I would assume any self respecting wheel theif carrys these anyway. Makes locking wheel nuts redundant and more trouble than they are worth. How many people have had their wheels nicked ....ever ? ( excluding parking in Liverpool.......amazed that the scousers still do this when over 20% of them are on disability ).

2.8 Ghia Tracking?

Nooooooo!........ They should be toe'd in slightly......unless you really like wandering all over the road. Although admittedly they will last longer if parallel......the rest of the vehicle and the driver may not ! -

Remember that the tyre pressures marked on the vehicle are the MINIMUM acceptable pressures. If it says 38psi then this is the minimum safe level.....40psi would be better. It is likely you may lose some pressure over time...you won't gain any. Obviously there is an upper limit to how much air you can put in before it affects traction and makes the tyre prone to damage. All the Gals should have at least 40psi in the front wheels and at least the same in the back....more if loaded. Any less than this you be likely to lose control on corners and wear the outside of your tyres. -

Apparently there was a rumour going around that the Leather used was actually from Dolphin skins....compliments of the Portuguese Tuna fleet. I believe it started when someone from Germany developed a rash on his thighs ( driving with shorts on ) and they thought it must have been some tanning chemicals used in the "leather seats". Upon investigation one of the technicians testing the chemicals used on the leather upholstery noticed that the leather itself was a bit "strange". Further investigations revealed it to come from a dolphin ( rather than a cow ). Somone in Portugal had a bit of a sideline business going on. Not a 100% sure on this though. What do yours look like ?

The MAF sensor will allow your engine to run better ( more power and efficiency ) . However if it is faulty it can have the opposite effect and can adversely affect performance. With the MAF disconnected the engine will still run....but will not be as efficient. You will find a lack of power and performance.....fuel comsumption will rise and power will be down.....try getting above 70mph ! Changing the MAF for a new one will make a world of difference. Also remember to check your tyre pressures...29mpg is very low even without a working MAF.

Should I Replace My Mkiii Due To Clutch Problem
big_kev replied to dellybeanhead's topic in MKIII Technical section
Its a common problem with all new diesels. Its something to do with lower emmissions when idling. This is achieved by reducing the amount of fuel to such an extent that the engine can turn over on idle but you do not have a hope in hell of moving the vehicle. I have had 2 new Golf and a Focus and they were all the same...you have to rev the arss of them to pull away as well as slipping the clutch like hell. I believe the "software change" simply removes this stupid idea and alloows the engine to run normally. Can't see the clutches lasting more than 30k if your lucky. This probhlem is obviously worse for the 1.8l than the 2.0l although both are crap compared to the older engines. -
