Bendy Wipers on Ebay
-
Frequently on ebay, but remember that you will need new arms to go with the bendy wipers (if you did not have bendy wipers to start with).
-
What if someone in the car had too much curry and ale the night before?
-
Could be the switches on the brake pedal are sticky, need adjusting or are faulty.

In the Galaxy there is only the main filter. I think, but stand to be corrected, that the odour filter and pollen filter are interchangable with the odour being a more expensive version having activated carbon in it. Most people are probably referring to the same thing when they talk about odour or pollen filters.

On the Galaxy is there any air filtration during recirculation or does it only occur on fresh air intake?
-
Oh sh1t, I have just checked mine and I can see that my centre caps have been levered out. I will never be able to prove it was the garage. What is the best paint laquer for touching up Galaxy alloys?

So it is an offence to own a video recorder or a PC?

Ford some reason Ford do not seem to make an issue over the TIS being in the public domain, but they do take action against those trying to trade the Microcat Fords Parts software. I bid for one on Ebay and got a strong email advising me not to bid on the item and it was then withdrawn from sale by Ebay.

A concern that I have shared. I have tried using the more expensive petrol and I was unable to notice any difference in consumption or performance.

Very unusual if it is the auxilliary heater on a 2.8 which is why I queried why you thought you had it. There was certainly not one on my previous 1997 2.8i Galaxy Ghia-X. Another point that might be preaching the obvious, but is it not to hot where you are at the moment for the heater to come on? I understand that it only comes on at low temperatures.

What makes you think you have one fitted?

As I am always doing things to my Galaxy, I have the doors open, radio on etc, the battery is constantly getting drained. What I would like to be able to do is to connect the car to the mains when I am in the garage so that it is not draining the battery power, or if it is, it is replenished overnight. Battery chargers can only be used whith the battery disconnected as there is the risk of damaging the car electrics through over voltage, so I am looking for some other form of regulated supply. They must exist as mobile homes can be connected to the mains on camping sites and keep their batteries charged. Has anyone any knowledge of any such product?

Clarification On Aircon "freshener"
MrT replied to MrT's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I could not get any of the spray but I have changed the filter and the smell has gone. I think Ford must have taken the filter then built the car around it. There is so little room to get your hands to the filter over the top of the engine then slide it right across. I think I need a skin graft on my arms! -
To get rid of musty smells you need to use an aircon anti-bacterial spray. I have heard two reasons for this, one is that it treats the whole system and the other is that it treats the filter. I am putting a new filter in, so do I need to spray the system as well to kill the musty smell?

Mine occaissionally does this, it feels a bit like a bike with a very slack chain. I had it thoroughly checked last week and there is no problem at all. However one problem which can give the same sympton is worn out engine/gearbox mounting bushes.

I like the number plates with sparking squares like you see on those TV police reality programs. Anyone know where you can buy them?

Watch out for the insurance hike when modding your V6. You may find many mainstream companies will not touch it as it is considered a high risk car as standard. If you forget to tell them, you may not be covered. Quite a few of the online companies will not touch it as standard, even with a low risk full no-claims driver. It's not just performance mods they don't like, it is anything that will make the vehicle more attactive to a thief.

Buy her a pair of ear defenders available from most DIY outlets. They also come is useful for you to wear when she is full of bright ideas about what you should be doing.

Interesting to note that on BBC watchdog recently there was an issue on Land Rovers seriously breaking down out of warranty due to a manufacturing defect and there was a lawyer on the program who said that manufacturers of cars had legal liability for manufacturing defects for 6 years. You can see the standard letter they have put on the site to complain at Landrover Letter. No doubt this could be amended and used for any vehicle. A path to consider? Maybe also a watchdog case for Galaxy AirCon?

Nokia Mobile Phone Holder
MrT replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I tried the vent mount similar to the one shown in the picture but found it interefered with the indicator. I ended up screwing the Nokia mount to the curved surface that the back of the mount touches. This cleared the indicator and the screen can be seen whilst driving. Of course it will have marked the car if it is ever removed, but I am always going to have some kind of phone there. -

Difficult driving whilst reading text messages. -
In my fusebox there is a label similar to the picture that SEATKID posted and it reflects what the fuses should be. The handbook is different.

According to Ford the air conditioning performance should be measured by the surface temperature of the evaporator output tube. The system must be run for three minutes before measuring. The system should be on lowest temperature setting with lowest fan speed, all vents and windows open and fresh air setting. On the 2000+ Galaxy the temperature should be 5C for single air con and 7C for dual air con. This is now recommended as part of the extended service on a 3 year interval and is a chargeable extra. This was released as TSB 67/2003.
