Good point MM, but I've noticed it locked sometimes immediatly after getting out of the driver seat
-
Actually a friend :P yes really I have one  also mentioned the tailgate I sometimes find it's locked when the other doors are unlocked I've not had a reocurrence yet to check the led indicator in the door because I'm using t' spare key successfully at the mo.

Before I start spending money on parts I want to test the water on the following possibly which I have been reluctant to moot  clutching at straws springs to mind :( If the immobiliser doesn't "reckognise" a key, would it prevent subsequent attempts at the use of any keys for a period of time before allowing further attempts? I recently had reason to leave my keys hidden outside, near the car, for a few nights. It so happens that one of those nights reached minus 5 degrees... I have started to use the spare key while running the car, so that I can lock it and leave it running if its only a short stop (it only has the intermittent fault after brief stops) and it has never failed to start when I use the spare key. I'm wondering if sub zero temperatures can damage the chip in the key? :o Sounds desperate huh? :o

ok - I'm going to have to start replacing things i think anyone know how much a g-box selector switch is ? :( Ya know what really sucks?... :o  warranty direct wont cover some electrical switches! :o
-
:( Well I had the ignition switch changed - the same fault occasionally appears... or rather doesn't appear - when anyone gets to check for faults because it clears itself, sometimes within 30/40 mins :o In desperation I took it to a main ford dealer for a diagnostic hook up, expecting to pay an hours labour (

Heard a faint whistling sound accompanied with a smell of burning the other day, like a fan belt slipping but much more muffled. revved engine but that noise kept the same pitch - so think it wernt fan belt related. Car wouldn't start yesterday - instrumentation lights come on but wont crank. can feel/hear automatic selector lever switch operating. got it towed to an auto electrician mate - finally traced it to ignition barrel. Thinking back...thats about where I "looked at the whistling" He says disconnect battery for a while if it re-occurs (for now), it did - that trick dint work. tried it several times before phoning a mate to tow me back. He arrives in about half hour - "just check before we put the rope on... huh it started! drove to electrics shop to leave it there overnight for early attention - turned off... restarts ok...twice - then wont! Any idea if this sounds right gents? Is it a big / special tool jod to fit a replacement

Tyre Damage And Mot / Performance Issue
Dave-G replied to italiastar's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I agree with seatkid most likely suspect is the maf and imo the belt either works as it should - or snaps - there is no inbetween, and I suggest your bosses freind had a separate issue with his car -
 I think I've dropped a dangly bit here - even though the pump was on direct feed, the engine management would'nt be working because it's on the same fuse - DOH  I'd like to disconnect the entire AC to try the fuse again - but wouldn't know where to start. Guess it's time to let myself get shafted
-
I've fed a direct 12v to the fuel supply pump and it pumps ok - but I cant get the car to start due to a flat battery, which I'm now going to charge up

Hi MM - Sorry mate I've been a bit busy on other things - and have'nt had time to further explore this - or reply to your own post regarding the "modern cavalier manners" of some drivers. Actually, thats not fair to cavaliers. You only have to give way to see just how few drivers even half-heartedly raise their hand as a gesture of thanks It's a sign of the times that some people are just too tied up in their lives to offer a word of thanks. As I write this I think of my first post - and those stalwarts who assisted me... A few shine out - and seem to answer almost every thread. For my part I rarely reply - which reflects how little I know about the subjects concerned I've just realised I'm replying to the wrong thread - but we know it's to the right guy and its my own thread I hijacked, so just keep up the good work mate To answer your question - the fuse pops immediatly power passes through it. I have recovered the car to my home and am contemplating removing the plug from the top of the tank sender/pump which has been costed to about

Right... me bro ( passenger  )had AA cover but there was not an AA mechanic in leic's till 6Am so they sent someone else... who did'nt have any diagnostic kit He suspects fuel problem - sprays easy start into air inlet while I crank...it runs on it... no. 14 fuse blown (Fuel supply/engine management/AC) - and blows every time the ignition switch is turned on cant fix - and we're allready at a ford dealer so he shoots off In an attempt to isolate the problem I have disconected the lead from the AC compressor - wot's siezed up anyway (and the display flashes at start-up has done for a while now) and still it blows the fuses So It's looking like the fuel supply pump has shorted out... and we just KNOW that mr main dealer is going to be booked up for two weeks or so... now to try to find where it is! EDIT It's apparantly in the fuel tank - how do I depressurise, access and change it? Is there then any reactivation sequence to re-pressurise before starting? Further edit perhaps the pressurisation is only in the pipework after the fuel supply - as the fuel tank itself cant be pressurised I'm talking to myself here - 48 views but no replies... got to go move move it now

 It's frikkin dead :) Whilst driving in town this evening the engine "stopped" I was lucky enough to be able to freewheel to a layby - outside the local ford dealer of all places! The cambelt still looks intact - and was changed about three months ago It seems to be turning over normally Interestingly I have noticed what appears to be a diagnostic code shown by the drivers door led - with the ignition key turned to the on position It fashes rapidly at first - but after a couple of minites it changes to: 3 flashes - small gap - 1 flash - long gap Then repeat's this several times before showing nothing at all It's still dead at this moment, any ideas mateys?

"little buggers" :) Thats being offensive towards retaining clips ... the P C Association will be in touch B) off topic I know but can anyone tell me why I cant upload this as my avatar:

"personal experience by armchair theoreticians." Marcus - I have been there, done that, and had numerouse slippages mate  which is why I felt qualified to point out the danger
-
You WILL get a loss of power steering if you drive through a puddle of water while cornering - even worse - it occurrs spasmodically. power steering becomes extremely hard if power is lost - imagine it slipping then catching then slipping again... Maybe marcus has been lucky enough to get his belts wet only on the straight parts of his neighourhood - but here in leicester wet belt slip is alive and well What price your life? or the kid that maybe got in the way of an AVOIDABLE FAILURE
-
:) But the scientific way to accurately test that device is... B) :) unplug it and test drive. :) :P if it runs with zest tha maf is knacked  EDIT to host this pic
