Check the bonnet switch. These are prone to failing due to the wind moving the bonnet up and down when travelling at speed, this wears the switch.

Vibration or wobble under acceleration is normally a sign of dry CV joints. -
Parking Sensors Don't Work
chromedome replied to Danny Barratt's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Look under the front passenger seat to see if the control box is under water. If so do a search for water in footwell. -
The last screw will be down the side on the headlight near the front edge of the wing. It's a long way down and needs a long screwdriver. Only undo it a couple of turns, DO NOT REMOVE. Once you get the light out, check that the headlamp levelling motor has not come apart. I could be the motor is knackered and allowed the reflector to drop. They are fairly easy to change and, if I remember correctly, cost about

A Different Kind Of Surging Engine
chromedome replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Had something similar on a Mondeo. If you've got air con, get the compressor checked. On mine the compressor was seizing and every time it cut in felt like someone had attached a caravan to the back of the car :D Try driving with air con off and see if the problem goes. -
Air Conditioning - Back Vent
chromedome replied to turnip's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You only have rear air conditioning if you have vents in the roof above the second and third row of seats. -
Beeping Noise When Opening The Door.
chromedome replied to lydanial's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Had you left the indicator switch in the on position? If so, when you switch the ignition off the parking lights come on and this gives an audible warning when you open the door. Probably completely wrong but just a thought  -
Easy Oil Extraction

Found this http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=119542 A bit expensive but does brakes as well. -
I don't think anyone on this forum will give a 100% guarantee of a fix. They just give their best judgement through personal experience or facts picked up from the forum and other places. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take a chance. If it doesn't work please don't blame anybody here.

Thanks for the reply, at least we've all had a good laugh  -
I've noticed recently that my profice shows "Warn Log...0". This makes it look that I'm about to be warned about something. I've checked in my profile and can't find any reference to this message. 1. What does it really mean? 2. Can it be removed? Thanks

Galaxy Oil Mixing With Water
chromedome replied to pcshak's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sounds like a blown head gasket. As advised, remove the head and check everything. -
If it only happens when the engine is cold it could be glow plugs. They are also needed to assist cold running not just to start the engine.

Windscreen Wiper Stalk Controls

I think there is a wiper parking relay but I don't know which one it is. Perhaps someone with the TIS disk could look it up for you. -
Braking Headlights
chromedome replied to dipsomaniac's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Check the brake light bulbs. They are double filament and you'll probably find that the two elements are bridged. Therefore when you put your brakes on the lights come on and visa versa. Had it before. -

Error Code 3 On A 6006e Unit

I think Error 3 is the head unit looking for the cd changer. -
Abs And Brake Warning Lamps On
chromedome replied to Dave-G's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
This seems to be true about the ABS. Others on the forum have said that after working on the ABS a quick trip around the block resets everything. -
Perhaps you'll get the answer you want on the Focus site, here http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showforum=67

I'm not an expert but..................The physical engine change would probably be ok, however, you would probably need a new ECU, dash controls, vacuum pump, etc, etc. One of my neighbours was considering converting a Renault and ended up buying a diesel car instead. Hopefully other members will give more detailed advice.

Radiator Cold, Engine Stinking Hot
chromedome replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
That sounds like an air lock, yes keep the engine running with the cap off until the fans cut in. Increasing the engine speed can also help to "bleed" the system. If this don't work then it's probably what other members have said. -
Radiator Cold, Engine Stinking Hot

You may have an air lock. Did you run the car with the filler cap off the expansion bottle until the car got hot? This should let air out of the system. -
Heater Booster Above 10c?
chromedome replied to g4hlf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Same here, the temperature sensors are probably very low tech with a high degree of tolerance either way. -
Had a quick look at the TIS and it says the cushion and backrest are removeable. There are some electrical connections for side airbags etc so it's not like the old days. The TIS section is quite detailed, perhaps someone could paste it on the forum, I don't know how sorry.
