  1. Remove the head rests and tip front seats forward for the easiest way You also need to make sure the catches are going in the correct place while gripping the bars together.
  2. You would have to replace the whole thing really.
  3. Is the key faulty, ie trying to lock/unlock?.. use a non remote key for a few days to prove.
  4. Its easy on 1.9 diesel, disconnect battery, remove air filter casing, hold tensioner away from belt with adjustable spanner on the tab, remove belt, remove fixing bolts and release cables, (all from the top of engine bay)
  5. The recharge means it was on the shelf in late 2007. If you have a voltmeter put it across the battery terminals, with engine off it will be about 11v, start it up and should be able to get to about 14.5v after a few mins, dipping to 13v with lots of things on. Checking Amps is a little more difficult
  6. I thought all ford badges were double sided spongy tape?
  7. Its not the towball that can be the problem its the lighting socket/s, they need to be low down moe or less UNDER the bumper
  8. My car had the same spec when bought, so along with the CD changer i needed the cable as the one already fiited in the loom was the wrong type at BOTH ends, I had thought it was connected to the radio and just needed the CD changer.
  9. Mine is possibly for sale (new Smax permitting) in the comeing 2 weeks at
  10. I have that sat nav and they didnt fit CD changer as standard, i had to add it, its is a special VW one and also the installed cable didnt suit, ... So you will also need a new CD changer!
  11. I am not an expert particularly on towing but I cannot believe that you allow your motor to run at max revs for long whilst towing - surely you drop into a higher gear asap? Even if you believe the EGR does nothing - why does it clog up? Soot from the exhaust mixing with a little breather oil, ...........yes it does do something, it stops the fuel burning too hot and giving full power,............. but saves the world!
  12. Had one fitted today, well i took the unit off and had the (genuine) pulley supplied and fitted for
  13. i have same problem, Calling all galaxy owners, HELP US !!!!! Page 108 of handbook, does not always work first time.
  14. The egr valve is there to reduce nitros oxides by "killing" flames with a little Co2 from the exhaust, and also stops a complete burn of your fuel, Hence my better emissions readings on the mot. Nitros oxides are not tested at MOT time in the uk. As for thrashing it clean, it gets little else!, and was under full load towing when the turbo gave up.
  15. Made enquires and it seems mine could be any one of 3 versions and with the cost of a tool decided to remove the alternator and take it to some one who can get hold of the correct pulley and fit it at a good price. PS Ford (at least my dealer) do not now supply pulleys, only alternators... perhaps the time and tool cost isnt worth it to them?
  16. Another update. Today it went for MOT test and still with the egr disabled it passed its emissions test with half of the last year and the previous years readings, so i have gone green! Alternator pulley has locked up though!
  17. May need a new belt if its original.
  18. It may be siezed up, the linkage does that ob galaxys, do a search.
  19. Cannot think the starter motor has any contact when not actually starting itt
  20. garrat and borg warner dont sell parts, so recon ones are built with copy parts, 12m warranty but you dont want to fit another every 3 months!. I got one from Midland turbos, shipped from maker, about
  21. you can tell what the engine is by the engine code anu = 90 auy = 115 asz = 130 asz1 = 150 hope this helps What made a 150?, a tweek to a 130?... if so what tweek???!
  22. I think its the bearing, due to the noise varying according to the loading on turns, i dont think the cv would do that. To prove, dip the clutch while turning to take the load off the CV
