i had a bad knocking on mine for a while thought it was drop links so waited for the mot, it turned out to be the track rod end and it was well and truly knackered, once replced not a sound  mot tester said they are common fault on the gal, so probally better to get it checked out first before you start changing any parts.

Aux Belt Tensioner - Warranty Or Not
raymac replied to alwayshorizontal's topic in Trainee member help
just as a matter of interest how much did it cost you do have the job done? and would you have had to pay any excess if the job was covered by the warranty company? -
i'd say you got a very good deal there for whay they done, to pick it up twice and repair it and service for just over a

could well be a hose as someone suggested earlier, i personally don't think it would be head gasket/skim as driving at a steady 75mph it is ok, if head gasket was banjoed then it would overheat at all times, are you losing water? if not then that also suggests head gasket is ok,hope you sort it soon :D

Air Recirculation Questions.
raymac replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
why not leave on recirc for say15/20 mins then return to auto for 5mins then back and forth as you journey along  while we are on the subject of recirc ,when you push recirc button what difference does it make to the fan speed and is there a noise of recirc flap operating? just trying to find out if mine is working -
Thanks i am grateful for any suggestions, as i am at the point of getting the head skimmed this week and a new head gasket, as i have run out of ideaswith it. a few people have have had the same problem on this site but with no luck as of yet, so that will be my job today i will check all the hoses, thanks again Jack , having read your posts and the symptoms i think it might be worth going down a cheaper route first and that would be changing the waterpump, although it is not showing signs of leakage it could well be the fins on the inside of the pump have broken or just worn away over time, personally i would try it and if it cures it then bingo if not when you have had the head skimmed and gasket done you will also have new pump fitted :(

i would be inclined to change the glowplug first and see if that works rather than buying a second hand one that will have the same problem when you fit it :D -

i would remove the glass on safety alone, if that slips down when not connected and you've got your bell ringers in the way ;) you'll have to give up the piano lessons and flog your rings on ebay :P
