I have my TomTom on the right hand side of the dasboard, makes for easier viewing, and is powered from one of the radio feeds. You can thread the wiring from the radio, across under the fuse box and then up behind the side panel to the top of the dash. If you're feeling brave, I wasn't, you could try and get a feed from the fusebox. Hope this helps. REMEMBER: DON'T LEAVE THE TOMTOM OR MOUNTING BRACKET IN VIEW UNATTENDED UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR WINDOWS SMASHED. TOMTOMS ARE HOT PROPERTY.

Don't rely on this as the answer, as informed by my Ford dealer mechanic...........actually he is very good and helpful. Most alarm problems like this are caused by the bonnet switch. As you drive along the bonnet moves up and down very slightly because of the air flow. This movement keeps operating the switch thus making it wear out. A new switch normally resolves the problem.

Total Lack Of Drive

Crushed sills..................I too make the garage aware of this issue. They put my concerns in black & white on the job sheet, I put a big notice in big red capital letters on the dashboard and you guessed, they still bend them. :D -
What Type Of Headlights?
chromedome replied to HullHornet#30's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I understand that the levelling switch is not fitted on vehicles with zenons, I think you would know anyway as they are incredibly bright. The headlights have levelling motors inside. I would have thought it unlikely that both motors have died at the same time so check fuses, etc. -
Cannot Adjust Headlights
chromedome replied to b318isp's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yeah, that's right. Tip..............Put a thin piece of card under the headlight and over the bumber to prevent the mounting bracket scratching the bumber when you remove the headlight. -
You can get the headlight levelling motors from a Ford main dealer. When I last bought one they were about

I would have thought that the MOT Inspector would know the vehicle should have an airbag and subsequently fail it. Safety is paramount, get it fixed asap. Do a search for clock spring and airbag.

I'm sure I've read on this forum that there is a controller that works with the wiper motor, does the parking, time wipe, etc.

A stick of TNT...................... Seriously, I've just looked at mine. What a job, however, get as many fingers as you can under the bottom lip of the cover and pull hard, it does only clip on. Watch your knuckles, says he with finger stuck in mouth......

Help! No Brake Pressure
chromedome replied to Galaxy_Quest's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
When you pushed the calipers back did you release the bleed nipple to drain the excess fluid? If you just push the calipers back in forcing the fluid through the system, you may have inverted the seals in the master cylinder or even worse screwed the ABS. -
As you can see from my post I am well up to speed on this subject. You would of thought a Ford authorised main dealer would get it right, no................had three Galaxys and they've bent the sills on every one. I've even written to Ford Cutomer Services about their incompetence. Apparently when a four point lift is used, it's the arms of the lift that bend the sills. It's cost them about

Mine have been bent 5 or 6 times by the main dealer so they have always paid for it. I even put a big poster in the car and instructions are on the mechanics work sheet "Take care not to damage the sills". Not much hope here............ I know the guy in the repair shop quite well, surprise surprise, I think he said about

5 years is the rule of thumb for cam belt change on most low mileage cars. Every 2 years, change brake fluid. Not too sure about coolant, I think 3 years. I wouldn't have thought water pump was changed except when knackered. Someone else on the forum will know more.

It would have had to be serviced annually to maintain the warranty, even though 10k pa wasn't achieved.

Don't quote me on this............. I believe is was one of those moments that Ford had, you clip the key behind one of the bumpers in case you lose yours when out and about. Of course the car thieves haven't got a clue about this

Total Clutch Failure

I'm pleased that you got something back from Ford, well done. I assume you wrote to them? -
What speed is your engine idling at? Sometimes if too fast reverse can be difficult to engage.

I put some nice aluminium dust caps on my Gal and done the up tight with the little tool supplied. Two days later some little bugger's had them away, I'm sure I've seen them on their bikes. So if you can't get them off in the future, ask the brats in your area

Have you got a sun roof and do you park on a slope? Just wondering if the sun roof drainage pipes are blocked and the rain water is running out through the light fitting. You can check and fix any blockage with a length of net curtain wire.

I had the same thing on a car a few years ago. I had rumblings and all sorts of noises. The tyre eventually blew out whilst I was driving round a long fast bend, frightening....................

Top Storage Box Removal
chromedome replied to chromedome's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Blimey, what a fast reply. Thanks Matt will give it a try. -
On the MK2 there are two storage boxes on top of the dashboard. Please can someone tell me how to remove the passenger side storage box. I've removed the two torque screws but it still won't move. Thanks.

Total Clutch Failure
chromedome replied to andymet's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If the car has a full Ford Dealership Service Record then you should have a good chance with Ford Customer Services. I've dealt with them a couple of times in the past. I found it best to write to them rather than phone. Be polite but firm in your approach. I've normally asked for them to pay for parts or meet me half way with the costs. I don't think you would get full recompense. You would almost certainly need proof of the vehicle's Service Record. Hope this helps. -
When you pushed the caliper pistons back, did you undo the bleed nipples to drain the excess fluid or did you push the fluid back through the system? If you pushed the fluid back through the system you may have damaged the seals in the master cylinder.
