Roof Mounted Unit & Dask Switch Blanks
strouf replied to springen's topic in Customising your Ford Galaxy
You must be talking about the sunroof control blank..Don't mess with it, as you have probably found out, the quality of the plastic parts there is not the best... KIA , DAEWOO, HIUNDAI and SANYIONG use much better kind of plastic for their interiors !!! -
Ι have already tinted all other glass surfaces, and it makes a HUGE difference.. For the windscreen I was thinking the same (lightest tint), but since money is not a problem, I'd rather go for the more "proper" solution.

Summer is soon to come, and having a windscreen of the Galaxy size is far from ideal for the Greek climate ! So, I was thinking that the new athermic (or heat reflecting) windshields would help lowering the cabin temperature. I could have expenses covered by insurance, but I have no idea if such a part is available ... Any ideas?

I have bought and succesfully programed a flip blade key from SEAT. Asked for an Alhambra key, but they use this kind of key to many more SEATS and SKODAS (octavia for sure )

Drivers Door Mirror
strouf replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The Galaxy mirror is definately different from the Alhambra's. I have swaped them recently, as I liked the el. folding option and I 'm sure the glass will not fit... -
Hi all, and a happy new year !! I put my 10'' screen and dvd on the roof a few weeks ago. I chose to do it the more difficult , but more "secure " way. The roof lining cannot support this kind of weight, at least not more than a month or so. The proper way of mounting the screen is to the roof itself. Problem is that there is not a "handy" cross member where you want it. (or at least where I wanted it). I have aligned the screen with the front seat headrests, so I put my own custom made cross member. First I removed the roof lining (really easy job to do, just takes time. Make sure you wash your hands before touching the lining, and the kids are not there!!) Then I bought an aluminum T shaped bar (really cheap), cut the correct length and bent it slightly to match the curve of the roof. Secured it to the sides of the roof with two small metal screws and applied a thick layer of silicone (before puting it into place ) to the upper side, where it contacts the roof, to prevent noice or vibration after time. The original thought was to screw the monitor's base plate after I had reinstalled the roof lining. But then it came easier to mount the metal plate of the monitor under the lining , put the lining back in place and press it upwards so the four long studs of the mounting plate make their way through !! I 'm happy so far with the result and confident that the screen will endure the childrens abuse.. Too bad ,I did not think of taking any pictures while doing the job, I will post a foto of the monitor in place soon...

Relay/motor Behind Climate Control Fascia
strouf replied to dipsomaniac's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Happy new year ! It's a small fan located somewhere behind those little grills on the CC fascia. Sucks air from inside the cabin , to measure it's temperature. -

Is the non-working key , an original ? If so , it should be reprogrammed . This can be done by owner if TWO working keys are available. If your duff key is an aftermarket, most probably the chip is missing....

Missing Part Identification
strouf replied to strouf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
My car was produced May 04, and it is originally a six seater. There is definatelly no mounting point,it looks as all the mounting points and belt guides are placed on a metal plate that is missing ! I thought the body would be the same in all versions of the Mk2...Cannot understand why making variations of roofs is cheaper than adding the un-neccesary plate anyway -

Missing Part Identification

Any news Nick? -
Hi all ! After adding one more seat to my Gal, I'm now trying to fit the roof mount three point seat belt . I have the belt, I'm ready to cut a hole to the rooflining, (already factory marked for cutting), BUT.... There's definately something missing from the roof. There is no place to secure the belt reel and front anchor. Looking at the Tis and then the ETKA, (couldn't make the Elsawin work though) came across this part (#8 in the att. foto) : It looks like what I might need , but since I never saw the missing part, I cannot tell. Went to VW dealers, they did not have it of course, must be ordered to Germany! Can anybody take a look at the attached foto and/or his car and see if this is the correct part to order? Headlining can easily be lowered (just enough to see the seat belt mechanism) by undoing the two plastic screws at the back end.

This sure is an easy way to mount the monitor to the roof. What is that "strong adhesive" you used? What is the size /weight of the monitor ? I was just now looking for a way to fit mine. There is only one roof brace that is close and can be used. Still I need one more securing point.

Nice trick ! Now that I know, I can work at a ford dealer java script:emoticon('', 'smid_18') :16:

???? Could you explain this , please?
-
Yes, these electrically folding mirrors ! It's a "plug n' play" job, once you have all the pieces! Have no idea about the price of parts , a friend is changing his leased Alhambra, and we're swaping the mirrors, powered quarter windows etc. Thank you all for your reply, had seen Gooners post but it did not show when i searched for leds !!!
-
Cheers everybody ! I'm changing the door mirrors ,will fit new ones from Alhambra that fold in .Problem is that the switch that comes with them has the red lighting used on the Alhambra. Is it possible to change the leds to green ?

Another Reception Problem
strouf replied to strouf's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Hi Vr6, thanks for your answer... TA is off, and the whole interference thing will only last for a second. It's not always news or music, just another random station! Will check the rds settings again and turn everything off. The system does not really work in Greece, anyway! What about the window antenna? Is this any good? -
Hi all, there's my new thread about my problems with the fischer price radio.. Do you have any idea why my ice 6000rds is tuning to a different than the chosen freq. for a second or two, and then back to normal? I listen to music, then two seconds of news, then back to music. Is it supposed to be better than this (car is new)or I'm just the lucky one?
