  1. ??? heater panel ont to??? Clock on haff pont ont to??? :D The clock just lifts out, really. The black plastic surround is held in to the dash by lugs. Gently lever out with a screwdriver.
  2. OK, so no siezed caliper, but then the pads are probably near or on the limit, especially if the discs are worn. Check the Haynes manual (if you have one?) for the recommended thicknesses, or do a search of this site? I don't remember seeing this data, but it might well be there... New pads are about 13mm pad and 7mm backing plate IIRC. With 14mm this would only leave you 6mm of pad material. If the disc is worn, you risk running out of caliper... ;)
  3. Me too... a damn patent case, where the first judge found for us, appeal judge found for the other party. Utterly stupid. How can they take such opposing views of a simple mechanical process and whether it infringes a patent???
  4. See the FAQ regarding the fuel smell... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...amp;#entry64304
  5. Basically, the tester put your car on a 'rolling road' which tests braking force independently on each wheel. Did you look at the inner pad, or only the outer? If the (sliding) caliper is siezed, the inner pad (driven by the caliper piston) will wear to nothing while the outer looks fine. Is your 14mm including the metal backing plate?
  6. Cool dude that John, very cool. FAB was a Thunderbirds thing, wasn't it? Y'know, FAB Scott, FAB Virgil, etc...
  7. Doctor, Doctor There's a steering wheel on the end of my willy, and it's driving me nuts...
  8. My advice is... ...post this in the Technical Section (Galaxy). Mof4 could move it for you? ;)
  9. Mof4 - Is there LIVE SPERM in DIESEL then?????
  10. Yes, the odour filter is thicker than the pollen filter. You can remove the whole wiper motor and drive assembly - three bolts and the power connector - it's easy. Anyway, you will probably have taken the wiper blades off to remove the scuttle trim... You can also slide the frame and filter in separately as I explained in my earlier post. It's possible to do, but IMHO easier to remove the wiper assembly. ;)
  11. For petrol users with Ford engine, Halford 5W-30 semi-synthetic is OK. I bought it on offer for
  12. !!!***NEW***!!! From Dingo's Kitchen Do you want to be a Master Baster? Well now you can, with Dingo's kitchen baster. Available from all good kitchen shops now. RRP
  13. I decanted small amounts into a 100ml clean glass bottle and managed to get my huge hands at the reservoir by taking the plastic engine cover off aswell. It's fiddly, but the safest way. I suppose a visit to a friendly farm vet might get you a huge syringe to use which would be easier still  I use a kitchen baster. You can buy them from John Lewis, Lakeland, Dyas, etc... Wife had to buy a new one.
  14. AutoTrader or local newspapers (Birmingham Post and Mail, Coventry Evn. Telegraph, etc.) Funnily enough, the sucess rate for local newspapers is nearly as high as AutoTrader, and it's usually cheaper.
  15. It's a cracker!!!! (No, sorry, it's a pizza.) Nice one Bleeno.
  16. Sing to me, Zaffy Boy!!!!
  17. Personally I'm not keen on Mintex, having fitted that brand to a Seat Leon in the past. They glazed and squealed (Crash and burn, Mav...). I ended up replacing them with Seat genuine parts. Can't comment on how good Mintex would be on a Galaxy though. I did my rear pads in September 2006; pads were

  19. "The thong is ended..." "...but the melody lingers on..."
  20. ... and it all seems to have been done in 'The Sims 2'. Wierd.
  21. Sorry to hear about the MOT Big D. With the greatest of respect, I'm not sure I'd buy a safety critical item like a track rod end off EBay... Have you tried GSF (http://www.gsfcarparts.com/)? Or even Halfords?
  22. I'm guilty! Call me 'Anytime'.
  23. Now that they have been effectively nationalised, I'd seriously consider buying shares.
