Warm Up Time - 115 Tdi
gazza007 replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As Jeff said Ogben. I was 9 months out of warranty. Go & see your local dealer in the first instance to identify the problem & see if they will sort it out with customer services. If not call CS yourself. I reckon the worst you can get is a contribution. I needed a complete new unit, -

Are you still under warranty or just out? Even if your out SEAT should contribute if faulty. -
Warm Up Time - 115 Tdi

Well it's been well above 10 today & it's been running on mine. These beasts are unpredictable and come on when you don't expect them to, even in early summer. Even when running it can still take about 5 miles or so to get to 90 on the gauge. I find best way to get warm is to turn fan off for a few mins let the gauge rise then put the re-circ on. -
Air Con Seizing & Worn Shaft Assy
gazza007 replied to a topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Have a good moan at Ford Customer Services & demand that they will meet some of the repair costs. If you don't ask, you don't get!!!! :D -
About 1990 when I was driving a Fiat Uno 45. I filled up at my local Heron on Oldham Road Manchester. The following day I noted that the car was running very rough, anyway on the way home I noted a tanker at the petrol station & the station was shut, I was informed by the manager that Diesel had been put in the wrong tanks the previous day. I managed to get hold of the boss at Heron in London. He agreed to pay to have my fuel tank & carbs cleaned at a Marshall & Jeffery's on Deansgate Manchester. I think the bill was about

I think receiver dryer is combined?? I'm sure one of the Techie's will confirm. The gas leak at this point was my problem( After everything else was changed). I believe the connections etc get corroded. It is a known fault & Main Dealers should be aware. But most as we know are unaware. I think that Ford issued a Service bulletin that if I'm correct SEATKID posted a while back. In my opinion the system never gets Ice cold, what you have to understand is how it all works. This site may be of interest, he did post a year or so ago. Air Con John Here is some info I posted in an earlier thread. Hope it helps Gaz :o So that I can monitor my air-con performance I rang round several SEAT dealerships with various results. Eventually I managed to get a chart faxed to me with the recomended temps and test instructions. Make sure Vehicle is out of sunlight. Set blower to No 4 and dial to coolest. Close all vents apart from centre 2 face vents. Run the Engine at 2000rpm. Insert thermometer in left centre vent and engage AC. Temps should be in following range. Ambient temp(external) Output temp(vents) 18 8-12 20 7-11 25 6-10 30 5-9 35 4.5-8.5

They love trying everything rather than looking for the obvious cause. Lets face it they get paid for warranty work by the manufacturers.

See my post above. How long out of warranty!!! Can't charge for looking. Are they prepared to make a contribution? If you don't ask, you don't get My brother-in-law recently bought a Y plate 2001 Zetec Tdi. It was obvious to me that the jet wasn't working although Arthur Daley bloke didn't have a clue what I was on about. Also tried to tell me that Cambelt was 80K until I pointed it out in service book.Told him not to buy unless it was put right first but he did anyway. Longshot was that he went to Ford to get it fixed & used his claimback warranty. Wiring to sensor I think

My Aux Heater packed in Jan 2004, can was 41 months, had service done by SEAT main dealer that I now use & said it needed replacing. Anyway the Service manager had a word with SEAT Cust Services & I had it replaced FOC.
-
I've now replaced the dips(Glad I have small hands) with Osram Silver stars & have noticed a slight improvement. Saying that the bulbs that came out were Osrams. Also got a free set of sides. Diff with them is that more of a white light & more noticeable.

I've just had a new NS door skin etc fitted following a scrape. I noted after leaving the repairers that the rubber that fits on the inside of the door at the bottom is missing & the plastic strip that it connects to that runs up vertically at the front edge is also missing. I noted on OS front door that the vertical strip is secured with poppers that clip on to metal lugs that are part of the edge of the door skin. My concern is that on the new door skin there are only 3 at the top & 1 at the bottom, not all the way down as it should be. I contacted the repairers who said that he forgot to mention that they were awaiting parts as one didn't fit. All the part were genuine SEAT. Has there been a design change on the door skin fold?. I've had a look at our works 6 month old Gal & the poppers go all the way down the edge. Has anybody got a newbie & wouldn't mind checking. Or have the repairers boobed somewhere? To be honest they have done a good job on the paint, re-sprayed the full side & repaired a bad scratch on rear panel as a favour as my insurers wouldn't approve because their engineer was akward. Cheers ;)

Try track-rod-end too, as that was my problem. ;)

I'm going to order some H7 Osram's for the Dips. Is it easy to change the headlight bulbs?
-
I was wondering if anybody had replaced H7's on MK2 with a Xenon bulb that Autobulbs sell & if they noticed any improvement. Which brand did they buy?. I noticed they do their own for a reasonable price.

I had some similar problems a while back where the controls wouldn't respond apart from the fan speed. I found that if I removed unit then cable on the right hand-side that has the little lever on, everything was OK. I guess it was down to a bad connection. Sometimes I do find when turning the dial that the actuators don't always move that quick. Hope this helps

I've lost the plunger(Black Hexagonal) bit off my NSR door switch, probably knocked off by kids or seat belt. I found rubber cover & spring. Can somebody advise where to source a new bit, I presume I will need to do the whole switch. Also had an arguement with brick gate post today Expensive!!!!!

Front Screen Misting Up
gazza007 replied to dipsomaniac's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Regularly use rain X, wooks well. I will try screen X anti fog, condensation was a bugger this morning. We had some sleety rain followed by hard frost last night, a few people I know pulled their door handles off this morning. Out of interest how much is the screen x at halfrauds, seen it on-line for -

As soon as I picked up kids from school wet coats & all. Started steaming up, usually no probelm as AC looks after it but temp is below 5C so won't kick in. As Ivor said a good clean can help -
Have to agree with Italiastar Sparkie Pete. I replaced Scala Unit with Kenwood CD/MP3 player last year. Improved sound & can stick 150 MP3 tunes at 192 bit rate. But choice is yours.

Aux Heater Fix (tapping & White Smoke)
gazza007 replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had a new heater fitted last June after the original packed-up in January. I guess the old one was on its way out as this one is much quieter, cleaner & seems to come on when it should. Having a timer would be handy. If you visit Webasto web site you may be able to get some advice on timers & remote controls to start up the aux heater, I think it can also be dome by mobile phone!!! -
