Just to reiterate what I pointed out earlier. However my strongest point is this direct quote from the DVLA. "Even if a medical condition is the cause of falling asleep at the wheel, it is not an excuse in law." As stated the Judge instructed the Jury otherwise, he ignored the Law or was unaware of it. This led the jury to reach a verdict of "not proven" which means they believed it was most likely that he was guilty but thought that there was insufficient evidence to reach a "guilty" verdict. The judge misinstructed them on what was evidence and what was not.

big_kev replied to si.miller's topic in Trainee member help
Don't you mean Dec 1997 and Jan 1998 as the 110bhp wasn't introduced until Nov 1997? If big_kev's information is right then it must be 90bhp because it is a manual and the 110bhp wasn't put into a manual vehicle until Jan 1998. Don't know where you get "110bhp wasn't introduced until Nov 1997" from ! Er no ! Please re-read whate you quoted me on. ! -
How Can I Tell If I Have A 90 Or 110 Bhp Tdi
big_kev replied to si.miller's topic in Trainee member help
The early 1Z 90bhp engines were produced up until July 1996 The 90bhp AHU engines were produced from Aug 1996. The ANU 90bhp engine appeared in Mar 1999, and continued through to the MK2's although the AHU continued for a while only on the MK1's. The 110bhp AFN engines started to appear in Dec 1996 on the Autos and then in Jan 1997 on the manuals. They were replaced by the AVG 110bhp engine in Aug 1999 this was replaced when the mk2's appeared. No 90bhp were produced with Automatic Gearboxes, manual only. -

Flagged it as well out of camaradarie. You should note that it has been on the site for a year along with loads of others and nothing has been done about them. However we should also look at the reporting from the media on this and their deliberately politically incorrect grammer which fuels sympathy and misunderstanding of the reality of the situation. They refer to these people as "insurgents" an insurgent is one who rebels peacefully against an established authority. You see stuff like this all the time...people being "executed"....execution is a lawful killing performed by the relevant authorities. What these people do is plain old fashioned murder. They should report it as it is.....these people are terrorists and mass murderers....spreading fear and hatred under the name of religious fanatisicm. Parasitic scum of the earth who exist purely to spread extreme suffering to those around them.....the world would be a better place without them in it. Just my opinion....although I think most others would agree in their minds if not in their voices. -
Would you not new to change you ECU as well....there are different models.

I think this could be true after speaking to one of the Grandaughters. She can tell whether my heated windscreen is on or not from looking at the glass and seeing the "wavy effect" as she puts it. I now believe it is down to the individuals eyesight....mine is crap...always worn glasses for distance and am now at the age where I need them for close-up as well. Probably if you have good vision you can see this effect, if your vision is crap like mine, then you most likely do not notice any effect.

Sorry, talking bollox again. Should be VW Engine and Ford Gearbox

How Can I Tell If I Have A 90 Or 110 Bhp Tdi
big_kev replied to si.miller's topic in Trainee member help
The easiest way is the sticker on the Belt Cover.....just about visible below the MAF.. You should see the engine type...1Z...AHU...AFN.....quite clearly below the bar code. Note: Autos will not be 1Z or AHU....they will be AFN's on the early MK1 models. Strangely I always thought mine was an AFN ( I am sure I seen this somewhere ) but the belt cover says AHU ....I will have to dig out my Log Book...and investigate further. Probably explains why its flat as a fart... :( -
Oil Companies are well known to rip-off their customers with misleading claims ( usually downright lies ). On a regular basis they have been found to fill up the petrol station tanks of both "Premium" and "ordinary" fuel from the same tanker. In fact they have even filled competing brands from the same tanker ! Came across this useful snippet... Power Diesel ?

Using Vagcom On A Mark 2 2.8v6 (2002) Auto
big_kev replied to Paul B's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
The lead he is using contains a USB to Serial adapter. It will appear to Windows ( and hence to VAG COM ) as a "Serial port". If using VAG Com 409 or above he will have to tick one of the "Serial Ports" ( 1 to 4 ). Usually when installing a USB to Serial adaptor it will allocate port 5 or above ( although it can be changed to a lower number) Vag Com will not recognise his lead as a USB port it will see it as a "Serial port." Note: "Serial port" above refers to legacy RS232 type connections.....although USB is also a Serial connection. Hope this helps. Kev -
