  1. Its ok folks im back ! Not affended at all , just thought it was getting a little out of hand thats all , Seatkid you didn't really have a cat did you ? Mum don't smoke dope it will clogg the arteries and you will have a heart attack ! i know honest , try putting it in cakes its safer lol. :16:
  2. :P Bloody hell this is getting OTT now , can i just say i mean't absolutely nothing by my last post , i was simply joking . I did and do not want to affend any members at all on here , my own or anybody elses mpg IMO is really not that important after all if we were all of the same opinion life would be very boring indeed so i think i will leave now , cheers for the chat . :16: P.S Seatkid sorry to hear about the cat mate....
  3. :P your full of gas kev ! , don't you bloody start , whats wrong with gas now LOL ? seriously though i really do its time to call it a day now especially as these diesel guys just stick together , your all wrong and am right ! :16: :P :P :) Please note lots of smiles .
  4. I too thought this was a decent discussion with the usual banter and nothing more . People will make their own minds up and at the end of the day and will opt for whatever they feel suits their needs at the time , i was simply voicing my own opinions of what i thought was a option for some of us . I for one have been quite suprised how versatile this type of bus has been and i can assure you it has a hammering every day . I shall definately be considering another after this maybe the 150 bhp diesel as i miss the shear pulling power or torque lets just hope its as reliable and economical as the petrol , time will tell . Anyway this is what forums are all about discussion and individual opinions and i have no probs with any members on here after all we are all here to help each other. :48: :16:  :16: :P :P hope thats enough smiles.
  5. well, I put it down to a healthy lifestyle, stunning good looks, high IQ, sympathetic nature, a little bit of good luck and the fact I am a damn good driver! Did your mum tell you that or ave you been sniffing the gas ?
  6. QUOTE assuming cost of conversion at
  7. Quote No, its not a skoda.....but it does 100mpg (rounded up) Just imagine what it could do gassed
  8. Just the type of stuffy old i,m right your wrong reply i should of expected really , as long as your satisfied then thats ok ? READ the post fuel prices will vary throughout the uk.Asked YOU for an average mpg TOWN ONLY and YOU quoted 38-40 average . Cherry picking to make a case now thats just nasty NO and not mentioning conversion cost , people read the posts ONCE THE CONVERSION HAS PAYED FOR ITSELF .Town driving can vary agreed but what has Diesel against petrol in traffic got to do with anything ? , Maintenance and insurance , my maintenance if anything is less and my insurance is
  9. Please see above post , once the conversion has payed for ! This post was initially aimed at nothing more than to make other petrol owners aware of the possible savings to be had if they so decided to go gas and yes all that i am really concerned with was the
  10. QUOTE : IMO 36mpg minimum 38-40 mpg typical Thanks Seatkid for you honest opinion , just carried out an experiment with my own mpg on GAS just to see if i have been working this out wrong since the conversion anyway for what it is worth here are my findings as follows : Tank empty alarm sounds on 322 miles , this was full to brim with 62 litres Fills tank to max again with 62 litres ( 12.4 gallons) 322miles / 12.4 gallons equates to 25.96 miles per litre of gas Price of diesel in my area 97.8 pence/litre (
  11. Can someone tell me what a 1.9tdi would achieve mpg around town driving only , realistic figures please ? thankyou.
  12. Drive a diesel then Kev ? , Lets not get carried away with statements that are at best optimistic and at worst misleading , would however like to see your workings for your economy figures.
  13. Yes i would like to clarify when I have used the term petrol equivalent then i am taking into account the fuel price difference when filling the tank which can be as much as 58 pence/litre however fuel prices both lpg and petrol obviously differ throughout the country . I have also taken into account the mpg loss when running on gas compared to that of petrol so therefore the figures i quote are actual .
  14. QUOTE : Remember no piont bragging that your lpg car is cheaper than a diesel, when a diesel can also use it. I don't think anyone on here is bragging about my mpg being better than yours but simply voicing their opinions on a cheaper alternative for those of us on here who run petrols . I thought after all that this was what a forum was all about and not slamming everything on here thats lpg related or doesn't meet diesel criteria !
  15. Do they make a petrol mk3 version then ?
  16. My own gas tank is 77 litres with a maximum fill of 58 litres due to saftey regs ( expansion ) it is fitted in place of the spare wheel which now is in the boot but you can specify size, type and location of tank to suit your needs .The system fitted at the moment is latest romano sequential system these systems have their own ECU to control them and will run on full auto only switching to petrol when your gas has run out . ( led display gauge is fitted so you know what your tank has left in it ) To run on petrol you simply press the button at any time and you can switch back and forth should you wish , compared with the older systems the loss of mpg when running on gas compared with petrol is next to nothing my current average is approx 27/28mpg combined this gives a petrol equivalent of 56 - 60 mpg . With regards to gassing a diesel gal i have been informed by the person who carried out my installation that diesels with not only benefit from improved mpg but also a decent power increase hence a good option but i personally have never actually driven a converted derv as yet .I do not watch the fuel gauge or drive around trying to get max mpg but i do do a lot of miles my galaxy runs much smoother than on petrol and my own conversion will have paid for itself in about 10 months hopefully the price of gas will continue to be less than half that of petrol and i will then see the real benefits ! i will most definately look at this option again when i come to change cars. Not trying to start an argument or mine does more than yours simply shareing my own experience lol...
  17. Like you i believe LPG at its current price difference has to be a winner , even over diesel although you will never win that argument on here lol. I travelled from liverpool down to south wales only last night leaving with a full tank driving at normal speeds not trying to save fuel etc and stopped to top up at junction 30/M4 cardiff gate all i could manage to get in the tank was
  18. though with an LPG Conversion a Petrol equivalent of a possible 100 MPG,???? I already run a state of the art system on a LPG converted 2.3 and get what i believe is fanatastic economy better than that of a diesel in my opinion and from what my wallet is telling me but i do think you are being a little optomistic in your figures .
  19. quote I had a mate who had a 2.3 from brand new, when I had my new Mark 1, and he did 70k in 2 years and could never get anymore than 23 mpg. Don't know about these figures but i think maybe you mate had a problem with his and should have taken it back to fords no more than 23mpg ?
  20. What Skoda and queue in the same sentence lol , what queue ? :D
  21. Rockdoctor how is it it cannot be used in the chunnel , this is a professional fully certified installation and i was looking to maybe use the chunnel later this year looks like i maybe on the slow boat instead then ?
  22. Big Kev please explain , i seem to be missing something myself
  23. Hi Neil at present the bus is fitted with the biggest tank i could safely fit , 77 litres although you can only fill it to approx 60 litre due to safety regs , this is fitted in place of the spare wheel and slung outside under the rear . I have a rather expensive bike rack bolted to my towbar so i have modded the tow bar bracket to accomodate the filler also rather than drilling any holes in the bodywork . I have a very large dog in the back most days so the rear two seats are out in the garage . At present the spare is in the rear but is standing up and secured to the rear of one of the seats with two straps this is the easiest option if you want to carry a spare , its well secure and the seats can still be used without any probs its also takes up next to no room at all . I suppose you could always carry a can of mousse if you didn't want the spare.
  24. No am too old so i'll quit while i'm ahead
  25. What  ok i'll say nothing in the future , that is some serious miles from a bus.
