W Reg - New Or Old Body?
MrT replied to Dave Riches's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Look at the three pictures at the top of the page, the left and centre are the new Galaxy and the one on the right is the old. My new model V6 had another 25bhp over the old one, its faster and it does about 10% more mpg, had 5 speed auto instead of 4 plus semi-manual changing, ESP and dual air conditioning. -
Nokia Handsfree Install
MrT replied to SharanTDICarat's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
You only need to remove the radio, no dash trim, and there is plenty of room behind there and to the sides of it behind the switches. I have two kits in that area. All you need to remove the radio is a couple of "U clips" which are available from most car accessory stores. -
The global closing on the Mk2 Galaxy by key fob was disabled by Ford as it was thought to be dangerous. It can be re-enabled by using VAG-COM but I don't know the codes to do it. IIRC there were the codes for a VW car on the VAG-COM website, so the code may be the same.

Just buy her a msall plastic brush and dustpan to carry around in the car to sweep up broken glass and lamps off the road. That will also help avoid later tyre damage. No doubt she will not appreciate your generosity and concern for her welfare.

The washer jet mounts only come with the complete trim panel which I have already paid Ford for.
-
Just to let you all know that this is not resolved and none of the Ford people: Leach, Martin (M.D.) mleach6@ford.com, Osborne, Graham gosbourn@ford.com are responding to emails on this. I feel badly let down by Ford and need to kick ass. Does anyone have any high up contacts in Ford or any other ideas on how I can get them into motion? I got no reply from BBC Watchdog, I suppose a missing washer jet is not interesting to them.

They have stolen a month! I wonder if it was because the MoT was done 6 weeks before the third birthday?
-
I don't think you will get 13 months on your first MoT. It will run for 12 months from the date of issue and the second one, if done slightly early will run for 12 months from the expiry of the first MoT. Well thats what happened with my wife's car. Whilst the regs state the requirements for HID lights, I don't think checking the lights meet HID regulations is part of the MoT procedure, they will just check the alignment. It will be interesting to find out.

When I got my Galaxy the HID lamps were a

When my screen cracked from a flying bolt (I saw it coming) there was not a mark on the outside of the glass but the cracks ran up the inside of the glass. I suppose it is the middle layer in the laminated screen that had gone.

It's probably just the BMW dealer has the stereotype image of his BMW customers being stupid with too much money....

Fuel Starvation After Parking Facing Downhill
MrT replied to imposter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I once parked off-road on a very steep hill (cannot remember if front up or down) and my gauge was reading in the red and the chimes and "refuel now" warning came on. This was odd as I had nearly half a tank when I parked. After around 5 mins on the level the gauge came back to normal. Made me wonder if the gauge and outlet were always at the lowest part of the tank. -

Below is a list of all the eleven units in my Galaxy and you may not have all these devices in your car, for example the units; auto gearbox, climate control, parking sensor and electronic stability control are not in all the models. I had this on my Mk1 Galaxy and I was told that is was common on the 2.8i Auto as people drove them harder and tended to hold them on the footbrake in traffic to stop them pulling away.

Strange Problem (or It Was A Couple Of Weeks Ago)
MrT replied to corskey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Not sure if it is the same issue but if I unlock mine with the remote and do not open the drivers door, it deadlocks itself after a minute or so. I suppose it is a safety feature so you don't accidentally leave the car unlocked. However if like me you accidentally sit on your remote fob in the car and lock the doors, the only way to open the doors are with the remote fob (everything is deadlocked and you cannot open the windows). A minute or so later, it will lock again if you don't open and close the drivers door. -
1. Drive the wife's Fiesta in mucky conditions. 2. With difficulty. 3. Mudflaps make a real difference.

I find on a black car that the silver trim looks really good and does not look like cheap plastic. I had the original black trim and at the front it was tatty from stone chips. I bought the new trim and radiator grilles and the silver "mouth" is a definate improvement. If the silver parts do deteriorate with age, I will only need to buy these rather than the grilles again.Galaxy Chrome Upgrade I agree that the newer rear lights and alloys look worse than the earlier facelifted models.
-
If it doens't last, replace it, the chrome trim itself only costs a few
-
On the facelifted Galaxy the Ford rack has two metal clips that fit onto the top surface of the tailgate. The front edge is bent into a small U shape and hooks over the leading edge of the tailgate top surface into the gap between the tailgate and roof. The clip covers the front to back of the top surface (about 120mm) of the tailgate and follows the rounded rear contour and drops around 20mm vertically downwards towards the glass.
-
The chrome trim (radiator grills, bonnet front, rear hatch, foglamps etc) on the 04 Galaxy is all "silver" coated plastic so it won't rust.

I have never need to top up either of my galaxies. Only time that oil goes in is at the servicing.

On my Galaxy the audio is not connected to the management system (except security).

Change Headlight Bulbon 03 130 Diesal

Doesn't removing these screws and replacing them affect the headlight alignment? -
Doesn't the kick down work on the diseasel when you floor it at 50 or is that too close to the top speed?
