  1. I don't think anybody has any query about pressure testing with nitrogen its been covered before many times, I was agreeing with gadgetoid's doubt about what the aircon man was telling him, nobody was questioning the usefulness of that wonderfully cheap inert gas formally known as azote. The point being that without some sort of isotopic analysis (expensive and fiddly in a garage environment) and some isotopically different (from the atmosphere) nitrogen it would be impossible to look for a leak by detecting the escaping nitrogen with a sniffer. ps whats the point of another pm you have yet to respond to the first
  2. your point being ? the statement being questioned was the assertion that 'they were using a sniffer to detect nitrogen' not that they do pressure test with nitrogen how is this, albeit informative procedure, connected to this question?
  3. umm car details would be useful even essential here, if its a vr6 then I think its an engine out job, upper is hydraulic, lower mechanical on a ratchet which may tighten on the next pawl of the ratchet. (not sure about 2.3) ps put your car details in your signature - folks here will have a better chance of helping you
  4. read the FINE manual surely :( :( :D
  5. Well, that has answered my question from eons ago as to whether mine was PD or not!!!.I have 6 speed..and a big thingy under the bonnet!! That'll be your head then!!! not likely - wouldn't fit :( :(
  6. no problem - hope it helped
  7. may be a silly question but have you tried disconnecting a wire from the temp switch on the wiper arm to check if its that??
  8. flap stuck? I have to say that we never turn the climate control off so I don't know how cool the air gets without the ac
  9. but how could they distinguish between nitrogen in the air and nitrogen from the air-con - isotopic analysis?
  10. true too much nitrogen in the air, none at all in fluorocarbons
  11. do the revs fall away as you hold the clutch in?
  12. just had a read on the can and nowhere does it state fully synthetic only problem with the comma oil is that it comes in 4.5l - I like to have some to top up - during the year
  13. this years bottle actually says 'synthetic technology' on it - previous years said 'semi-synthetic' there was a thread on this IIRC

  20. Did look into this at the end of the three year Ford warranty but the ones I could find them excluded some importatnt bits and had a sliding scale of cover - the more miles covered the less they would pay towards parts (labour was covered).
