  2. Turn the radio up lol! That's what my other half would do.
  3. Cut into damaged area, slide a piece of heatshrink along cable, now solder cut cables together, slide heatshrink over soldered area and use the wifes hair drier on hot to shrink, jobs a good un,, heatshrink you can buy a pack of assorted lengths, colours n sizes from Halfords for a few quid. Clive
  4. Parts2clear my rear discs n pads cost 37.95 inc postage, mines a 2.3 mk1, very fast delivery also. Clive
  5. Got all parts from Ebay also and well chuffed with price and quality of components, saved a fortune!
  6. Just done all of mine, would suggest getting the brake wind back tool off Ebay 23 quid as you will need it for the rear discs, you can do the job in a pair of hours, make sure handbrake is fully off.
  7. First check lamps, then connectors, if still no joy check for voltage with ignition on and indicating, if no voltage present then move on to flasher unit, try a new one! If no joy time to attack the stalk!
  8. Try a scrapyard, couple of quid.
  9. Don't panic about the mot as it will not fail on air bag light, it's still an advisory and not a failure, just had mine done, check all dust covers though, drop links, bottom swivels as they are now testable, if the components are ok you can buy replacement dust covers, just a little hard work but saves tons on labour!
  10. Check all four abs rings to make sure none are cracked as a cracked ring or loose connection may activate the abs.
  11. Cheers for that info will look them up.
  12. The picture I saw was a complete front centre section with four round headlights, I will try and find it again on the internet and send you the link.
  13. Your problem with the rear door is the wiring in the rubber gator right hand side, mine was the same as yours and put up with it for years, until I joined this forum, you will find plenty of ways to repair on here.
  14. Hi, I have seen a photo of a mk one with twin headlights and would love to do the same, but like you don't know to get them from, if you find a supplier please let me know.. Clive
  15. I had the same problem on my 2.3 and after close inspection it was bottom nearside had started to weep, rad welded her three years ago and still holding!
  16. I thought I would try to reset first, if not then strip and repair/replace clockspring..
  17. Can't say for sure there, but I would have thought that the kit in the doors would have stayed the same, remember to get the clamps on the glass in the right place, I did mine a little loose and powered up the glass, that way they adjusted themselves, then nipped up the clamps, good luck. Clive
  18. A trip to the breakers yard with cutters and tools to take the door card off a gall, take the good wire out of the door and the rubber gator, probably get the lot for a tenner. Clive
  19. Hi, has anyone used the following tool to reset dash airbag light, CAN VW AIRBAG RESET TOOL OBDII OBD2 CAN CAR TROUBLE CODE READER/SCANNER Model U281? 20. Hi, I did my drivers door last year with a replacement from a very good breakers down south here called silverlakes £30, well worth it and an easy job, glad I did as looking at replacing the cable looked a bitch.
  21. Hi, when you say it's a replacement screen and not wired up, is it a pucker heated screen? If so the wires/connections are under the small removable sections of dash left and right on top of dash, not a solution to flap but may get your screen working.
  22. It has to be the insulation breaking down and bare wires touching between the pillar and door, try the windows with the door open or while opening it, if the problem disappears it's the wires. , good luck
  23. Hi, I've petrol 2.3 ghia X, best car I ever bought, had her converted to Lpg over 5 years ago at a cost of £1,500, never looked back got my outlay back in the first year as I travel a lot!! With Lpg at 75p per ltr I save stacks, got the economy of a diesel, a fast and responsive petrol engine, she has now done 220.750 miles and still gets me into trouble, got blipped by speed camera last night!! After reading about all the problems the diesels have on here I will be sticking without 2.3 as this engine just keeps going on and on, anyway good luck in your search.
