Did the wires try to move though???..did it look as if there was a slight movement???. If a motor is gone it wont/shouldnt make any noise at all..mine didnt when mine went. The wires can kink as they go round the cog at the top if the wire is out of alignment some way or pops out of the gap it goes through at the top in the cog.You need to see if there is the slightest bit of movement in the wires or the clamps as they try to move. As for central locking....do you have a fob that has a button on it to lock/unlock the doors?? If you do it may need reprogramming..there is a FAQ for this... Or the battery may be dead in it... Or the chip inside may have been lost. -
Spare Wheel Carrier Repairs

Just coz we a car forum dont mean we cant talk about other things. ;) -
Dave-T......i will merge this post with your original thread on the problem. It helps not to keep starting threads to do with the same thing as they all get read, plus people can see what was the problem before or any correlating problems. A tip...if you click on "View new posts"...you can see if anyone has replied to your previous posts. Mumof4 Admin and moderation Team.

sher....i had FULLRUN TYRES 215/55/R16 on my gal and they were 97Ws IIRC.(reinforced)....i did put it on the forum when i got them..they are directional tyres though. p.s...the figures i quoted were for a 115 MKII...i have figures for others aswell.(in my trusty manual)

If they are seized..then dont try and use them..otherwise you will burn the motor out..(equals lots of pennies and selling one of the kids to pay for it) i did a thread on this as i unseized mine..as have others...Try squirting WD40 down the spindle..if that doesnt work..then either they could be seized or a problem with the motor..either way..me thinks your linkage has to come out!!..have fun...:)..brute force is a no no as is useing a hammer..time and patience with copious amounts of WD40 are needed for seized wipers....a lot on here have broken their linkages ( i didnt ;) ) so please be carefull with it.

Specification, Electric Problems - Window Mki

If it is a ghia..the badge will say GHIA on it.. On the bottom of the window you will see that the glass is resting in 2 square type clamps..one at either end.....the clamps are attached to the regulater..(runners).There is silver wire cable that runs up and down the regulator and it is criss crossed in the middle..(the criss cross is covered.) This wire that goes up and down can break/chaff..or get tangled up if too slack. In this pic you can see one of the clamps on the bottom left of the regulator.. Now the motor itself is behind the blue panel on the top right. Please bear in mind that mine was a MKII Ghia. What you need to do is check that all connections are secure and try and open the window and see what happens then let us know..if the motor is working then it has to be something else.. Please also bear in mind..that when a regulators wires unravel..break...it can be nigh on impossible to sort out as i found out!.You have to get it all just right if they unravel and get the tension right and the clamps in the right place.. Just see what happens when you try and open the window electrically and let us know. For the central locking to work remotely you will need a remote fob. -

some figures from my trusty handbook.. Ther permissable gross weight may be exceeded by 85kg and the permissable axle load by 50kg provided that driving speed is restricted to 60mph. for a 115 manual transmission: permissable gross weight = 2420..(includes passengers and any paraphanalia) permissable axle loads:front=1240, rear=1280. The kerb weight is the car and its driver., and the fuel tank filled to 90 % (1666-1956) Payload = 464-754 by the way..the TDi chucks out 310 according to the handbook.

Is the window clamps still attached to the runners??..as the window is held still be two clamps at the bottom of it and these go up and down the runners....sometimes the cable can become a bit worn or even snapped..if you can hear the motor..then power is getting to it.Id check inside the door by taking the door card off to see if anything untoward is going on. Do you have a remote key??or just a normal key? -
