Loose Bolt
Neils TDi again replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The Larger part fo the adjuster should act like a cog into a set of teeth on the body of the pump, as it rotates it ratchets along and tensions the belt. You then lock the position using the the smaller through bolt. If its been left loose the teeth that it is supposed to engage with may have been worn away. -
Loose Bolt
Neils TDi again replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hold the large hexagon with a ring spanner and do up the 13mm hexagon with a socket wrench as the 13mm is the locking bolt for the large hexagon adjuster on the tension of you r power steering belt, the bolt screws into the cast housing of the pump soif its not locking thenthe thread may be stripped and a new pump will be needed. -
Power Steering Belt
Neils TDi again replied to oafcowl's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
!3 mm open ended spanner 13 mm socket 10mm socket and a 17mm ring spanner. Get vehicle on ramps or securely raised, NOT JACKS Remove engine understray 13 mm socket up in wheel arch on chassis and ten mm socket at rear by exhaust exit point. Then using 13mm spanner slacken rear bolt of Power steering pump and front bolt that goes through the 17mm adjuster head. Slacken adjuster off remove belt. Fitting is reverse. To be honest even with the tray fitted it can be done in abotu 20 minutes max. the alternator belt is inside the Power Steering belt and it may be time to change that as well as you need to remove the Power Steering belt to change the alternator belt. I would love to post a picture but I havent got the MK1 anymore and the TIS images are frowned upon, but I am sure someone will have the pictures for you soon. -
Temperature Light Flashing
Neils TDi again replied to makil6's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
On the back of the expansion tank (filler bowl) is a sensor for coolant level if its come out of its socket it will flash constantly like you describe. Check the connector to make sure. -
Washed Engine Now Wont Start
Neils TDi again replied to suzuki91's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It would appear that either the starter motor is jammed in or the solenoid is shorting out i would remove the starter motor and clean all the contacts and ensure the cable is not broken, the fiesta engine being transverse has a habit of breaking the conductors inside the cable insulator so its not always obvious when the cable is broken and it then becomes veryhig h resistance and gives similar symptoms as you describe. -

Vista Taking The Pista
Neils TDi again replied to adrianf.'s topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Vista dont like anything USB !!! Specially modems and ADSL modems. AOL are now issuing ethernet modems only or routers as they are the only comms medium recognised by Vista. -
The water pump is behind the Timing belt so if the entire pump is replaced the belt needs to be done however you can purchase an impellor and front flange for the pump which means the belt does nothave to be removed and replaced. I am sure someone who has access to the service information will be along and will confirmt or dispell this.

Introductions & 1st Posting - Wind Noise Drivers Door
Neils TDi again replied to bodgerd's topic in Trainee member help
How about the plastic door liner (inside the door behind the panel) that stops wind from the door handle and lock area from entering the passenger compartment, if this has been disturbed through a replacement glass or lock maybe it hasnt been replaced correctly. This would account for the window up or window down making no difference. -
Or ask Mumof4 she is a wizz with wiper !!!!!!

It is possible you have a drity track on the throttle pedal sensor and the ecu loses the position during hard acceleration, i had it with my MK1 it would eventually result in the MIL being lit and Limp Home mode cutting in. Using the diagnostic it is possible to see the first trip fault logged if you can catch it before you switch the engine off. Alternatively it may be the throttle positon sensor in the intake manifold the same can occur.

Introductions & 1st Posting - Wind Noise Drivers Door
Neils TDi again replied to bodgerd's topic in Trainee member help
One last test to perform. Tape the edges of the drivers door to the body, gain entry to the vehicle from the passenger door and do a run up the main road or motorway. My feelings would be that the top of the door is sprung out slightly hence "catching" the wind. -

Do you have any aftermarket electyrical items fitted to the car ? Anything which can potentially absorb current after the ignition is switched off will have the ability to cause the alarm to activate. Even teh boot switch can cause an activation, the contacts i believe are pads in the edge of the boot. Even such an inoquuous item such as a Sat NAv can cause the activation as it changes current draw when it goes into sleep mode. Good luck.

The warning symbol if it illuminates after about 10 mph then it is most likely to be a wear indicator on the rear brake pads. Might pay to have them checked for wear before too much panic sets in.

Have had exactly the same problem it is the wiring in the door post, the "deadlock" is activated and unable to de-activate. A broken wire is preventing the lock being energised to release, using a wiring digram you should be able to "jump" power to the lock module and release the door then do a pucker repair as in the FAQs at the beginning of the tech section.

Clutch Pedal
Neils TDi again replied to Richard gal's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its a known fault with the main/slave cylinder and will progressively worsen. The solution is to fit a new master cylinder which is a major job, then if that also fails you have to fit a new master cylinder again and have the slave changed also. This requires the removal of the gearbox as it is an integral part of the clutch plate and can only be changed as part of a clutch change. I have the same and am about to get the shooting match changed. -
Ask for help and not describe what you want very good idea......

Try clicking on mine does it work ? The reason for the originals not working is that the link is converted to text and is now split on two lines, if you highlight and copy the text then paste it into the browser address bar it will work.
-
Then this set would be fine as far as I can see. Oh and BTW this is how to do it Mumof4 (linkies !)
-
Be very careful the second set are specifically for the 15" wheels, are yours 15 or 16 and are they original or aftermarket ?
