Probably good idea to work out some timed 'courses' to do before an after to take away the subjective feeling :10: -_-

NikpV replied to lydanial's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II

sorry I have an auto - how quick are you at changing gears :16: :16: :16: Try the maf disconnect test - no difference - get a new one, if it drives like a dog then wait for some figures - its always gonna drive like a dog compared to your imprezza but I wonder how that would be 7 up  :) :) . . . . . . . .crowded I bet
-
So have you sorted it - the wiper not the Hubby  if so how did it go??
-
sorry I couldn't manage a whole one :16:  :16: I have toyed with the idea of Improving my design using a demi-john (you know the bottles used for fermenting wine) - much larger volume enables a more sustainable vacuum to be developed and you could mark the side in litres. Unfortunately I have never got around to it. I'm sure I must qualify for the 'Ivor_E_Tower' award for DIY here :16: :) :)

With CC set at 75mph 40mpg is not unreasonable perhaps a bit low - I've an auto and would get about 37mpg at that speed you will get much better figures with the cc set to 55-60mph. We got a distinct improvement when we replaced out MAF (about 5mpg at 55mph speeds - slightly less at 75+). How many miles has your car done? There is some evidence that the MAF deteriorates by about 50K miles and will affect your mpg and acceleration. See the following links Maf sensor thread include maf in scheduled maintenance If you end up changing it have a look at the FAQ - click on faq in my signature for instructions Rather than stating your car etc whenever you ask a question/post why not put the details in your signature - click on signature in my sig line As to tuning boxes - less than convinced, I believe they give more bhp but at what cost to the engine - don't believe the increased mpg though - meware of either increasing your insurance due to modification or invalidating it if you dont tell them (in the case of an accident)

probably not on your age of galaxy - if fitted ultrasonic volume alarms are on the top of the B-pillars cant see it has anything to do with central/remote locking either - see diagram (actually a sharan - but is the same) besides zetec did not have remote cl as standard, prior to '98 gals were fitted with IrD remotes with sensors near rear veiw mirror but yours is too modern Possibly something to do with heated front screen which divided into two - how heavy duty was it ??

It would help if you could tell us what model/year/trim car you have - best put in your signature line then you can forget it

Anyone Know How To Remove The Mk2 Climate Unit?
NikpV replied to muffking's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
ATC??? initialised with WDS???? oh btw which stupid muppet designed cup holders above all these nice little fiddley to clean buttons... my climate control is stickier than a toffee left in its wrapper in a hot car tucked down in the door pocket until its found and ....whatever.. ATC automatic temperature control - set the required temp on the display and the aircon runs until its reached WDS - computer used by ford mechanics to set/read data from car -
umm I looked up the 115Ps so my answer may not apply

Of Course you could always make your own - I use this kit, made from a TOYSRUS paddling pool pump, the tube from a VAX wet and dry vacuum cleaner and some different sized dreschel bottles I happened to have in the shed. I usually use a 2l bottle to do half year oil changes on my poor old escort diesel - does 2 miles to work and two miles home and nothing else!!!. Seen here doing an oil change after changing the MAF - unfortunately I can only balance a small bottle on the trim of the galaxy. Ps it really makes a lot of difference if the oil is warm

It appears you have a de-icing switch on the evaporator I would guess this performs the same operation as Johnb80's ice sensor - Remove passenger air bag, glove box and frame to access. Is the intermittent nature of the fault regular/predictable - in other words does it always work under some circumstances - you get my drift ?
-
Elsawin - jointed extension socket wrench required - no mention of dropping the gearbox not a 115bhp then ??
-
thank-you for that
-
does ekta do procedures - 'how to remove ....' like tis and elsawin or just exploded diagrams?
-
yes - shouldn't be putting any load on the system then :P - oh well just a thought
-
just a thought - wouldn't be something like air con compressor starting to sieze (or any other pullies) but only happenning when engine is hot - making belt slip/squeak and forcing the alternator to run slow ?????
-
now you don't want the job done twice do you ? :P :P :P

not tried but it may be easier to remove arm, fit spring and replace arm, in order to get access to replace spring the arm needs to be bent away from the body putting the spring under greater tension trying to imagine the conversation here ... "I pulled it and it just came off in my hand dear.... :P :P " springs to mind, lightheartedly relieving the tension before shuffling off this mortal coil. :P :P

me ... I'm not suggesting anything ..... :P
