  3. the door hinges are attached to the door and then welded to the car so small variations in position may cause you some problems (hearsay - there was a thread about this a while ago)
  4. the programming syncs the key and car - this is what the dealer will do although they may initiate the sequence with their software/hardware... a dealer will be able to check the remote - apparently takes a couple of minutes
  5. does the little led on the door do anything odd? - I know that the petrol and diesel variants implement the pAT system differently petrols wont start and diesels start and die (or vice versa) - if you have a second key try that

  10. if it has cl it wont necessarily have the domes i think the Ired system was phased out in 1997 and the op has a 1998 gal so it will be a radio version
  11. as I said elsewhere I wondered if your dodgy wiring was causing the car to lose/roll over the code
  12. now thinking about this - you have to open then drivers door lock to start the programming - using that key and then use the remote key so it may not like the fact that 2 different keys are being used although how it knows??
  13. cant see why the new lock should affect the cl - does the cl operate other doors or not at all - pop into fords and ask them to test the fob (they have a m/c and apparently takes a couple of seconds to do)
  14. in later models the control module was moved on to the bulkhead and the parking sensor control under then passenger seat

  16. why not try a nicontinell lozenge? might just ease the grumpiness but then again you are a woman ....... :D
  17. at a guess you have wiring problems in the rubber boots between the doors/tailgate and the car - very common SEE items 31 and 43 in the faq - click on the link in my signature you will need 3 posts before you can see the pictures though - click on options top right and download the topic as html as a temporary work around

  20. not absolutely sure where you are trying to get through but you can drop a wire down from the central cubby to behind the climate unit above the center console, you need to remove the lid and unscrew the lining of the cubby - torx screws IIRC hole is on the RHS
  21. plastic impellor loose on the water pump shaft!
  22. look at the left hand stalk - it should have a button on the end and a slide switch close to the end on the front for the cruise control
