If you are going to get involved in illegal copies, then why line someone elses pockets when you can find it on most of the common peer2peer programs?
-
Errr, your on your own :( I suggest you look for supermarkets on Roman roads, get a set of smaller hands, or replace the wheel with a Playstation control pad. :( I used to have a similar problem in other cars with a centre horn, but not now. My problem is the opposite, I can never find the small oddly placed horn buttons in time to give granny a hoot when she has just cut me up. I poke the centre of the wheel everywhere except where the button is.

What mileage, and what sort of noise? Mines dead quiet and smooth and the only loud noise I get is roar from the tyres

Intermittent Parking Sensors
_dg replied to degens's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I thought these were sealed sensor units? Possibly a loose connection or a faulty sensor -
I don't have a problem with the seat sliding as I press it well back and the seat has some self gripping clips to keep the belt tight. One thing that concerns me with child seats, is that in the 2-3 years that they are fitted, a nice dent is sure to appear in the seat cushions where the seat frame presses into it. I notice the dent taking nice shape when I take the seat out to vaccumn  Something I would also invent if I planned on having any more kids, is something to rotate and tilt the seat so that I can lift junior out of the seat without banging her head on the top of the door opening or roof. :o

I've heard that you can use Vag-com and a lead to reset your warning lights. It should not take that long over a normal dial-up, but is quicker over broadband :)
-
Wet carpets under the front seats, remote locking key (Ghia) and spare normal key both start the car, check the air con works, heated front screen works, check all the electrical things work. Check around all door handles for scratches and general wear to the rear seats and door linings - these are very popular taxis.

I had a brief try with the lead from skpang and vag-com on my galaxy. The only module that got some response was the 'instrument' module and then just some VW reference numbers came up. I noticed that the lead only has 5 pins, and these do not correspond to some of the locations of the metal connectors in my galaxy socket - ie not all the pins in the connection block are used. The OBD 2 test from vag-com stated that the car modules were not OBD 2 compliant. The lead I have is supposed to be an OBD 2 lead, but as the pins are not connecting to some of the ones in the galaxy plug, I am not sure if a different lead is required. I'll try and give the lead and software a try in another car, just to confirm if it working correctly, and then spend more time back on my galaxy.

Nokia Mobile Phone Holder
_dg replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I am about to fit my holder ( for a P900) and have found good available spaces to be limited. Mines a touch screen phone so, I want to be able to tap it as needed Vent mounts are crap, and down by the console is a poor place too. The best places to put the phone for viewing the screen are just behind the steering wheel -below the instrument panel, or down by the headlight leveling switch. Anyway, I was not happy with any of the locations, and so decided to fit the phone on a bracket to the drivers door next to the window winder switches. My holder will allow me to angle it, and the phone backwards so that it lines up with the line of the door panel/handle. Cables will then go through the door panel and rubber grommet, to connect behind the fuse panel. There is lots of space between me and the door, so it is not in the way. Incidently, I've asked quite a few people on their opinions of fixing holders to dashboards, and not many are concerned with drilled holes. Bearing in mind that phone holders are becoming more common, a good position with drilled fixing, is prefered over a discrete bracket that puts the phone in a poor position. Holes are a non-issue, but bracket suppliers want you to think otherwise! -
I don't think its a cable issue, but down to the software. I read elsewhere on the net (possibly at the forum on www.onboarddiagnostics.co.uk ) that vag-com (the software) will read all the VW parts of the galaxy, and also VW engines. But as the zetec is a ford engine, then it can not be accessed from vag-com. I'll give it a try the weekend and advise. Aparently my 2.3 was made about the time of the facelift, and may or may not have some of the facelift electronics. Obviously there must be a way of accessing the engine data, but this may be fords own software and not readily available to anyone else. I'll try and find out though

I've tracked down what I think is the best value OBD-2 lead on the net. I've just got one from www.skpang.co.uk Leads from

I agree, this IS a Galaxy forum and it has got along very nicely in the time I've been a member. I am not really interested in mondeo wheels, fiesta gearsticks or focus servicing. What are the other links? I have not found a Galaxy forum as active as this one
-
Perhaps he needs the torch to find his way back to the Mondeo section . LOL I've noticed a few posts from mondeos and fiestas creeping into the 'view recent posts' section of the galaxy forum. Don't know if this is normal though. Anyway, I thought the ford torch keys were only distributed through ford dealers.

I would get a second opinion form a garage with a [sun?] tuning diagnostic machine that should be able to pinpoint the problem and provide you with a computer print out too.

I have a W zetec, and remote locking apparently did not come as standard until the late W facelift. Incidently, the locking unit was moved from under the seat due to water flooding that area, and if you do have it, then the unit would be behind the fuse board panel. I think if you search these forums, then there is a picture of the unit to watch ouit for. In your search, you may also find reference to an alternative retro-fit module for about

I thought these alarms only armed the alarm, and not locked the doors, if you did not arm it yourself within a certain time of opening the drivers door.

Easiest Place To Wire In Gps Receiver
_dg replied to Xenonman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I not sure that an adequate live is available at the light point. Best way I have found is to buy one of those accessory socket adaptors that give you 2/3/4 extra accessory sockets and wire this to the back of the accessory socket. This then gives you the facility to plug in a number of permanent t cables for your pocket pc, gps, moblie charger etc. You then just route and hide the cables as necessary. Alternatively, you can find a suitable live down by the fuse panel, or in the centre console. The gps antenna needs a clear view of the sky, so I don't think you can keep it in a covered storage box best place for it is near a window. Mine is fixed by magnet to the back of the rear view mirror, and you don't notice it from the outside. -
Yes, the belt and pump have a different type of squeal. In my younger days, l messed up an engine by continuing to tighten the fan belt the more l heard a squeal :( l now know what each one sounds like
-
If its the belt, shouldn't the squealing alter as the engine is speed changes - especially when revved or going through the gears? As the engine warms and things expand, then the belt could become slightly loose.
-
I have one of these (though not from Lidl) and the socket is reversable
-
Yes, although the shareware version is free, I don't want to splash out

I've read on another forum that VAG-COM will not read any engine detail from a Galaxy with a Ford engine but will just read from the other modules. It only reads the engine module if a VW engine If this is the case, is this a big limiting factor and is there a better program that will read all modules on a Galaxy? Is VAG-COM suitable for the pre-2000 model Galaxies. I'm dead keen to get some suitable diagnostic software, but am not clear what would be the most suitable for my car

I asked the same question here a while back and never got a definitive answer. I think someone said that it came primed, but I am not sure if they had actually bought from Ford. It seems that you could buy it on the basis that it came painted, and then complain to Trading Standards if it doesn't !! I suggest you buy one first, and then let me know. lol

Have a look at http://www.caracterestyling.co.uk/sharan/index.shtml. Now, I think the front spoiler is a bit brash, but there is a nice rear roof spoiler for above the window. From the ones I have seen, I prefer Fords' own front spoiler and side skirts as these appear stylish, but not too loud. I don't know if a rear skirt adds anything though.

I've located a German site that sells the m320s. Its at http://tinyurl.com/242jp. On the page is a link to 'further product information', from where you can download the instructions in a French or German pdf. Now this one seems to require fitting via a cable and is a complete solution If you search this site for M20 Radio Remote Control - the Budget S (or just M20) then you will see an image of the one I have, which C&R sell for about
