It will not be a problem providing you get the pump version as a front flange and impellor, if they try to sell you the whole housing then the entire timing belt and cover have to be removed. Its the same as the Audi 1.9 and also the VW Golf but as I said make sure its the impellor and flange and not the entire pump housing and its a matter of undoing a few bolts and pipes removing the accesory belt and bobs your aunt.

It would appear from your description of the solution that the amplifier in the ignition switch housing has a bad connection in either the loom of the connector immediatley below the ignition switch, its not uncommon to see such failures as this with increased moisture or temperature. It may be that the humidity level in the area where you left the vehicle was the cause or it may have just been a coincidence and the oxidation of the connectors was on the verge of causing hte intermitttent contact anyway. But best its checked out as it could prove very embarrasing if you happen to stall it and then it refuses to start.

The inhibitor switch is active in both Park and Neutral so if your having problems set the gearselector to neutral and Place your foot on the brake pedal as it is often linked to the neutral position before start is enabled, some european model Galaxies have this as a requirement so the old age problem of Brake Light Switch could also be an issue here, have you checked your brake lights are working ?

I use a generic code reader which will return the values and then I use the internet to search for the strings and it seems to be fairly reliable method. VAGCOM will only return known VAG code lists anything else will be blank.

The interior parrt of the door lock has stuck in the lock position and will not release unless the key is used on the outside. Quite possibly the casting has broken and the spring will be snagged into the lock mech itself. Strip and refit with new parts is probably the only answer.

OK Surely by now it has become clear the edit button has gone to prevent the malicous use of the edit facility where a disgruntled member can delete or edit his own post making a thread useless or worse misleading. Until trust returns the edit button is likely to remain a distant memory. Accept that it will be a while and forget it cos when it comes back it will be a new pleasure for us all.
