  1. Just sold my 1.4 petrol Golf after 152k miles/11years - often went 20k between oil and filter changes (semi synthetic) - still didnt use a drop when sold. Car not stored in a garage either and frequently abused by others. If only the other bits were as good.......
  2. A lesser oil has not got the specified extra high shear strength to ensure that the camshaft driving the PD injectors dont come into metal-to-metal contact. The consequence would be early and rapid camshaft and PD injector damage, and thats about all.
  3. Isnt it easier/cheaper to change the car?
  4. Did you reinstall the mini air filter? That seemed to make a diffference and I think points to a vacuum related fault. I think you need to strip off the vaccuum pipes. Remember a leak anywhere in the vacuum pipework will affect it. I know I have a small leak where on my vacuum pump outlet joint......leaks to the brake servo are also common.
  5. Yes, thinking about it it is a leak at or after the turbo, i.e. intercooler or pipework. MAF is on the inlet side and thinks everything is OK, so fuelling is unaffected, just insufficient air. But on the other hand the TMAP sensor hasn't tripped the ECU - strange.... Check the intercooler isn't holed and leaking...
  6. Search and ye will Find!
  7. Twist and release just like this search...hint hint result
  8. Close enough.... :D
  9. Has it been chipped or tuning boxed?
  10. Well done, jkspoff! :D Do you feel that sense of a job well done as well as saving a few quid? :D Its not meant to come apart. VW sell the plug/washer togother for 90p. But to be honest, I've never found a great need to change the old one... Well, if youre a pedantic/perfectionist, then yes, but any more than 2/3rd full and it makes a mess screwing it back on.. Not sure you can do this on the new style PD engine filters as it may just drain back to the sump...
  11. Well in my manual, to resync a key, it says, Note: All electric windows must be closed during this procedure
  12. :D :) :D :D             thats a good one.....and when you stopped laughing your supposed to say... (in a loud voice) "what a load of old bollocks......"
  13. Yes the silver lump is the turbo. There should be a tight fitting rubber pipe with a large water hose type clip tightly on it like so.....
  14. have you done this?
  15. Ford web site Why are people so frightened of going and talking to their dealer about warranty issues? My experience is if they can possibly do it, they will, as they make good money on manufacturers warranty claims
  16. NO...they must honour the warranty....... page 20 of service booklet... OBSERVATION ON THE WARRANTY ....just read the terms (of my SEAT warranty) and quite clearly the only getouts are
  17. I should let dealer sort it, it may be a loom problem....
  18. Full service history is not necessary for Body Corrosion warranty AFAIK. (don't think changing the oil would have helped stop the rust...) Take it in and ask...I had a Passat door changed at 5 years and 11 months....and it had never seen a garage.....
  19. remember...gregs is still waiting for a reply to his ad.....
  20. NO! Its not usual, never really seen a rusty galaxy except where sills or wings been damaged. It has a six year body corrosion warranty so check this out first. Are you within the six years? Take it to a dealer and ask, maybe even if its out they may be able to do something.......
  21. Must say your seat trim is a bit girly.....
  22. ...you know what they say about tortoises crossing a busy road.......
  23. Did it snap, strip teeth or become detached?
  24. Isn't the 1.8T engine the one that goes bang with VVT failure/cambelt snapping?
  25. Sounds like ESP.......stay away from my car..... ;) spooky!
