  1. Plastic trim along bottom edge of windscreen not secured properly? Taps the screen as your speed builds up. This has been covered before and the symptoms sound like yours. A bit of fiddling normally fixes it.
  2. You may notice excessive wear on the inner or outer edge of the tyre. So if you leave it too long you may have to add the price of a new tyre as well. :)
  3. Unfortunately with metallic paint you have to spray a complete panel to get a good finish. In your case could be whole bonnet and bottom or top half of the door. This of course starts getting expensive. Have you got protected no claims on your insurance?
  4. Happy New Year and Good Luck for 2007 to everyone on the forum. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the info and advice given last year.
  5. VIN Plate location, a bit difficult to describe. Whilst looking under the bonnet, go to top left area near the left bonnet hinge. There's a deep hole, I think it's the scuttle drain area, and you will find the VIN plate all nicely covered in dirt and dust. The VIN plate should have the colour code on it. Happy hunting.
  6. A lot of people use here http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/
  7. Vanbursta, notice you use T.C.Harrison, Peterborough like me. Have they bent your sills yet? Done mine six times now.
  8. You used to be able to get a repair kit. It was basically electrically conductive paint. You had to look closely at the lines on your windscreen, with a magnifying glass in my case  and look for a tiny break(s). The paint was then put on the break with a tiny model brush and hey presto, if it was the only break, it worked again. Try your local car factors or the internet. Try this link http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criter...=5m11&source=15
  9. The oil for a TDI PD Engine should be to VW Spec 505.01.
  10. Had the Galaxy serviced today and guess what.......................they've damaged the sills yet again. I'm onto Ford at the moment raising a case against the dealer. I've had three Galaxys to date and they've damaged the sills on every one. Notes have been put on the job sheets to take care but it appears they take no notice. About six times this has happened, I'm so angry and I know I'm not the only one it happens to.
  11. When I bought my Galaxy it 8k on the clock so I asked for it to be serviced prior to me picking it up. I am now coming up to 15k and the car is telling me it wants servicing, I would expect this to be at 18k. So my question is, can you change the service intervals from 10k to 15k thus the dealer disquising the service? It goes in for service on Thursday, one year, so your comments are most welcome.
  12. I had a problem like this on one of my other Galaxys. The dealer sorted it. It had to have a new filler assembly as some valve within the assembly had failed allowing fumes into the cabin. I don't know if the filler assembly can be stripped down as mine was replaced under warranty. Maybe someone else can give more information.
  13. DON'T REMOVE THE BATTERY TRAY, IT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE/GEARBOX.
  14. I think this is what you mean. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...pe=post&id=1695
  15. Sounds Ok to me. The pedal travel will probably reduce as the pads and discs wear in. Just had the wife's Focus brakes done, disc & pads, and she had a bit more travel than before. Now she's done a few miles the pedal is normal again.
  16. I've got an ordinary box that you can buy almost anywhere for about

  18. Try www.powerbulbs.co.uk
  19. Just do a Google search for HID Kit, you'll the H4 kit for the Mk1. It's a complete replacement for lamps, they are High Intensity Discharge lamps and need a ballast to lift the striking voltage to about 50KV (I think that's right). Once fitted you'll need your headlights realigning. The lamps should last the lifetime of the vehicle. Now are you sitting down..........................they cost
  20. You can get an HID kit, expensive though. Very, very bright in the dry but I'm a bit uncertain about wet conditions.
  21. I didn't think that 130BHP was available at the date of your vehicle.
  22. My cills were bent in all four places. Not sure what they did to fix them. A week was a long time in each case but you know what main dealers are like. I would think a couple of days would be more realistic. I now put a big sign in the car asking them not to raise the vehicle on the cills and also give them a copy of the recommended jacking points taken from the TIS CD. Got a weird look from the mechanic when he got in the car but so far so good.
  23. Hi I've done a search but can't find the info. We have recently bought a 2002 Focus, the one with the indicators in the headlight assembly. How on earth do you change the nearside headlight bulb without dismantling the whole car? :16: Thanks.
  24. You just need to remove the screws and it lifts out. What normally happens is the plastic breaks where the spring is tensioned onto the main body of the box. I don't know a way of fixing it, maybe fibreglass or similar, but you won't get a lot of change out of
  25. It sounds like the glass guides are tight. Spray some silicone on the guides to see if it helps.
