy the full version you can switch off parking sensors individually, as it is reporting the reason for mine not working to be the 'front mid right inoperative'. If I can switch this one off then maybe it will work with the others only. What other benefits in a nutshell will I get by spending $99 on the full version of VAG COM ?

I have actually managed after many frustrating hours of fiddling with different drivers to install and get working my ebay lead. I found an alternative driver dedicated to the 'Autonostics' lead and it worked first time, after a long time googling it turned up trumps. I can now do what I originally set out to do and change my aux heater glow plug and reset the fault codes. Trial and error !

Thanks for the info, a few of us have got together to buy a router and a dedicated PC to run as a server, so hopefully we will be blasting away soon.

Yes, I read through the above link for further info, and it would appear that these devices off ebay are not fully compliant with the ross-tech software, they require a different driver to provide a reliable connection: Ross Tech quote the below: ● We've had numerous reports of problems with 3rd-party USB interfaces. The USB drivers that we include with VAG-COM do not work with 3rd-party interfaces. In order for a 3rd party USB interface to work at all, the vendor must supply a USB driver for the device. Almost all 3rd party drivers emulate a Serial port. This is intrinsically slower than directly accessing the interface via USB. It may also cause difficulties connecting or unreliable sessions with some control modules. ● We've had many reports that certain 3rd-party interfaces (Serial as well as USB) do not work properly with some control modules. If you have a 3rd party interface, please make sure it works with all the control modules in all the cars you're planning to scan before you register.

I've totally given up with my lead I bought off ebay, I tried for hours to get the VAG COM software to see the lead, but it just won't. Its the USB type. When I plug it into the port on the Galaxy it glows the red LED, but computer does not recognise it as being anything but a serial port adaptor. It'll have to go back on ebay, unless anyone on here wants to buy it and try it ?

Vag-com Connection Problems?
jkspoff replied to JohnR's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Now XP thinks that the VAG COM device is something completely different and is auto installing it as something completely different. Anyone know how I can turn off plug and play for devices and automatic driver installs ?? I think I might end up throwing it all through a closed window ! -
Vag-com Connection Problems?
jkspoff replied to JohnR's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've installed my new VAG COM lead, and it recognises it when I plug it in, but then it faults with a message saying 'device cannot start, code 10'. I have tried the 'fix it' guide on this posting but doesn't seem to work for this issue, anyone any idea as I am now pulling my hair out ! ? -
Booster heater not working
jkspoff replied to craig245t's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have my lead on order from ebay, and am going to attempt on my next day off, to change the glow plug on my booster heater, with the excellent guide on here. -
I have been playing the excellent game Call Of Duty 2 on the PC, the game allows you to join to a server to play with other players via broadband, but does anyone know how to set up a server so you can invite just chosen players to join, rather than anyone ? If you've not played it then try the demo version: http://www.callofduty.com/ http://news.gaminghorizon.com/media2/1127760180.2408.html

Well its here, after 5 years of waiting for some, (not me, couldn't give a flying ....), microsofts latest operating system is amongst us, launched this Tuesday (30/1/07) windows Vista, available in 32 or 64 bit forms. Minimum computer spec to run it smoothly and quickly will basically be: dual core processor or better, minimum 1GB RAM, a half decent graphics card (128mb+) etc etc. But the question is, is anyone here going to upgrade ?? If so why ?? I don't fully understand the benefits for the everyday user....... :D

Sooooo, if I buy a VAG COM lead off ebay, I'll be able to check the booster heater is enabled and if it isn't then I'll be able to re-enable it, unless of course it needs a new glow plug ??? I've been surfing on ebay and have seen lots of different variants of the VAG COM lead, shall I get the USB lead thats compatible with the latest software ??

Tdi 130 Sluggish Starting
jkspoff replied to ninjakev's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I once put some of that additive stuff in the diesel thats supposed to help cold starting and clears any minor issues with fuel injectors etc, it actuallyu seemed to make quite a difference, plus didn't appear to smoke as much on start up, may be a cheap idea to try before replacing parts. Does anyone know what that stuff actually does ? -
Looks good, I would love one for my rabble too, don't blame you going for the 2litre petrol, as the extra money for the Tdi is not worth it unless you do above everage mileage. I am a great fan of diesel, and would maybe see if my budget stretched to get one in the future. Enjoy it, just out of interest what average mpg is it actually doing, if you've had time to work it out yet ? and do you mind me asking was it a good deal you got ? :)

Home and contents insurance/accidental damage may cover it, as it does mine. Worth a try, read the small print on your policy first to see what is and isn't covered. :)

9 blown over vehicles on the M1/M62 and A1 in the West Yorkshire area alone, fortunately no serious injuries, mainly cuts and bruises, and a few written off trucks, plus many long long tail backs.

Get a satelite dish and a decoder, receive perfect picture and all freeview channels with a freeview card, no need for any more issues with aerials, you don't need to subscribe to Sky, just buy the bits off ebay for less than 50 quid and install yourself using the digibox built in meter and a bit of coax cable. It'll take an hour to do.
