  1. are the mafs different for Mk1 and mk2 1.9, 1.9pd, 2.0 2.3 and 2.8 cars in which case its going to be harder getting a discount - are petrol derivatives less sensitive to maf problems?
  2. Did you spilll any into the little well in front of the filling spout - there is a little hole here which had gathered some crud (which I cleaned out) I assume that it will drain out somewhere under the car but haven't tried it. Could this have happened - if some crud was in the yube it may take time to seep out ?? There is some sort of escape valve in the top of the filler tube - if I want to top the tank right up I usually press the top of the pump nozzle against it to let the air out, if some deisel had goe through there it may take some time to find its way down??
  3. Just linking some pictures from another thread so you can get there via the faq some pictures here
  4. ok - I set up a wireless router on blueyonder for my mil about 6 months ago - and boy I remember the 'Limited connectivity' - I've set up a few networks for friends etc but I couldn't solve this problem - in the end I had to phone their tech support. It was solved using some obscure command (to me at least - network gurus will probably know) in dos, unfortunately I can't remember it. After sorting that out the rest of the setup went like a breeze :D when you right-click the icon on the taskbar and select status, click on the support tab, you should have ip address 192.168.1.??? in the top box where ??? can be a number between 2-253 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 this bit is all about the computer communicating to the router if this is all ok then you need to get the router set up to talk to blueyonder - this is where you need the info from your present connection
  5. T30 - all torx bolts around the handle in the edge of the door
  6. You hear lots of stories about dodgy transactions/chargebacks with paypal but I have to say I've received over
  7. obviously feeling better :D :D :P
  8. Don't forget to pop in and say hello once in a while :( I assume its NOW :D :D :D :(
  9. give it time - although as you pointed out we've just had that discussion :D
  10. have you tried uplugging the maf since - might be worth it given the age of the car, quite a few posts recently seem to be implying that while not failing the maf loses part of its range/sensitivity around 50k miles - you never know you might get a further improvement. I wonder why it would make such a difference between the air filter and maf ? Mind you I expect unfiltered air may not have done the maf a lot of good
  11. agreed I was commenting on the video :( :D :D
  12. Until I read your post I had decided to change it every 50k (cars done 64k) but seeing that it made such a difference to you at 44k I think I might schedule a change at 40k miles. I cant really remember when the performance started going downhill (or at least not going uphill :D :D)
  13. Ok for a 1.9 tdi
  14. for a 1996 2.0 petrol sharan there are no less than 4 different configurations of ribbed and v belt listed - here they are ....the first ones with air con
  15. I particularly like the bit on the video where he 'discovers' that the large 'o' ring is too big to fit where the small 'o' ring goes - I can just see the techies from morton-thiokol fitting the 'o' rings on the solid rocket booster before bolting it to the challenger space shuttle :D :D
  16. here or on whatever p2p you use :D :D
  17. halfrauds? is there any (easyish) way you can take it out without the tools? halfords - probably get tools from there
  18. good mpg - interesting time to be taking a picture though :D
  19. waiting for the postman then :D
  20. have you tried mounting the image using imagedrive - failing that get a copy of daemon tools and mount the image with that, you can then install if the image is not corrupt. Incidentally thats how I installed my elsawin :D :D (mine wasn't from a p2p source though)
  21. you will also have a gap below head unit (based on mk2- dont have a mk1) so a fascia blanking plate + harness adapter like ebay item 9732832970 would be needed - check with seller or go to a local ICE shop - try halfrauds
  22. assuming you have a 2.3 mk2 have a look here diagramatic of aux belt its helpful to put your car details somewhere :D
  23. urm i dont know, do i? i thought it was a sinple swap job...power cables to power, speaker cables to speaker, ariel to ariel, job done. whats this iso? Iso - just a standard connector - non-oem head units usually have a standard (iso) set of sockets on the back, for a few quid you buy a iso to your make/model of car harness adapter. Thats certainly what I've always done. The problem with the individual wire approach is identifying the wires :D
