  1. THE ANSWER TO BOTH QUESTIONS IS....YES! Pass me the ear defenders please...
  2. Try an Ericson GA628, get it on a Cellnet PUFFL contract......or am I showing my age?
  3. cheeky idle....never mind :25: I think I see a 2.8 Ghia, 1998.........it has fluffy dice hanging off the mirror and.....is not a '97 model on a '98 plate...which is a completely different kettle of fish..... Probably dirty/faulty ABS sensor or connector thereto. There are 4 of them.... Try here sorry you don't want links...do you? No...F53 is a 10A...oh that might explain why.... flat (key fob) batteries the alarm doesn't have an audio, visual or shock sensor maybe thats why.. ;) check for damp passenger footwell, change pollen filter, turn on airconditioning....if it works that is. ;) Maybe it needs servicing.....or it could be your MAF sensor oops! don't know...pass...where is croydon? it is somewhere near Preston? Possibly What a strange request.... :19:
  4. Wasn't he one of the flower pot men? :D
  5. Its likely to be a dry joint or cracked track/PCB. LEDs are lifetime parts. Strip it down, inspect, fix......
  6. That was assuming a basic 90bhp unit. For 110bhp/115bhp units make that around 18 secs. I'm basing this on my experience when the MAF goes, the 0-60 time goes out to almost 30 secs. Similar story for turbo/vacuum related problems I'm guessing....
  7. This might explain the 3 turns to turn right and 8 turns to turn left MO4 had <_< No...seriously....I would strongly recomend people stick to matching their tyres on a per axle basis, not only make and model, but also age as the tread patterns can vary year to year. If you don't then under extreme circumstances you could end up with the handling of a rice pudding. :o
  8. Find somewhere where you can time a 0-60mph run. If it can do it in under 20 secs, your engine/turbo/MAF is OK.
  9. Its a 90's rock band I think....
  10. Somebody once posted that there is a TDC mark on the pulley end also. If in doubt, remove no.1 injector - (maybe no1. glow plug would do) and stick in a stiff wire/welding rod and use that.
  11. Unlike me who is here, purely for selfish reasons... I always enjoy a debate about the use and abuse of grammar  points......good.......egg......mmm better......pie.....drool...best!
  12. MO4 ...... accurately describe symptoms?......no comment....
  13. And where did you get that little gem from? Go with Continental and you won't go wrong.....
  14. Light grey smoke = incomplete combustion. Either due to worn/caked injectors - but this would be seen everytime you floor the throttle from idle, or timing is out as you say due to sloppy cambelt replacement.
  15. I see a number of posts/threads are being pulled, by Bigjeeze some supposedly by request of VR6. Are these people the same person? This all smacks of what happened a year or more ago with a couple of other members - VR6Galaxy IIRC and his alter egos. What concerns me is some good information may be deleted as was the case last time. I also notice that some former member(s) have disappeared off the members list, implying whole threads have disappeared.
  16. Thats quite good for a MO4 thread, she's getting better :D Now you're starting sound like a qualified main dealer mechanic :D Thought you'd wear some gloves.....don't expect hubby would be too pleased if you got dirty/broken fingernails.... :D
  17. lets face it.....mo4 should buy a new car.... :D
  18. check the pipe going into the vacuum reservoir, this is a small globe located at the front of the engine about halfway down. Could be loose. This post has some information about the vacuum system, however a number of images have disappear because the people who contributed them have pulled them. :D
  19. Interesting, a new MAF that was faulty.... I trust you sent the MAF back and demanded a refund AND compensation.
  20. You could change your car - that'll fix it. :D
  21. IE7 requires you install WGA. Since my Sony Vaio magically turned into a "pirate" after a year working OK, and the best part of a day getting Microsoft support to fix it with no apology, I now refuse to install WGA. Tried Opera, but it only worked on admin account and not on user accounts. So IMO security sux. Firefox is fine for me.....
  22. Good guide Hairy.... :o
  23. My only tip when going to France is to make an immediate left turn and head for Germay ASAP. :o
