  1. If your fuel injector has a fault I reckon it won't start, the ECU will not allow it. Also just because a starter will spin on the bench doesn't indicate its not faulty. If brushes or commutator are worn, not all windings could be working and so you only have half a working starter!
  2. Limp home mode is usually triggered by boost pressure anomolies (too high or too low). Usually caused by leaking/blocked vacuum pipes, (inc leaking brake servo), sticky actuator on the turbo, or less often, sensors such as the MAP sensor (but NOT the MAF sensor). Usually brought on when you put your foot down - the boost doesnt stay in the correct band and ........ Limp mode is reset when you restart the ignition.
  3. Woah! Before you bung this up, IIRC (depending on model) there should be a pipe connected to the ECU. IIRC it comes from the boost piping that runs down the battery side of the engine.
  4. Ahem, the speedtouch is actually quite a good modem. I am suspicious about your figures though. 7.6Mb/s ? Do you live next door to the telephone exchange? And is that upload speed 317 b/s(slow) or 317 kb/s (too fast!) ?? Sounds like the ADSL "training" is not working.....
  5. Front pads - push in Rear Pads - Wind back Lots of people and garages just push the fluid back. If you do this, do it gently to avoid seal flipping. Watch the fluid container doesnt over flow in case someones topped it up. At the end, bleed some fuid if you can to remove the inevitable crap. If you have some time and patience its recommended to release the fluid at the same time you push back, to avoid debris reaching ABS conrtol block. I have my reservations about "clamping" the brake hose though.
  6. Its the wrong trousers! temperature sender! GSF has lots of wrong items listed, just check VWsharan vs Seat Alhambra and you will see what I mean. Wrong length belts etc. No problem for me as the local gsf is only 1/2 mile away. But for something like a sensor, I would always go to my VW dealer (not my Seat dealer) as they check reg no. to get engine no. to get correct part. AFAIK there are at least 3 different temperature sensors....
  7. Try this speed test to confirm your slow internet. Check it again at 2 or 3 am. You could be on an over subscribed exchange. ISPs like Tiscali just keep adding more and more people to shared the same feed and not upgrade their capacity. Tiscali is cheap and has "unlimited" useage so attracts those bandwidth hogging p2p pigs who feck it up for everyone else. Best to search for a Tiscali forum who no doubt will have plenty to say on the subject....... If youre outside your contract period, and the problems continue, you might want to consider another ISP.
  8. Who is your ISP? Sounds like youv'e been "throttled" for excessive useage. Alternatively it may be a setup or other problem with your modem. If you use a router, then turn it off and back on again.
  9. Don't think changing the battery will make any difference.
  10. Sorry luv, but you should place your query in the "Vauxhall Vectra,Zafira and other old dustbins" section ;) p.s. I just ordered a new Corsa
  11. The airbag light could very well have been triggered by your battery/alternator problem. Once the airbag fault is triggered, it needs to be reset by a diagnostic machine such as the dealers computer or several diy kits such as vag-com. Its a 2 minute job. IMO its highly unlikely you have a faulty module. Clocksprings are sometimes a problem. Try a forum search and you should find quite a lot of information on airbag problems.
  12. As they say "Houston...we have a problem...." ;) However most forum members would gladly exchange your problem for theirs.... :D"Why is it so fekking hot in ere?..." Fraid its a look see TIS wiring circuit job and work your way back from the compressor socket. :16:
  13. 1. Try a new pollen filter. 2. Try spraying dettol air freshener on recirc setting (lowest fan speed) into the intake under the passengers side. 3. If all else fails you need one of those antibac treatment kits or a nose clip.... :16: Mine never smells.....I'm a clean living guy...... ;)
  14. From your lucid explanation I think you probably need a mechanic.... :16: Sounds like the steering wheel needs to come off....
  15. In which case its obvious they fitted the wrong isolator switch or connected it up wrong. Scoobydoobydoo!! ;) :D :16:
  16. Tip: lower the sails and you'll find it easier to tow... :16:
  17. Or buy a nice large scale road map or atlas for
  18. Use Ccleaner (its free) Also install SpywareBlaster if you havent got it already. 2 Essential programs that keep your computer from getting bogged down with crap.
  19. In that case the answer is yes....how do I know? I don't..... just guessing the biodiesel is the culprit and some engine damage is the result.... Try ordinary diesel for a while and see if it gets better.
  20. Embarassed? It happens to us all....
  21. If it works don't touch it. You're wasting your money. Get it topped up if it stops working or you feel its underperforming badly. Dryer only needs changing if the system has been taken apart to have major bits changed or there has been complete loss due to say a big hole in the condensor.
  22. Your windows were left open overnight?
  23. The garage shouldn't have touched this.... Should be a tight sealed fit, no leaks. Looks like something is missing. Hope nothing has pulled off and dropped into the camcover....... Anyone with a 2.3 like to examine theirs?
  24. ??? Cillit bang! and some paint. If you remove the steering wheel, the airbag warning light may come on. This has to be reset via a diagnostic tool - VAGCOM or the dealers computer... Also don't know if airbags etc are compatible between different models - good possibility they're not.
  25. AFAIK the cc models have air flaps controlled by servo motors. The flap is stuck in the hot position. Try a search, I'm sure theres information and even photos about these. I have a feeling you can get to these either via the glove box or the radio housing. I would try cycle the CC from HI to LO several times (waiting 30 secs in between) to see if it "unsticks" the flap. Another thing to try is to disconnect the battery for 2- 3 mins (check you have your radio code before you do this) as I have seen the CC software get screwed up at least once.
