Red Light Flashing Centre Of Temperature Display
tiny replied to kwackerman's topic in Trainee member help
Is the water level in the header tank ok? I know you say there is no apparent water loss, but have you checked the level in the tank or are you looking for leaks? IIRC that light flashes if the level is low. -

Wobble Whilst Accelerating
tiny replied to Coxsey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Could the knock be the engine stabilizer, roll restrictor bolt or whatever its called? -
The 10p tax rate, the state of the economy(anyone bought a euro recently?), road fuel taxation, road fund licence, immigration, lack of action against islamic extremists and their followers, the undermining of our christian based society whilst pampering those who would have us live under sharia law, the pensions crisis, the offloading of local authority housing stocks, underfunded overstretched NHS And most of all? GORDON BLOODY BROWN From me, a previously life long labour voter who can, hand on heart, say that at this point in time I can not see the day I will vote for them again.

Do a search on the forum, the auto boxes are infamous for their reliability problems.

There is a plastic bezel between the winder stalk and the door card (see photo) Slide it in the opposite direction to the way the winder handle is pointing (it will move about 5mm or so) and it should just slip off. Dont be tempted to lever it off, they break!

Gear Selection Problem
tiny replied to Michael Ward's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It sounds like a worn synchro ring, if so your probably best looking for a second hand gearbox as a repair could be costly. -
Theres definately at least two sizes of rear disks, I replaced mine last year and I would imagine the caliper is different for each.
-
Whilst I have no experience of galaxy caliper sizes, I can tell you that the last service exchange caliper I bought from a motor factors (not a galaxy one tho') was about the same price as the second hand one you are looking at! Measure the diameter of the brake disk and phone a reputable motor factors, they may be more helpful than the breakers.

According to this previous post the Ca (Calcium/lead) batteries were fitted from 09.99. They still contain lead, hence the Pb symbol. The old batteries were marked Sb and are a Lead/antimony battery. Ca Batteries

Drivers Door Problems
tiny replied to Michael Ward's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I would definately look at the switch first, these are usually "earth switching" basically meaning they will complete an earth circuit when the switch is operated (door open). Try removing the switch then touching the wire to the car bodywork(unpainted area such as door striker) to see if that operates the said functions. There should be a little rubber boot around the switch and if these get lost they can alow the ingress of water and subsequent corrosion (I know a couple of mine are AWOL). However, is the door light mounted in the door itself? (mine doesn't have such a thing) If so, then at least part of the circuit is in the door and depending on how circuit is wired this could still cause a problem if there is a broken wire in the A-Pillar/door harness or for that matter if the bulb itself has blown. This would be the last thing to look at though, the switch at the bottom of the B-pillar would be the most obvious. -
If there is a protest I'll join , if only so I can have a placard saying, "Gordon Brown your a c**t"

Hi there and welcome. In answer to some of your questions, The speaker grills are a simple fix, they are a just a couple of quid from ford and if you do a search on the forum you should find plenty of posts on the subject, there is no need to take the door cards off if you are careful. Speaker grille replacement Fuel refill click, doesn't do it on mine, is it at all pumps? Perhaps the petrol station you use on a regular basis has fast fill rates, these can be more temeramental on a whole host of cars. If your windows are steaming up easily, its possibly because you have a water ingress problem, do a search on pollen filters, these are a famous cause of water ingress. Although in my experience and with a lack of air-con they do tend to mist up more than most cars. Have you got the air stuck on recirc'? This would also cause it. Pollen filter FAQ

Broken clips? You shouldnt need the door card off to check for broken wires, the wires that fail are in the rubber boot that is visible when you open the door, immediately between the 2 hinges. BTW, the clips are around 30p each from ford -

The fan that is spinning, is it the fan within the PSU or the one in the actual computer case? Either way the PSU is probably working, when they die they create no power whatsoever.
-
PSU = Power supply unit They often have a fan built in which is a good indicator as to wether or not it is working (fan spins PSU should be ok, No spin no worky!) If you remove the side panel, it is the cube shaped item that is usually in the top corner of the case, with the power lead going into it and several sets of leads coming out, a couple to the motherboard and one each to your drives (possibly with a couple of spares) They are fairly standard items, the most common PC is an ATX form factor, this basically refers to the size of the motherboard, and are normally held into the case with 4 screws. They can be bought for as little as

Give trading standards a buzz, your statutory rights have quite obviously been infringed as the car is not "fit for purpose".
-
Dead PSU? Is there any activity inside the PC at all? Do you hear any fans etc? Im assuming its a desktop PC. If not then I would suspect the PSU, the trouble is, when they go they often take out other components too, motherboard, CPU etc What make is it (emachines for instance are quite prone to PSU failure)?

Mine was doing the same on the drivers side, turned out to be broken wires in the loom between the A pillar and door (a common galaxy failing)
