I went for a personal plate (*1 T**) as it was a cheaper option than buying a new car. No-one knows how old your car is and I as I have changed the trim to the 2004 chrome, the car looks just like new. (with the exception of stone chips on the bonnet). So I have a car that looks new, is in perfect working order and

Why don't people want to park in gear? I have heard people say so that the engine/transmission does not get damaged if the car is shunted whilst parked, but the tyres would slip on the road before any damage occured. Also when I was taught to drive I was told when parking on hills to turn the wheels slightly so if the car did move the front wheels would roll against the kerb then stop. Anyway I can only remove my ignition key when the gearbox is in Park.

It would worry me that only a bit of electronics stops a car from tipping over.

There is one problem using inline FM modulators in that some of them effectively disconnect the external aerial whilst in use which prevents the radio from scanning other channels for traffic information. You need one which adds in its signal rather than replacing the existing signal. Another problem is that the galaxy puts power down its anntenna feed to power the antenna amplifier, the FM modulator may block this power feed and the power feed could affect the FM modulator. It is important to check that the modulator is compatible.

My impression of the link was that is was for USA radios and not the European models.

It does on more recent engines (2001) when Ford changed from using the PWM to the ISO protocol. It certainly works on my petrol engine, although that is VW based.

Same here, I still have not found the mute control.

My 2.8 auto has it.

A Simple Question....maybe ?

I think it is the smile so they sit just above the plastic trim at the bottom of the window, but you should just try and see which works best. You may then ask which one is better on top when resting and I reckon have the drivers uppermost so it sweeps close the A pillar. Watch the wiper arms when the rubber is out, the spring is powerful enough to crack the screen if the metal end hits it. I have seen someone do this. -
Just Ordered A Tomtom Go: Best Place To Put It?

The reason the 2-3 usually does not work is when the red-rad's transmitter is within 2-3m of the re-rad's antenna, so it picks its own signal up and gets a feedback loop. I have my re-rad antenna bang in the middle of the roof where it gets the best signal. You can also feed the wire through the upper edge of the tailgate and place it on the roof there. On the dash it is has the rearwards view of the sky partially cover by the roof of the car. -
The active car radio aerial is in the offside rear quarter light glass (if you can call it that), may be the interference is through this?

I have just been under my bonnet in the garage and indeed there is a water pump between the engine and the bulkhead that runs for a few minutes after turning off the ignition. It is virtually inaudible from inside the car.

There have been two versions of the V6, the old incarnation that produced 179bhp and the newer 24V 204bhp model that came out in late 2000. The newer version in spite of its extra power is more economical.

I have a similar whirring noise but it is very faint and I can only hear it in a quiet garage with the engine turned off. I think it is some sort of cooling fan on one of the electrical modules near the pollen filten area.

Does anyone know how I can fit my Sony CD changer to work with my Ford radio? I have attached some out of focus pictures of the Ford and Sony connectors. The Sony is a DIN style plug with an array of 3 x 4 pins +1.

Oh they have been made, they just don't hang around for long.

My understanding was that if you have the rear air con vents in the roof you could not get a sunroof as well.

Mine are built into the visor and when you open the hinged flap covering the mirror on the visor the lights come on.

I have often wondered if this feature of the radio actually works. I have set mine to the maximum + figure and to be honest I cannot tell any difference whatever figure it is set to. I thought that this made the radio louder the noisier it got in the car but it never seems to get any louder for me. Same on the previous model. Is it some high threshold I never reach like 110 mph or something? Am I misunderstanding what this feature is meant to do or how it is meant to be set up?

The parking sensors on the facelifted version are integrated into the electronic management system of the car and by plugging a management terminal in, you can read the distance from each of the individual sensors to the nearest detected object. So apart from checking the obvious like blown fuses and loose wires, you need access to the electronic management system to check for faults. I cannot see why the sensors should be excluded from the warranty.

No steep hills around here, so maybe thats it.

Could be a dieing battery, happy when under a light load. Could be the battery terminals are loose or the other end of the heavy leads from the battery have a poor connection. Could be an earth strap, but if the one to the engine had gone the other electrics would not necessarily dim. Do all the headlights (full beam) and heated rear window (front heated screen only works when engine is turning over) when turned on with the engine not running significantly cause any dimming?

I must admit I have never noticed this "feature", perhaps it is to stop you accidentally shooting backwards by mistake (I've done in in an auto Fiesta). It certainly does not work the other way round as I have often put it into drive when reversing and used the revs to slow the car down then accelerate away. The car always moves forwards or backwards when in gear and no revs and on an uphill incline it stands still when in drive at traffic lights without the brakes, ie it won't ever roll back (well not on the hills I have tried) If no one has come up with an answer I will try it out at the weekend and let you know.
