  1. I know, I've read that. Its just hysterical! Has anyone (to your knowledge) ever had an apology or recompense from Ford over this issue??
  2. No I didn't. I saw that one and bid early on. I contacted the vendor, who was not prepared to put any warranty on it at all! He said if I wanted a warranty he'd sell me one at the full retail of
  3. OK, someone's gotta sort out the rip-off recon prices on these compressors. Best for a recon seems to be about 280 quid! and
  4. Hi Jeff, I did the glowplug job in the dark with a lead lamp and couldn't see too well. I didn't break the cooling circuit so would not expect an air-lock. Its either a duff sensor or bad connection as you say. When I get a chance (preferably in daylight!) I will clamp off the pipes and get the unit on the bench to have a proper go at it. In the meantime, it continues to work so I'm not in a great hurry. I suspect that the unit would shut down completely if both temp sensors went o/c or indicated an over-temp. John
  5. Right....I'll just wait for the carpet to catch fire ;-)
  6. Only if you correctly define the search criteria! A search for satnav gave 429 hits (and I read about 50 of them before getting bored). A search for centre storage box gave 2 hits. If you get things just right it works great. Trouble is, people have different names for things. Excellent link! And what a fantastic place for a sat-nav! Oh yes, I've just got to do it! :16:
  7. Go on then.......buy one! I dare you!! ;)
  8. To be quite honest, I'd be thankful its working at all! So many of us on this group are living with knackered compressors at the mo! However, if you go to Halfords you can get a top up kit yourself, (or just a gauge) which will measure the pressure and tell you if its fully charged or not. John
  9. :D ok... point taken....I've edited the post adding the word "possible"
  10. Eerrr....no..sorry, except that its the most widely viewed one and people ought to know about possible scammers! ....and Maghulls sort of ok....I've driven through it a couple of times (fast, with the windows and doors locked) :D ????
  11. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...57019&rd=1&rd=1 Dodgy or what?? No rating, doesn't take paypal and a huge shop full of bits!! Hmmm........ Oh yes, member since 7th November 06 and trading from Maghull nr Liverpool....... anyone going to bid??? I think not!
  12. Just thinking that the centre dash storage box would be a handy place for a hide-away sat-nav system. When you opein it, there are notches (3 I think) at left and right. You could imagine a cross bar sitting in those to support the unit. Anyone know what they are intended for, and whether there are any standard bits that would work in there? John
  13. Thats an interesting theory, and one that would be worth looking into further. As my dealer has stated that 8/10 galaxys have had new compressors fitted, I wonder if its a Ford modified part design failure. Trouble with trying to go further is that the SD7V16's (as far as I can tell) are now made in Japan and the website is not very informative at all. I was really looking for a proper specification (interface drawing, pressure, flow, etc) to see if it was worth designing an adaptor plate to take an alternative unit...probably with a slightly longer belt. What I don't know is whether other similar compressors are any better. It could just be that the problems lie with the molecules of R134a being so much smaller than the old R12 hence pump clearances having to be very tight? I've contacts with a landrover dealership and salvage yard....It would be handy if one of theirs would turn out to be a reasonable match with better reliability!
  14. Oh very funny! hehe
  15. Just check you haven't got a loose plastic shield in a wheelarch which is rubbing on the tyre!
  16. can you borrow a different 'puter with just the free shareware on just to try it?
  17. Oy, I asked first!
  18. Showing your age there Gooner ;-)
  19. Depends what the vibration sounds like....if its high frequency then could be something snagging on the tyre, if its a lower frequency and regular knocking sound on hard lock it sound like an outer cv
  20. Make sure you knobble all background tasks, esp anti-virus etc. Had similar probs and this fixed it.
