  1. Yipee! Result, good on you Victor and well done. ;)
  2. What about 'stick-on' beam deflectors?
  3. My opinion is that the mk2 Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi is better because as mentioned by yourself, its cheaper. I think this is because of the make of car and trim levels as i am sure the alhambra has more gadgets and gizmos as standard compared to the Ford. VW - i again thik this is due to the VW image. I personally have the 1.9tdi Zetec 115bhp model, which i am more than happy with. When the time comes to change, again i will be looking for the last of the mk2's (upto 2006) but maybe the 130/150bhp.
  4. Wow, this topic is nearly 7 years old! Luckly Seatkid is a regular member/contributor here so no doubt he will answer your query pretty pronto.
  5. Redo the linkages again. I had the same problem only a few months back. Umpteen independent garages said that it couldn't be done and that i should either buy new linkages and motor or source a good second-hand one. When i said that the motor was fine as it could be heard working then they backtracked. Anyway, me and my mate stripped the linkages, regreased with copper slip and refitted it. Working perfect now until the grease will no doubt get washed out again with all this rain.
  6. Did you replace it yourself? If so, were they the correct ones? If a garage fitted them then take it back.
  7. Hi nab509, Welcome to the forum, just a quickie in regards to any problems or advice you are after is to add your vehicle make, model, year, fuel and bhp (if you know it) in your signature so members can offer the best advice without going back and forwards assertaining your vehicle details.
  8. I'll second that for a faulty idle control valve. I've experienced the same symptoms (in a different make of car) you have described and it was the valve. EDIT: Pretty cheap from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIR-BYPASS-IDLE-SPEED-CONTROL-VALVE-FORD-GALAXY-2000-/190349959617?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c51bde1c1
  9. £160!!! There was a guy on eBay that was cutting and suppling this types of keys (excluding programming and pats chip) for around £11 and that was by you sending in a photo of your key to him.
  10. Hi and welcome to the forum. Your windows and doors not opening will be down to chaffed wires between the doors and pillars. The key will be down to probably missing 'PATS' chip or the fob needs reprogramming and the fans very rarely come on on my MK2 but definitely work. All your problems are quite common and have been discussed before to great lengths, just use the 'search' buttons or FAQ's. Any problems, get back to us.
  11. My apologies (must get a new computer monitor or eyesight tested!)
  12. Very nice wheels, but are they reinforced tyres, couldn't quite make it out. Looked like it said '82W' (correct me if i'm wrong) which would make it around 200kg load per tyre less than what it should be.
  13. There is an access panel underneath the carpet around the second row of seats.
  14. Assalaamalaikum, Yes, please keep us updated. And thanks for spelling out my name correctly in the arabic way. :26: P.S. Ramadhan Mubarak! Wasalaam
  15. Am afraid its a dealer option only for the this type of key, however, i have never tried it myself, but some say that Timpson the shoe repair people are now able to clone this type of keys. I can only suggest that you take time out and phone around. Auto locksmiths is another option. Let us know how you get on so we can advice other members if they have the same problem and best of luck.
  16. I don't know where they are located on the mk3's but you know what i'm talking about??? It's the black rubber covered switch which are normally visible when you open the doors.
  17. What about that little black switch that normally illuminates the interior lights when doors open and switches off when doors closed?
  18. If your car starts then cuts out straight away would mean that the small 'pats' chip located in the key is missing. Its normally located in the main part of the key (a small rectangular silver chip) I assume the other key is a none fob type key but starts the car?
  19. I would hazzard a guess and say that it is an electrical fault then. Try checking the relay or you could have a buggered radiator switch.
  20. Grant, Is more than likely that the wiring between the doors and the pillars have frayed from use over the years. Have a look at the FAQ's for a detailled explanation in solving this problem.
  21. Have you checked the coolant level?
  22. Go for either Philips X-treme Power or Osram Nightbreakers, very good reviews for these bulbs,
  23. Ahhhh Glenrothes, know it well. Full of roundabouts and housing schemes with funny names like all new towns built in the 50's.
  24. Will be looking forward to seeing you mate! Whereabouts in Fife are you from, I lived in Kirkcaldy for 31 years before moving to West Yorkshire in 2010
  25. No problem, mines a 2002 (mk2) 1.9tdi Zetec, 6 speed manual with 16" alloys as standard, engine code is AUY. All Mintex: Front Pads - MDB2625 Rear Pads - MDB 2118 Front Discs 300mm - MDC1542 Rear Discs 268mm - MDC1018 Also try http://www.brakebook...index_tmd.xhtml for cross references.
