Hey, you would be one cool dude burning some rubber on the local Asda carpark at the Saturday night meet. The Nova boys would would be begging for mercy. lol Don't let any of the boys see the two child seats in the back though, as this would lose you a bit of street cred.

The M20 that I bought cost about

But its a cool fiesta  Don't forget your blue neon for under the car, blue led washer jets, blue led's in the headlights, 5,000,000 watt amp in the back and your baseball cap and lord mayors chain around your neck. And I have heard that door logos and large reflective 'flame' type graphics are simply the must have item for 2004. I would not bother with the F1 fuel cap. It still takes you 20 minutes to top up with fuel at the local BP, after joining the queue behind people buying everything - except fuel! I took mine back and demanded a refund under the trades description act as I expected to be off the forecourt in less than 15 seconds.

Just to clarify, I'm not quite sure if it just plugs in! The unit is just a small box with a few terminal contacts protuding - it looks like a large relay (which I suppose it essentially is). Anyway, you get a small 4 wire loom, and although the instructions are in German, they do seem to mention having to locate the wires for the locking motor and also a live and earth. The guy at c and r said it just plugs in, and also the box describes it as the 'M20 plug in'. I have not yet had the time to fit the unit it or tanslate the instructions properly, so I don't know if it does just plug in. Incidently the unit (M20) seems to have a fixed wireless code and comes with just one key cover transmitter, whereas the one on the website is the M320 which has a rolling code and comes with an extra key fob tansmitter. I just hope once I fit it, that I don't park near anyone on the same remote frequency

There are a couple of past threads on this available from the search. IIRC, there are 3 mentioned suppliers from mainly volkswagan kit specialists.

Its not really worth thinking about. If you need a roofbox, then you need a roofbox and any slight mpg loss does not matter. The 1-3 mpg you will lose could well be less than driving with some under-inflated tyres, a couple of windows open, getting stuck in traffic, a extra person and luggage, driving on a windy day ... etc. In essence there are just too many variables, and use of a roofbox for a holiday is not going to cost hardly anything in real terms. If your normal holiday is a tank full of fuel getting there, another to travel around while there, and another getting back - then it will still be the same. Some small ( 2 or 3 tread) steps are useful and don't forget to take them with you! And position it as close to the edge as possible for easy access. I use one that is is about 7' x 3' wide, and find this more versatile than the 'squarer' ones. No problems, noise or vibration at upto 85 mph. As mentioned, you hardly notice that it is there

I have just been reading how you can dead lock the car with just one turn of the key in the door, but you can central lock the car if you turn the key twice. Also central locking is stated as operating on the four doors, but dead locking does the boot too. I can't see why you would want to central instead of dead lock the car?

I have noticed some leads - one stated as having opto-isolation, the other as having "Electronic Protection against short circuits using dedicated ISO K-L line driver IC" Would it be correct in assuming that isolation protection is needed, but it does not have to be opto-isolation?

How To Protect The Vehicle

I may have posted this before, but I use and thoroughly recommend this chap for all your car security needs http://tinyurl.com/yrnv   -
Can anyone reccomend the cheapest supplier for the interface and cable? I found one for $79 from a US site, but wonder if there's anything cheaper Cheers
-
I find that both front door locks freeze, but for some reason the boot lock does not - so I use this on cold mornings.
-
Yes the supplier mentioned by fredt is worth contacting as the module just plugs in and no faffing with wiring and scotchlock connectors. Apart from the usual - mats, carwash gear and portable vac, you will need some small steps to reach the centre of the roof! Or one of those rotating brushes that fits on the hose. I have not seen a stick on film that does not have any bubbles, scratches or edge peel. I just wonder if the glass could be replaced with tinted if it all got vandalised? Probably cost at least the

Only pitfall is that groups of people will ring you before the local taxi firm, and you find yourself being the nominated driver for any type of outing with 4 or more people. Oh, and the internal condensation - make sure you use the air-con all the time. Finally, seach any children for hidden sweets or crayons etc, and make sure they have the same amount when exiting the car

And how do these quiet tyres compare when you slam your brakes on in the rain? Does low noise = greater stopping distance?

I just download the speedcam database from pocket gps They're updated monthly. Remember to set one of the pocketpc buttons to memorise current position, so that when you pass a new camera, you can note its location and then email the location to pocket gps, and they can update the database.

Sat Nav Not Receiving Satellite Info
_dg replied to a topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Have you asked at the forums at www.pocketgps.co.uk ? Someone may know the answer there -
Whenever I go to indicate right, I accidentally flash mainbeam. I think the indicator stalk is a little too sensitve. People think I am flashing them on. This is annoying, and if you have pulled out in front of me only to watch me speed by, or have pulled over onto the hard shoulder because the guy behind is flashing you, then I appologise

Drivers Door Lock
_dg replied to norwichbluenose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There are quite a few aftermarket ones available and all do the job, but the problem with them is that the remote fob is a separate unit and not like the ford one, built into the key. It looks like the one form C&R fits around the key, which is what I would prefer. -
Drivers Door Lock
_dg replied to norwichbluenose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Well if that is one of the mechanics, then I want them to fit one to my car and I hope it keeps breaking so that I have to return for them to have a look at it on a regular basis. -
Hands-free Mobile Phone Kits
_dg replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have the Parrot 3000 which is bluetooth, and will work with any bluetooth 'phone Wired into the radio with auto mute. You don't even have to take your 'phone out of your pocket, and the only visible thing is a small button on the dash to begin or end calls. You can control it entirely via voice command too. It works great. -
I too have this problem. I think its a common thing and there are other threads about it. I experience this in the summer too. Apart from the stuck recirculation flap possibility, I would go for the inherant design fault of the air-con whereby a small amount of moisture is left in the system which then gets blown into the car. Its a catch-22 situation, the more you use it, the more you have to use it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... Nah, don't know

Door Mirror Glass Replacement
_dg replied to Nige F's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had to replace a heated mirror on a previous car, but skimped and bought a cheap stick on one. It was crap and I hated it, wished I bought a proper replacement but sold the car before I could. True, fitting is easy, but paying for it is the hard bit -
Isn't there a previous thread on this?

Just a thought and not taking sides here, but... surely it is not the bullbars, but the 2 tonne of car behind them that is the problem? Ok, research may indicate that injuries may be worse in any similar accident with rather than without bars. But it is not the case that a car with bullbars driven by a responsible driver is much much safer that a car without bars driven by an irresponsible driver?
