Bt Is It Always Going To Be A Constant Struggle
El Dingo replied to Gteuk's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
... Just cancelled my last BT line. It's a relief. How can they justify charging a 'late payment charge' at 29 days after the bill has been posted? Most businesses that I deal with work on between 30 and 60 days. Anyway, I'm now mostly on-line or mobile. And my NTL (Virgin) deal is cheaper than BT. I just hope that I never have to call their customer service, which is legendary! :( -
*puts head above parapet* A worst case scenario is that the engine overheated when the hose went and the head gasket has gone. Hence the lumpy running, white smoke and petrol smell. Is the car using water again? Before we panic, though, it's worth checking out the electrics, like Bleeno said. Everthing must be nice and dry! (That's the problem with diagnosis by internet...)

Could they cross reference the Ford part no. as a double-check? Just an idea...

He might make *piles* of money. But probably only at the bottom end of the scale.

If you need a new TV/video combi my son is selling his... (The pair of them could be "double trouble"... I must admit, I would have gone *ballistic*.)

Uk's Proposed Pay Per Mile Road Tax..read
El Dingo replied to lydanial's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I think that your point was well made. <_< -
Mine = Mk2 = leather = no swivel seats <_< (no multimedia either) :19:
-
Yeah, the D5 is an nice engine as well.
-
...and I have to say that I quite liked it. The ride is good; less crashy over bumps than the Mk2, and the handling nice - steering is a little more direct than the Mk2. The car is a little quieter on the road, but there's really not much in it, however, this car was on winter tyres (and my Galaxy is on Dunlops, which many on the forum say are noisy). The engine pulls well, and has a slightly sporty 'rort' when revved - it's about as powerful as my 2.3, but not as smooth at high revs (but to be fair this car had a low mileage). The torque curve seems flatter, so there's more pull lower down the rev range, but less go at higher revs. The interior - well, the dashboard and door trims are 'of acceptable quality' (not as nice as Mk2 IMHO). The front seats seem a little weak and not very supportive, but when I came to put the third row of seats down to put our luggage in the fun really started. These seats, trimmed in a nice black smooth faced cloth, are lightweight (easy for lifting out) but the controls are fiddly and the seats reluctant to fold flat. Surprise surprise, the cover that creates a flat floor was broken. (Someone can make some money by designing a rather more robust aftermarket replacement.) I like the look of this car. However, someone had bumped this one backwards into a wall by the look of it, and the rear bumper looks awfully thin. Last summer I drove an S-Max with the 2.5 petrol engine, and that engine makes all the difference! The 5 cylinder has a real character to it, and being turbocharged has more than enough pull as well as being more free-revving than the 2.0l. Why don't they fit this to the new Galaxy? Would I buy one? Yes, but I'd look around for a car with a more robust interior first. Maybe leather would help? Also, I'd wait until they fit that 2.5.

Amazingly, this just about exactly sums up my feelings about it. :)

If the discs are grooved then the brakes will feel spongy for a while. If they are very grooved, then the sponginess will never go away completely.

Is There A Special 'galaxy' Wave?
El Dingo replied to Higs's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
There you are going on about that ship again. You're right though; I might well avoid Barkingshire in future. :) -
Ooops, you're right. I bought a 5 and two 1's... :) This is why I need an edit button. I just checked the bill, and I actually bought a 4 and three 1's, and I have about half a 1 left. Phew. So I replaced 'most' but certainly not all. Moral: Always check before posting. Sorry.

Hmmm. Rather Berkshire than Dartford! :) -
I thought that VW named their cars after winds, e.g. Passat, Scirocco? Isn't a Sharan a wind???? Anyone remember the Granada 'Spanking Monthly' special edition?

I changed the oil in mine by the drain/flush/drain/flush/re-fill method. There is no way that this can change all the oil, but you should've seen the gunk that came out of the sump. :) The oil was about
