  1. Very similar but may be different ......best to physically look and see. The control unit (hedgehog/resistor ) are identical though.
  2. Fuse 24 ....( probably ) You may just need a new glowplug though !
  3. WTF ? How did you not see the blower when changing the hedgehog ? Note : this is a mirror image of a LHD picture ( stole it ! ) Or another pic below ( yes I stole this picture as well ) The red hedgehog unit is clearly visible at the lower left . The blower fan is encased in foam insulation.
  4. Quick....but not quick enough.... ;)
  5. A divorce would be more financially beneficial... :D
  6. Thanks Normal Operation....it will (try to ) vary the fan speed to adjust the internal cabin temperature. Give the blower motor a straight 12v feed and see if it works
  7. try here http://www.gbdriver.co.uk/index.php?main_p...;products_id=17 probably loads of other places do them as well.
  8. It's never too late....cheers Saif. 21 again :D and again :D and add a bit more on ;)
  9. Still no excuse for not wishing me Happy Birthday though ! ;)
  10. Ah ! ........this will explain the 56 km per gallon ;)
  11. Your own fault for letting her use it.........hope you have learned your lesson ;)
  12. The control unit supplies a variable ( PWM ) to a transistor ( MOSFET probably ) inside the "hedgehog" unit. The "hedgehog" unit then acts as a variable resistance in series with the blower motor. The end result is pretty much the the same as having a "resistor pack" as used in the manual models. Easily checked by measuring the voltages in and out of the "hedgehog". If the Fan works flat out when you provide a 12v feed to it, then its not the fan.
  13. Is the rear fan the same make model ( ie can it be swapped to test it ) ?
  14. The "hedgehog" unit has failed, as mentioned located behind the glovebox ( obvious wiring connected to the blower motor, only 1 screw to remove it. ). Most likely you will find it has burnt out connections ( you may be able to repair this by resoldering and cleaning the contacts ( remove the red( or black) plastic cover ). Alternatively if its a rush job you can nick the one out of the rear heater (remove internal trim panel) as they should be identical and you can then replace this at a later date. "Let the rear seat passenger huggle together to keep warm". On the Climate Control versions failure of this unit will kill all fan speeds, On Manual air-con versions failure of the similar "resistor pack" will only kill the slower speeds.
  15. The only info. I can see on this is that the users manual says this is a dealer job.
  16. Before we get carried away with potential dodgy electronics........ Please remember that nearly all accidents ( 99% +, if not more ) are caused by the pilot control unit malfunctioning .
  17. Don't get me started about this f&*#ing Labour Government :) :D :D
  18. Components are always prone to failure at some point. If the throttle pedal position sensor ( whatever type ) fails then what should the control unit do ? Should it assume full throttle position ( i think this is a bad idea ). Should it assume mid throttle position ( I think this is a bad idea because if the pedal is not actually being pressed, or lightly so, then when the driver presses the pedal halfway down this would be seen as the control unit as full throttle ). Also if the pedal was pushed past this it would be seen as "more" than full throttle ! The only safe option is to cut of the throttle altogether. Maybe their should be a fixed service interval where the pedal sensors are renewed or at least inspected for wear and contamination to minimise this problem.
  19. Its the only possible choice available. The system has detected a fault and is unable to detect the position of the throttle pedal. Can you imagine the consequences if it "guessed" the position using faulty or incorrectly reading sensors. After a restart it no longer has to guess the throttle pedal position as its has the off position as a reference to measure from.
  20. Interesting news item... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8367141.stm I will make sure the wife reads this.
  21. Well done in fixing this Phil. :) Yep he has his uses :) I think the first port of call will be WD40 on those 12 year old bolts ?
  22. mmmmmmmmmmm WHAT.......?
  23. Crazy... Lets hope they don't injure themselves..
  24. A proper driver reversing ! WHAT......?
