Hi all just wondering what everyone thinks about wind deflectors on my mk1 galaxy do they work are they worth the £30 I may pay for them it says it helps when it rains as when I have a car full in the rain the gal steams up virtually instantly and the air con isn't that good in the summer so I have to have the windows down to keep cool I know the air con needs re charged but was wondering if the deflectors would kill these two birds with one stone and ideas would be very appreciated thanks

MAP (mass air pressure) it is found in the ECU on the mk 1 galaxy's my tube that led to the map was a little loose on one end and this lead to the car running ok but when it was under pressure i.e up a hill or overtaking it would go into limp mode (felt like the turbo wasn't on the car) really slow and no power I had a car full and went to overtake a wagon when it went into limp mode and going up a hill I had to pull back in then pull over turn the ignition off back on then was fine again
  3. I could be wrong someone can correct me on this but maybe the actuator might need adjusted to kick in earlier I don't know this for certain as I don't know when the turbo should kick in my 90bhp gal the turbo kicks in around the 2250rpm to 2500rpm mark
  4. sounds like alternator not charging put volt-meter on battery start car put lights heated windscreens on blowers etc and you shouls be getting around 13.5v to 14.5v anything less or more alternator is not working as it should
  5. as far as I knew once a airbag is deployed it rips throu the seat so it then means that it's just as easy to buy a new seat with the airbag already fitted ?
  6. the growling noise I have the same on my gal I was thinking it may be the exhaust (the middle box) or back box mine look a bit on the rough side but it doesn't blow had it up on the ramp and checked but the insides might be goosed hence the growling will let you know if it helps once its done I think my noise is around the 2000rpm-2500rpm then goes off I have heard that the key fobs work intermittently before they pack up completely

I wouldn't have thought that removing a back box (a restriction) would slow your car down I've heard that removing your C.A.T or D.P.F will increase power by about 15 % so on this basis I would be looking some where else may just need a fuel system cleaner ran through it (redex) I just relised your turbo kicks in around the 2500rpm mark maybe it's that ?
  8. I would try soldering the crimps first then see what the wire feels like after that if it's still too hot the may need re-newing
  9. could be a broken wire or a loose connection some where on the charging wires as when there is a established current from the alternator this light should go out

  12. It maybe a leak in your heating matrix inside the car like a brown/orange colour like water consistency check your water level from time to time and see if it only appears at certain times i's when engine is hot/cold blowers are on/off

I would say it sounds like the air filter blocked??? which side of the intercooler is ''the big oil pipe'' off and if there is oil in the intercooler there is a problem with turbo (possibly oil bearing in turbo gone) a bit odd that it won't run unless this pipe is off maybe a pic of this pipe would help !!!

  15. Try lifting the front completely off the ground get another person to try turning the steering side to side (in drivers seat) while you keep a hold of the offending wheel this allows you to see any play or hear a clunking in the offending track rod end

  17. I would say flat battery too try putting jump leads on and wait a little then try again see what happens

  19. Also if the track rod end is tight i.e nuts nipped up tight and there is still play in the track rod the it sounds like the rod end needs replaced can you feel the wobble throu the steering wheel or is it just the front of the car shaking ?

Hi all a few little problems with my aux heater I need to change my glow plug I had the heater out from under the car but was struggling with the screws that keep it together they are rusted to the point of no return think I will have too drill them out and put new in does anyone know the sizes/threads so I can order the screws and glow plug the unit is a Eberspacher D3WZ does any one know where I can get one from or the actual part no. so I can go to local parts place thanks for any help

Hi all wondering if anyone can help I have noticed the last few days my aux heater is smoking really badly I first noticed when one morning I pulled up to a round about and had to wait there for a minute or so and in that time the whole outside of the car was in a big cloud of smoke (I thought the oil seals had gone on my turbo again there was that much smoke) until I got off the round about pulled in turned the engine off straight away as I did last time the oil seals went but it was still smoking so I checked underneath and found it to be from the aux heater everything seems ok but it smokes like hell anyone got any ideas is it just the glow plug or something like that once the car has warmed up it seems to be fine but the heater isn't on then any ideas thanks this is a pic from today not as bad as the other day tho
  23. hi smudger the same thing happened to me when i fitted my universal remote central locking kit i checked every thing it was all ok exept the drivers door locking, untill the drivers side window (electric) stopped i re-newed all the wiring in the drivers side gaitor and window works and so does the drivers side, before i would turn the key in the door it would lock/unlock the drivers side only but went around the passenger side and it would do all the locking/unlocking exept the drivers side
  24. the flasher unit (relay) flashes fast when a bulb is out so wouldn't worry about that i would check the wires/connectors as it sonuds as if something is loose hence the intermittent poblem maybe the connector on your stalk worth a try
