  1. iirc no on the mk1 it resets its self,on the mk2 after 5 flame outs it then needs resetting with vag-com.
  2. im assuming you have a mk3?? what does the on board diagnostic throw up?

  4. or look in the faqs and you will find VERY detailed instructions on mending the 1 you have.
  5. well 1st off,i would read war and peace,sorry the long thread in the faqs about the booster heater.just so you know how it is meant to work, then get the fault codes read,that will piont you in the right direction on where the actuall fault lays.
  6. DONT BE BLOODY SILLY, i had problems with opening my rear hatch a few months ago.thought surely it cant be the wiring,so after stripping everything including the lock itself and testing the last thing i checked was the wiring, YEP ABOUT 4 WIRES GONE. how phissed off was i.

  8. have a read up on here,you can bridge the sensor iirc under the windscreen wiper area,to get it to turn on regardless of the temprature.

  10. well i dont understand a lot of it, iirc it tells you the software version your currently running,checks the dash lights etc,gauge sweep(thats important aint it ?) battery voltage and any dtc's,fuel and mileage and no doubt loads more ;)
  11. also check that the run on pump is working as well.
  12. iirc its 5 degrees for the mk1 and 10 degrees for the mk2. but my old mk2 used to come on when it was about 12 degrees.
  13. yes m8,i too have the convers dash,just follow the instructions and scroll through everything.
  14. ?? what do you need to know bud? on the link above,scroll down until you see my youtube link and watch it,it tells you how to do the check for the on board diagnotics.

  17. theyve always been like this,when i bought my old mk2,it ended up need a new auxhillary booster heater,it was about 200 odd quid more then vw,i said i could walk over the road to vw and buy it cheaper they said i could but they would not gaurntee it as it wasnt supplyied by them,i told them they didnt make it in the 1st place and they had to go to vw to buy it any way.they then told me they had to repackage it into a ford box,WHAT FOR
  18. eucatparts.com/?action=cat_ford_part&s_id_part=1237837&s_id_model=118 this any help? from research there may well be a tsb on this subject,dunno how old your car is or whether you have any warrenty on your car? you may be able to gain access by removing the under tray and looking up you should see the underside of the bonnet lock which is covered,using a screwdriver you shpould be able to insert it between the cover seam and manipulate the lock?
