  1. Get a Haynes manual, recently released for your particular model. eBay has them - iirc aound £14-£16 delivered.
  2. Exactly the same senario I'm in. Let us know what you find out, you may help me out at the same time but i still think my problem lies at the door pillar wire gaitor, just need to wait for some decent weather and a day off from work to investigate.
  3. Hi and welcome. Have you got the manual/handbook for the car as it's in there that shows you how to syncronise the keyfob, if not, then there is numerous posts on here that tells you how. If that does not work, then check the wiring loom between the drivers door as it's a well known fact for cables to fray over time. I had the same problem with the missus whilst doing her shopping, came out, no opening of doors with fob. I haven't had the chance to look at the wiring loom yet. If that fails, then an auto-electrician will be visited soon as i miss opening the doors from a distance!
  4. If the purchase was recent and a warranty was given, then i assume that the faulty parking sensors should be covered. However, not all warranties are the same and as suggested by yourself - best to check the small print. Good luck and let us know how you got on.
  5. With limited information you have supplied, I would hazzard a guess and say 'yes'. But it all depends what type of warranty you have. I would suggest you telephone the dealer (I assume its Ford) and ask them.
  6. Get yourself a 'Haynes manual' for your car and that will show a step by step guide.
  7. Has been mentioned before, try another internet browser like Mozilla firefox or Goggle Chrome.
  8. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/uploads/monthly_12_2007/post-668-1197284446.jpg It should also be stamped on the front of the engine block 1 = engine code (1Z = 90bhp, AHU = 90bhp, AFN = 110bhp) 2 = engine number
  9. Why 'ford spec' for power steering fluid?
  10. Something seriously wrong here, i do not for one second think you need to have the stereo on for the parking sensors to work. Take it back to the dealer as it sounds that you may have a short circuit somewhere.
  11. Generally speaking, No. But saying that there are some info that will relate to both models. In my honest opinion, you best to get the manual, be it downloaded or hardback for your particluar model.
  12. Haynes do a mk2 manual now for about £14 on ebay. I rather have a hard copy than something downloaded. Try http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Haynes-Owners-Workshop-Car-Manual-Ford-Galaxy-Sep-00-Mar-06-5556-/261044720624?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item3cc77a53f0
  13. Any good decent motor factors will sell power steering fluid.
  14. Glad you're happy mate, and thanks for mentioning me by name, its a great feeling when a person comes back and says thanks. How about a picture of your alloys on the Galaxy?
  15. Yep, just what i was thinking - the dreaded PATS chip. We wait eagerly for the OP to enlighten us more.
  16. Will need more info, a little more of history will help. What makes you think it's the immobiliser?
  17. Eric, I think you may need longer bolts as IIRC the Galaxy original 16" wheels are 7" where as the merc are 7 1/2. Try them first with the original bolts. The spigot rings i gave the link for are what you need to mount them to the Galaxy. Regards Saif
  18. Eric, The Ford Galaxy has a bore of 57.1 whereupon the info you have been given regarding the mercedes is that the e class has a bore of 66.6 which means that the centre hole is too big. One way around this is to fit spigots to allow you to fit them to the ford. For example this will do the job perfectly. All the best with the auction and let us know how you get on. Saif
  19. I'm not sure if the 97 Galaxy came with remote central locking, if not, you can always get an aftermarket remote locking kit fitted.
  20. Eric, Go back to the seller and ask him the question of PCD and bore diameter, either that or ask him the model number of the mercedes the wheels came off and cross reference them from the website i gave the link to earlier.
  21. As long as the pcd and offset (35-45) are correct with a bore size of 57.1, then the 16" or 17" will go on no problem. There are some cars with these sizes for example Audi's and Mercedes but not all models. A few members on here have the 17" from the Audi A4 and A6 on the Galaxy's and they look nice. Try this link for an idea of what cars are suitable. (Just have the volume turned down when you go to the website though!!)
  22. Get it reconditioned, keep it as a spare or sell it once done, as it stands. it's worthless.
  23. Haven't personally used it but heard some mixed reviews about it. Quite expensive, I believe. I have a document saved on my computer some place that a owner has used 'Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner' to good effect, something to do with the main ingredient in it (Sodium Hydroxide) which basically disolves all the carbon deposit (as in a oven!!) If you want, i'll dig it out.
  24. Hi, I take it that you saying 'the link' you mean the FAQ's - if so, try using a different web browser eg Firefox or Google Chrome. For some reason Internet Explorer fails to work on this forum.
