GSMGUY, before you change the TMAP sensor, try this, the pipe that goes to the Boost Control Solenoid that vents to atmosphere (via a mini air filter) - remove it and try without, why? I rememeber reading somewhere that if this gets blocked or restricted when the ECU tries to reduce boost, it can't because the vacuum doesnt reduce fast enough. Hence an overpressure fault... Good luck! D.McB Its very rare to get a faulty Turbo , sometimes the wastegate/vane actuator sticks but by no means a common fault. Give the above a try.

Drop Links - How Many Miles
seatkid replied to wjfe's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As you can see from the above there is no "typical" mileage. It's all down to the luck of the draw. I would say a significant proportion fail (wear) in 30-40k. -
Rogue advice eh? Gearbox problem? - Change gearbox Engine problem? - Change engine Any other problem? - Change car That should fix it... :(

Really? I didn't know that...

I would just like to add that Heinz Beans definitely taste better than Sainsbury's own brand, but personnally I wouldn't pay the price difference..... [must get the last word in...]

Wiper Blade Flew Off

Better buy the brand fitted to Channel Tunnel Trains....in Mission Impossible II you may recall both Tom Cruise and the Bad Guy both clung onto a single wiper at 100+ mph.....  -
OK, I will, but forgive me if I bore anyone. My problem is your loose use of the word "explosive". IGNITION or FIRE is not the same as EXPLOSION. To obtain an explosive atmosphere, you require a body of gas in which the oxygen/fuel ratio lies within a certain range. If that ratio is too low or too high, the atmosphere simply will not explode. (although the fuel may ignite and burn). With petrol, vapour or finely atomised fuel would have to be present in air in a ratio of approximately 14:1 to 18:1 (plus an ignition source) before an explosion will take place. LPG/air mixtures explode over a much wider range of approx 10:1 to 50:1 Basically, if you were to spill petrol on the floor of a (train) compartment, it would take a much longer time for it to vapourise and to reach "explosive" levels compared to spillage or leakage of LPG, which would evaporate quickly and disperse and mix with air in the compartment readily. Much lower quantities of LPG are required as the minimum ratio for explosion is 50:1 c/w 18:1. LPG/Air mixture requires a much lower ignition energy than a petrol/air mixure. Also the fact that LPG is stored under pressure increases the risk of leakage. All in all I tend to agree with the Channel tunnels decision. Remember it is an enclosed environment...Petrol may have more kick than LPG, but it would be a lot more difficult to create an accidental EXPLOSION with petrol than LPG.

I can assure you that in a confined enclosure a flammable gas like LPG is much more likely to lead to an "explosive" atmosphere than a flammable liquid. I wont bore everyone with the technical details..... Just lets say Hollywood has a lot to answer for....

Its probably that common problem, one or both anti roll bar links worn. Fortunately they are not expensive and it is an easy DIY job to change (but needs a bit of muscle). It should be done under warranty if your car is in warranty.

Not sure, as I don't have access to a MK II Check all the small vacuum pipes coming from the turbo - follow them back... Could be the solenoid is actually on the Turbo itself - unsure though.... The pressure sensor is called a TMAP sensor (Turbo Manifold Absolute Pressure) and is located in the pipework going to the intercooler at the top right hand of the engine. I think basically if the ECU doesnt see the expected boost pressure within a certain range/time after it is demanded then it throws a fault and goes into limp home mode (which can be reset by ignition off). Either the boost pressure is really wrong, due to sticky solenoid, or leaky vacuum. Or the signal from the TMAP is wrong (sensor or wiring). I would check vacuum pipes as they often leak/collapse/get bunged up. Maybe the inlet port of the TMAP is gunged up.

Ha! Certain tuning boxes increases fueling, unknown to the ECU. Therefore the reported consumption by a fuel computer is wrong and reads LOW. The only way to check consumption in this case is by hand calculation. No wonder all these people report improved mpg and performance.. ..
-
I would hazard a guess at either Turbo Control Solenoid or Turbo Pressure Sensor. Both of these have vacuum pipes connected which can become detached or leak.

No Steve, Not on the diesels, it is a diesel powered unit with a fuel pump!

The clips that hold the exhaust shields are prone to rust away, so the shields then flap about and rattle.

You only find planet gears on Automatic boxes..... I would check the gear cables and gearlever first. I would agree with MM that it could be a failed CV joint as its in all gears.Jack up one side of the car and with the car in gear. Rotate the lifted front wheel by hand and observe the CV joints and driveshaft. If the driveshaft doesnt turn its the outer CV joint on that wheel. If it turns, look at the inner joint and check that the CV joint (metal bit nearest the gearbox) is turning. Repeat for other side until you checked all CV joints.

Oil that meets spec VW 505.00. A wide range of oils are available that meet this spec :) I would recommend Quantum Synta Gold full synthetic available at VW/Seat Dealers. Quantum Synta Semi-synthetic (silver can) is also very good and cheaper.
