What Type Of Batteries In Key-fob ?
big_kev replied to sasquartch's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You can usually get these from a pound shop ( or market ) where you can get several of them for a quid. Don't pay the crazy retail prces ! -
Water Coming Out Of Clock
big_kev replied to JDF's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You are correct in what you are saying. The water runs from the sunroof down behind the roof lining and exits around the clock. There is no hole in the bodywork....this is a classic example of a leaky sunroof. It can also appear at the doors as well. As Chromedome mentioned it is nearly always blocked drainage tubes. -
Anyone Fancy Changing Their Interior

Are these compatible with air bags ? -
If its still working in 2 months time then its a good job at a good price. If not then ........

Anyone Fancy Changing Their Interior
big_kev replied to gregers's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Very nice....pity they are for the MK2 though. -
Its a VW part so it should fit.....however there may be a difference in style. Best bet is to double check.....tesco's car park is particularly good for this !

It would be advisable to use Vagcom ( or similar ) to diagnose the problem yourself. This will tell you what the problem is ( most likely faulty sensor or ring ). See www.ross-tech.com for further info on Vagcom and Ebay for leads.

Rubbish cars anyway.....

Hi John Welcome to the forum. What make, model, year etc do you have ?
-
The rear brake bulb warning light should come on with the ignition and go off when you press the brake pedal.......perfectly normal operation.....it needs to have the brake pedal pressed to check the bulbs are ok.
-
Check the frequency on the key with the seller. If its the same it will almost certainly work. Assuming obviously it is not a faulty one ( lots of them out there ). Remember you will either need to use the PATS chip out of one of your spare keys ( non-remote) with the new remote key as this will be needed to actually start the car. If you dont have any spare keys then things get a lot more complicated. ( and expensive ).

Yep....shows my ignorance again....probably because I usually drive old bangers and am always 10 years at least behind the times. Does sound a good idea if its designed for this....save my dodgy back getting under the car.

Yes, but mine is the right angle.... B)

Also an Auto box is sooooo much nicer to drive.

Rear Fog Light Stuck On - Help!
big_kev replied to fixedorrepaireddaily's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I would still be looking at the switch as the most likely problem. -
Oil extractor.......diesel engine.......Noooo! Diesel oils contains detergents which will stick to all the burnt crap that makes it past the pistons into the engine. Most of this crap will be contained in the oil but a substantial amount will form a nice thick sludge at the bottom of the sump. It will be very difficult to lift this out using an oil extractor and hence it will accumulate. Take out the sump plug and drain the crap out of the engine.

Strange Problem With Tdi - Coolant

Could be knackered head gasket and air leaking into the water system. Is the water actually boiling hot or is it just warm ? -
Alternator Output Voltage

You went to school ! :o -
Should that be MINIMUM recommended pressures ? Ok ....good point. The 15" tyres are not as low a profile as the 16" and as such combined with the lower air pressure may not require to be reinforced. As mentioned previously reinforced tyres are required to cope with the higher air pressures involved when using low profile tyres ( which they nearly all are....possibly not some of the disputed 15" ones ) on a shalaxy. The load index should not be confused with Extra Load or Reinforced as "load index" is dependant upon the vehicles gross weight whereas RF/XL is dependant upon the tyre pressure. Admittedly tyre pressure is partly dependant upon the vehicles weight as well but more important is the tyre size and type which gives you the air pressure.
-
There is obviously a difference between 94XL (or 94RF) and 96 or 98 load index tyres. Otherwise why bother calling them 94XL's ? If you use RF or XL tyres then you know that they should be ok. If you choose to use standard tyres and your sidewalls pop out when cornering then you know who to blame. And as I have mentioned previously the black ones are the best.

Don't know about the Mk2's but the Mk1's are dirt cheap from the dealers ( cheaper than some being sold on Ebay ).

Hello Brand New Here
big_kev replied to polishrose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Is that your profile Hun ? -
Reinforced tyres are required for the high pressures involved ( greater than 40 psi ) . As well as the fact that low profile tyres will be used. This applies to all Mk1/2 Galaxy's regardless of engine type or size.

Check all the little plastic pipe thingy's attached to or anywhere near the air filter. You will most likely find one loose or disconnected.
