  1. mirez thats is a really good point, your right trust is all weve got as a forum, but personally as ive been part of this forum since 2003 and i wouldnt rip anyone off for the sake of a few quid.bearing in mind i would still want to be part of the forum. thats why i did post how would we sort this out?
  2. tim???????you sure you wanted this posted here,or am i on drugs.
  3. thanx chaps, checked this morning, took the engine cover off and fiddled around a bit, didnt see anything obvious BUT whatever i done seemed to work :) ????driving as she should,so happy days :D
  4. welcome to the forum, at the top of the page there is a seach facility, have you tried that yet? it sounds like you may have wiring problems in the rubber boot that passes from the car to the door, very common problem on these cars, also try looking in the faqs which are found in the tech section of the forum, hth.
  5. er maybe m8,plz enlighten me on the whereabouts of it.
  6. right today carried out a sevice on the car, didnt change the fuel filter after all,as going by seatkids opinion(o mighty 1)about them needing changing somewhere between 20k and 50k. havent changed the pollen filter yet coz i aint got 1 yet. righto the problem, changed the oil and filter and air filter, now the engine seems to tickover fine but when your slowly driving down the road(i:e line of traffic)its hesitating/jumping/juddering but when you press the accelorator down it picks up nicly and drives as it should. now have i knocked something? dont think its the maf as it goes like a bullet when the gas is down. any pointers chaps/esses ? ta muchly
  7. afaik all galaxys require xtra load/reinforced tyres on them.do a search on here has been covered before.
  8. yep i would seriously put up
  9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-auxillary-heater...=item4a9c07d6a7
  10. just think if we could join up and bid as a cooperative and have a share out of parts.even to re sell? wonder how much it will all go for?, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GENUINE-NEW-STOCK...=item3ef9c7c15a
  11. well if you own a tdi, then about 98% of the galaxy is vw,and that includes the alhambra aswell.
  12. mmmmm whats making me smell a rat here???? just had an oil change done...at a garage and did they remove the under tray to do this? and hey presto your going back to same garage to have them take a looksie at the problem? i do hope it is a coincidence and dont cost you a lot of dosh.
  13. Hope you didn't think I was knocking the forum gregers - quite the contrary, it has already saved me several hundred quid. (I used the info here to replace front and rear brake discs and pads.) not at all m8,we all get a bit pissed off when these endless stupid design faults mean repairs have to be done, and its saved me quite a few quid also :)
  14. nice photo, SHAME about the galaxy in the pic though :) :)
  15. dunno why it double posted, did try to remove this 1 but kept getting ips driver error, mmmm wonder if the forums about to go tits up again?
  16. well its either that or a scrappy?? or the dealers by the sound of it,you might be able to find someone whos a boff with electronics? dont forget to visit vw aswell as fords.
  17. well brushes can be replaced, and there realitivly cheap, compared to a new motor?
  18. mmm im sure this has been covered before,im afraid your goner have to search for the answer, unless someone else knows?.
  19. as saif has said defo get your mechanic to give it a good going over, especially the steering problems you have?that way you will know what needs doing. i think the latch is adjustable either on the door or the pillar, the window problems are most likely to be fraid wires in the door boot/s,take a looksie in the faqs in the tech section of the forum for the instructions on how to mend them. oh and welcome to the forum, were all here to help where we can.but not with your kids :D, 5 and another on the way congrats on the imminent new arrival, but can i say BUY A TELE its cheaper :) :)
  20. think you need to look in the rubber boot for broken/fraid wires, there are intructions in the faqs in the tech section.
  21. blue if you do a search you will find a few peeps have had this prblem, the answer afaik is to try again slowly making sure you cover every part of the insructions, good luck.
  22. look in the faqs (tech section)there are detailed instructions on soldering wires especially in the door area. yes it is a bad design how do you think fords and the like keep going...........by designing problems into there cars so peeps like us pay out endlessly to them, hence why forums like this 1 was set up,to save us all a few quid.
  23. have a look in the faqs in the technical section, print the instructions off and keep them safe with your paper work?
  24. just go to somewhere like maplins for the correct gauge of wire/s,and solder away, either use the heatshrink stuff or just tape them up?
  25. RIGHT AN UPDATE,and fingers crossed its now mended  obtained a mk1 passenger motor and regulator, got it cheap off ebay, as my motor is fine i thought id cannibilize the new 1,well for future reference the wires from the mk1 are exactly the same length as the mk 2 and so is the serated plastic spool found in the motor, after a lot of buggering about sorting out what goes where etc i now have a perfectly working drivers window(fingers crossed), so the moral is if you are having similar problems and its only the wires that have overun and stripped the plastic spool you can use the gubbins from a mk 1 to rectify the problem, especially as the prices i was getting back were iro upwards of
