Welcome Chronicle, Gazette and Echo readers. Oh, and Monkey Hangers. (Special mention for Peter Mandelson in the Monkey Hanger-on category.)

Funny, I never thought that BigJ would be fat. Y'know, you get this kind of mental picture... anyway. Yes, it is true. CO2 increases due to global warming, not the other way around. I have the data.

Mk2 Galaxy Parts Onto A Mk1 Galaxy
El Dingo replied to twinkle's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I could go with that - I like the Mk2 front end but prefer the Mk1 back end. Helmsman, set warp to Mk1.5! I'll bet the seats could be swapped (TeresaG had what looked like Mk2 seats in her Mk1 Si) and these are much better looking IMHO. Before I bought mine, I drove both Mk1 and Mk2, and reckon that the ride and handling of the Mk2 is significantly better, so I upped my budget and bought a Mk2. I wonder how much of the suspension could be transferred from Mk2 to Mk1? I'm also interested in wheels and tyres, as my Dunlops have *nearly* worn out. But, much as I'd like 18's, the ride quality might suffer too much. -
Bearing Noise From The Front, But Not Bearings
El Dingo replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There is a flanged shaft that runs out of one side of the gearbox. It might be worth looking at the condition of that mounting/bearing. -
How Much Does It Cost To Tax A Galaxy ?

It depends on what you are trying to fix to the wall. "For light to medium duty, you can't beat Plasplugs."
-
Close but no cigar. I think the answer is actually 'Plasplugs'. They're similar, but Plasplugs are more grippy in breeze block.

Cool. To be honest, the faster we use up fossil fuels, the faster a replacement ubiquitous 'motive power source' will be developed. (Supply and demand rules apply. Subject to carbon status. Cars may be monitored for taxation purposes.)

Surely a bottom-feeder would be in an Aquarium  Andy. Strange, but true. :(

That's really good, Bleeno. Amazingly accurate, too. I've been involved with Administratium in the past, and can testify that this is exactly how it reacts. Have you heard about bureaucratium, which can only be found if isolated in an office, and has the remarkable ability to move paper about with little effect. Bureaucratium is itself unmoveble when electrons are held locally, but can be increased dramatically in size when electrons are removed from Europium. Bureaucratium is also incredibly absorbent, being able to soak up huge amounts of the energy removed from the universe by Governmentium. Bureaucratium can be split into sub-politic particles called Quarks (sometimes also called Quorns). These are called: Up-its-own-ar3e, down-the-pan, top-o-the-mornin, bottom-feeder, strange-but-true and charmed-life.

Some Audi engines are in-line FWD, some transverse FWD. It could be that the garage is right... The engine will be basically the same, but the mountings and so on are designed for an in-line application (like the A4 and A6) and so won't fit a transverse application?

These are good points and well made. As you say 'If' we had enough traffic police, and we really don't. That's why taxing fuel works - it doesn't need any secondary mechanism to make it work. Or any more bureaucracy (although incumbent socialist governments love bureaucracy, as the employees (for obvious reasons) often become lifelong socialist voters). Unfortunately Galaxy owners are now seen as owners of gas guzzlers. Yes, even the diesel ones, which are also seen as dangerous, carcinogen generating polluters as well.

Revving Its Nuts Off
El Dingo replied to Andrew T's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Al in a thread titled "...Revving it's Nuts Off" :) Glad it's fixed. Did you take any pics? -
Just a thought Nik... does the fly-by-wire cruise take it's signal from the ABS encoder ring? If so, then an ABS fault might show up in the cruise control as well?

Would You Buy This On A Budget?
El Dingo replied to neiluk's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
The price is about right for that age, but even a bit high for that mileage, in my opinion. If this was a VW 2.0 engine, I'd say that 160k is fine if the engine has been correctly serviced - I don't know enough about Ford engines - Scorpiorefugee would no doubt have a view on this. ANY vehicle this age and milage can be difficult to sell, petrol or diesel. Buyers of older vehicles will avoid complexity, and don't usually like things like climate control, auto boxes, electrical toys (windows, central locking, etc.) and anything with a turbo. -
Gal Is Sitting Down
El Dingo replied to Galaxy_Quest's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Avenger, are you anywhere near an independent VW or Ford specialist? It might be an idea to get the car looked at on a ramp, where it'll be much easier to find out what's causing the brake noise and the suspension issue. I'm not sure I'd recommend a Ford dealership, but a VW specialist will know the Sharan and this is a virtually identical vehicle to your Ford.
