  1. You can test them by taking them out and using jump leads, earth on the threads and positive on the terminal and watch it get red hot... so be CAREFUL!
  2. Dont want to worry you too much (as you might just have spilled the water), but when the belt stopped turning so did the water pump and it could have blown the headgasket, hence water from the other end of the engine, or possibly a core plug pushed out a little.
  3. Re-reading the first post its possible something major has happened to the flywheel and or teeth.
  4. The Photos are good A picture paints a thousand words!
  5. You can unclip the cambelt cover and pull it far enough away to see if the belt is ok.
  6. Just how do you get fluid in?... a shringe with a pipe on it?
  7. UPDATE! The car has been in for a 30K service and dealer could find nothing wrong with driveshafts or bearings and said thought grinding was engine cover touching radiator cowling, i had a look with a view of trimming it back but as it was rubber mounted I doubted it. Anyway having a look from underneath i spotted the NS engine mount twisted, and after removing battery and its tray sure enough it was loose and moving about, anyway all aligned and retightened and its sorted! Shame i got
  8. Swap the wheels front to back, it made a difference on mine.
  9. Is it fitted with standard wheels? It is possible that the tyres might be fouling on the inner wings Garage should check it out for a modest charge. It has the original Alloy wheels (and tyres), I will check, but it does not have to be anywhere near full lock to get the noise, just a bit of turn and lots of gas... well diesel! grinding noise rather than knocking noise possible wheel bearing or possible loose badly fitted trim in wheel arch When you say hard left hand turn do you mean pulling away with left hand lock or going fast and hard into a corner Its just a little left turn pulling away hard, eg leaving a large roundabout, much more noticable if uphill.
  10. welcome to the forum bad news - ~If you only have one key then you need to get ford/vw to code another (pats-unlock and start/trun the car) if you get anymore keys you can code them yourself but ypu need two working keys to do this  pats coding remote coding both of these are in the faq (click on the red link in my signature) put your car details in your signature it helps everyone help you :angry2: Thanks for that and signature updated! Depends if you have the transmitters or if its fed through the stereo? Mine is a custom install and has an IR Transmitter (Dual Channel) located at the rear, some monitors have these transmitters built in designed for ya headphones. I find it strange you never got any with it though? Did who ever you bought it from not explain? Oh welcome to the madhouse! It is factory installed, so how do you tell if its transmitted or fed through stereo?, it does have 4 haedphone sockets though. I got it cheap at auction so not much backup on finer details! Is it fitted with standard wheels? 11. Hi everyone!, new to Galaxy owning! I have just bought a 54 reg 130hp tdi Ghia at auction. There are a few things that i cant find out in the book. 1. It is fitted with DVD players in the head rests and a picture shows on the screen but no sound, do i need Head phones (none with the car) to hear anything? 2. Also it has the sat nav/ radio unit but no CD changer at the O/S/rear side pocket of the car, with no sign there ever was one as the hole for the wire has a proper bung in it and no spare wires underneath, seems a strange option to me. There is a cd slot in the radio but seems its only for the sat nav data CD 3. The car drives really well but there is a slight grinding noise when pulling hard on left hand turns from i think the drive shaft, its similar to a worn out brake pad noise. 4. I only got 1 key (remote type), what is involved in getting another, can a new one be programmed with the existing one? I would be very grateful for any info on these things
