  1. Don't forget to scuff the door threshold plastic with your dirty boots, and scratch a bumper corner or dent the door edge. :)
  2. It seems odd to me that Ford will fit a part that will potentially cost us less to replace than the previous type! Can I change my curved windscreen to take advantage of potential savings in future blade replacement?
  3. I do less than 5,000 miles a year and wondered if a 12 month [full] service is really necessary. The car is certainly not getting much wear, so exactly what will need changing after 12 months of very little use?
  4. I have a couple of paint blisters - one up by the roof rail and one by the rear window seal. Any recomendations for the best treatment product?
  5. Was this other battery charged? Is there any signs of power - is the engine turning or just not starting. What about the curtesy lights etc Are all the leads reconnected to the battery terminals?
  6. You've forgot to post in the other seven sections, just in case someone misses it. Every business can make a mistake, and you should take care not to let this cloud your judgement. Also we are only getting one side of the story. If you are not happy with the service, then take the complaint further, contact your local TS, or get a second opinion and obtain legal advice.
  7. Well, they use gas burners to remove it from the road so..... How much? Will it pick off, or a stanley blade and a steady hand? Followed by some polishing
  8. Just wind the window down and shout abuse whilst giving a few hand gestures - like a normal bloke does! Using the horn as a warning signal? How bizarre. Its for demonstrating your displeasure, alternatively its for fat lazy taxi drivers to honk at any time of day outside the fares house, so that they don't have to leave the car.
  9. Having read many posts here about Vag-com, I get the impression that people seem to think that they NEED to check the car, NEED to diagnose the system, NEED to check for fault codes, and NEED to adjust things. Im not saying Vag-com is a waste of time, far from it it is a great tool, but it is just that - a tool. It is not a must have. It seems common belief that it is essential to check the car every Sunday after washing and vacuuming it - else it somehow will not work. In fact the Galaxy will run perfectly well with out it.
  10. OK What about either a separate policy for the unit (or difference between what Direct line will pay and the true cost to you) This should not cost too much. Or shifting insurance to get the cover you want? Obviously you would have to weigh up the costs of a potentially higher premium againts cost of the extra you would pay for a claim. Have you spoken with someone at Direct Line and mentioned that you will consider moving insurers because of this limited cover? Or an old jumper 'just thrown' on to the dash so that it 'just happens' to cover the centre console. I recall someone on this forum saying that he would cover his dash mounted unit with a baseball cap, these seemed a good deterrent to the casual thief
  11. As you say, if someone wants to steal it, then they will. I would increase your insurance premium to cover full replacement if it is important to you. I use a removeable unit (PDA) so that there is nothing to tempt the would-be thief
  12. Use Rain-X
  13. Click on Parts, then Styling, then Electrics. Prices are POA, but I paid
  14. Will it stretch to fit on the Galaxy?
  15. Why not just replace the blades?
  16. Upload your image to Imageshack and then link it to your post
  17. I think the idea of a laminated screen is that the middle plastic layer does not break, but holds the glass together when it cracks. I don't know what the insurance policies are like in HK, but in the UK this can be claimed on the policy for about
  18. http://www.candrenterprises.co.uk/ and look under parts. The unit is a simple relay with easy connection via a specific 'plug n play' wiring kit. They seem to have removed the prices, but I paid just under
  19. That's pathetic. The Michelins on the front (and rear) of mine have done well over 20k and are nowhere near needing replacement. yes, the fastest wear i have had on a set of tyres. Ever. Apart from a 1976 Ford Escort 1100 pop which had a set of remoulds and wonky tracking. My Gal had Dunlops from new, and I had to replace the front two recently after only 20,000 miles. The rear two may be good for another 5,000
  20. I don't think that that mileage warrants a diesel, and you will not recoup the
  21. I recently noticed 'RUBBISH' on a 4x4 belonging to the owner of a scrap yard. Its the best one I've seen
  22. Do you have to shake your head slowly, while tutting and saying "Hmmm, this is going to cost you" - just to keep up the charade? Are you also implying that the computer is intelligent - "Open the drivers-bay door, GAL" comes to mind :D
  23. The Cold Ones came in a little too late during Winter, so only managed Nr 5. As we are now including downloads in the charts, a surprise entry from the Dutch electro-pop band DJ Vag-Com with 'Diagnose me' just pipped it to Nr 4.
  24. Have you searched this forum? :o In the 2004 Top 40, Nr. 3 - The Pirates with 'TIS Disc' Nr. 2 - The Injectors (Feat. Phil Terr) with 'MAF Sensor' Nr. 1 - Wet Wet Wet with 'Footwell Blues'
  25. Do you mean road wheel or steering wheel? On a previous car - Ford Orion, I had a noise from the steering. It was more of a light grind than a squeak and would occur at the same place/time when turning the steering wheel. It was diagnosed as a seasonal issue with a polyproplene washer somewhere on the steering column. IIRC, it was early summer when this happened, and only untill natural wear had occured which prevented it ongoing.
