  1. Hi Graham, according to the Galaxy brochure for May 2004 the multifunction wheel was offered as an option on the Ghia only and contained remote controls for the audio and cruise and IIRC was priced at
  2. Hi Mo4, it looks like a Mk2 to me, model change came in Sept/Oct 2000 IIRC. Andy.
  3. Just traced a similar problem on my Maverick to a bent pin on the alternator where the small 3 wired plug is attached to. Has your alternator been disconnected recently?. ;) Andy.
  4. The Touran is the Zafira sized VW mpv, the Toureg is the VW 4x4 powered by a V10 motor. ;) Andy.
  5. Hi Nick, further to yesterday's post; It might pay you to visit Towsure in Southampton. They are on Hawkeswood Rd., Northam Bridge. 02380339980. They have a good reputation for their towbars and fitting service. :) Andy.
  6. Hi Nick, Here's a reasonably priced bar: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-Galaxy-Towbar-F...1QQcmdZViewItem :( Andy.
  7. IIRC you only need Vag-Com to enable the warning light for the trailer indicators that is in the instrument panel. It might be worth checking your owners manual to see if there is a specific relay or fuse that has to be in place in order for the trailer wiring in the rear quarter panel to be active. :( Andy.
  8. What do they call you?........'tripod'
  9. Any advance on 4? Saw a Vectra today supporting 4 England flags, 2 on each of the rear windows.
  10. Hi MO4 whilst I admire your determination INHO I think you are trying for the wrong time of year for both the Alton Towers meet and Savernake. At the end of July alot of people will be thinking of places further a field. It is the time of Summer holidays, 2 weeks in the sun...etc. Some people will have been and come back again, to miss the time when all the kids are off, so money might be tight. Those with kids will be getting ready for when the schools break up. I think you may have more luck later in the year when people may need something else to look forward to before the ravages of Christmas hit the finances. I hate to see you banging your head against a brick wall. :) Andy.
  11. Hi John, the tester is a 'Steinel' Master Check 3 which has an insulated metal probe at one end of about 1 mt. of wire and at the other end is a handle with another probe and a series of lights -6 and +6 side by side then more lights for 12, 24, 50 etc. volts. When I said a 'dim' 12 volts I meant that the -6 light was bright and the 12v light was just glowing, in comparison to the 'strong' 12v when both the -6 and 12v bulbs were glowing brightly. Hope this helps you to help me. :) Andy.
  12. The shape changed in Sept/Oct. 2000. Try to find a towbar that replaces the interior bumper bar as these are usually the easiet to fit. You have to remove the bumper cover and then the towbar bolts in place of the bumper bar. Any bar from a Mk2 should fit. IIRC there have been discussions on here before about Mk1 bars fitting Mk2's, do a search on towbars but extend the search period. :) Andy.
  13. OOPS!!! Having tried to investigate the above problem further I seem to have caused some sort of mal-function. :( I connected a volt meter to each of the 3 wires in turn with the ignition on and then again with the engine running. The grey/orange wire showed a dim 12v both times, the brown/white wire showed nothing both times and the yellow/black wire showed a strong 12v both times. Not really thinking about it I then plugged the connector back into the alternator with the engine running. On starting the car today everything seemed fine until after 30 secs. the alternator warning light came back on and stayed on. On further investigation when the ignition light comes back on it is accompanied by the revs. dropping and the engine working harder. Has anyone any ideas what the problem might be, apart from 'If you dont understand it fully, leave well alone'. All info greatfully received. :( Andy.
  14. IIRC people were just as sceptical when the French decided to have a crack down on rear-mounted bike racks that when loaded obscured the rear lights and number plates. There were a lot of frustrated people lined up outside French ferry ports trying to re-arrange their bikes to avoid on the spot fines and the possibility of not being able to continue with their holidays. Sometimes they mean it............. :16:
  15. 1. Andy 2. Badminton, S.Glos. 3. Had three Galaxies, now driving a Maverick 4. 3 in 6 years 5. Definately, finances permitting 6. Normal servicing costs, tyres etc but no major expenses/breakdowns with any of them 7. Agricultural Craftsman
  16. Probably depends on how good your French is. Would you be able to explain to the nice Gendarme that you have the satnav but not the camera database? BTW have you and your Dad got your route sorted yet? :20: Andy.
  17. Here is a copy of 'The Letter of the Month' in The Caravan Club Mag. for June: 'I have just read an article in a motoring magazine regarding the use of camera and radar detection devices carried or fitted in vehicles while travelling in France. They are totally illegal, whether they are switched on or not, and being caught in possession of one can result in a very hefty fine of around
  18. I've made my mark! :20: Andy.
  19. As its a little quiet in the lower reaches of the forum I hope its OK to post this in here: I want to wire a 12S towing socket in to my 2002 Mk3 2.0 Maverick. It is the type that has the relay near the battery and needs a 'trigger' feed from the ignition to switch the relay. I've been told that the wire must be live with the ignition but NOT when the engine is cranking and that one of the thin wires attached to the alternator should fit the bill. Looking at TIS there are 3 thin wires in one plug on the alternator two of which (brown/white and grey/orange) go to the 'Powertrain Control Module' and the other yellow/black which goes to a 15amp fuse in the 'Battery Junction Box'. There doesn't seem to be a wire that directly links the ignition warning light to the alternator like there is on the 3.0L Maverick. Could anyone say which of these wires I could use or any others that might work. :23: Many thanks, Andy.

  23. Error 3 on a 6006E, according to my Audio guide, is an internal fault and you should.......'See your Ford dealer'. ;) Andy.
  24. With a tear slowly rolling down my cheek I'll second that!! ;) Andy.
  25. ....and the rear number plate lights. :P
