Climate Control Leaks Oil In Driver Foot Well
big_kev replied to jonny239's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Nice link below for you Dashboard removal pictures -
Should do if its just a faulty connector problem. Will NOT do if its the result of a crash.

Its the latest version ( F-series ) ....either D5Z-F or D5W-F ( can't remember the difference, however its the F at the end that matters ). This was fitted to all Shalaxy's around 2005 onwards. The Glow Plug has a fixed lead and a different design of combustion chamber is used. Bad news is that these units have a history of the Control Units packing up. And yes if you disconnect it all your coolant will flow out unless you clamp or plug the hoses. It should sit be inserted into the coolant circuit between the engine and the radiator. The coolant should circulate through the unit whether it is working or not.

Aux Heater Timer Module
big_kev replied to Mirez's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
No I wouldn't think so. Looking at similar setups ( water heaters in camper vans and boats ) the coms is tapped of between the heater and the timer unit. The timer unit itself has no comms output.....assuming its basically the same as the Mk1's. I am still thinking of doing the same to my Mk1 .....still collecting the bits. Oh yeah....got to fix my heater first... :) Wonderful job youve done by the way :46: -
Are Auto Galaxys Still Prone To Drive Shafts?
big_kev replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
What makes you think its the drive shaft ? (especially the passenger one ! ). I thought the drive shaft problem was mainly with manuals ( especially Mk2's :46: ). Is it not much more likely to be a problem with the auto box ? Maybe MAF as well. Unless there are other symptoms ! -
Southern Softie..... :46: We're on the beach up here.....now that the sea has thawed out...

John, You changed the glowplug yet.....snows gone..... :(

Remote Central Locking
big_kev replied to bfc1001's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I take it that you don't have a spare working key ( non-remote ). If you did you could nick the PATS chip out of it. Otherwise you will need to take it to a dealer/locksmith/auto electrician or similar to have the key recoded. You will need a new PATS chip...the dealer etc may be able to supply one, or you could obtain one from an old key. Probably best to have 2 keys done )for obvious reasons).....also if you have 2 working ones you can program a 3rd one up by yourself . -
Seems a bit expensive....try shopping around. Try here...below http://www.towequipe.co.uk There are others as well.

I think its partly dismantled on the right hand side which gives it a weird look.
-
Go wiggle some relays :D I would start with 167 bottom right ( possibly upper left middle ).
-
Just checking the obvious first. I don't think this is a PATS issue. The original fault was caused by the PATS chip being lost from the remote key. This flagged up a log message....key not recognised.... This message was harmless and just meant that a key with no PATS chip attempted to start the car. The mechanic clearing this just removed the message from the log....it would have had no effect on the PATS system. The spare key has a PATS chip which works fine. The more recent log message....key not recognised....was most likely caused by someone trying to use the remote key ( I would have done the same ).....this could have been anytime between the mechanic clearing the original log and the present time. Again the mechanic clearing this would just remove the message from the log. The original missing chip PATS error could be steering you down the wrong road. Does it fire up for a few seconds and then die....or does it not fire up at all ?

Galaxy Wanted , Vw Or Seat Must Be New Shape
big_kev replied to jamesey's topic in Current Best Deals (Galaxy)
Didn't you get my email then ? Sadly too late now......it went for a bargain price. -
Auto's are lovelly to drive ( anyone who says otherwise probably hasn't driven one, or is a boy racer...loony ! ). MPG is theoretically lower than manuals, although in practice there is little difference as Auto's tend to be driven more sedately. A Tdi Auto will still get vastly better MPG than any Petrol manual. Only thing with Auto's is that when the gearbox does go wrong it can be expensive to rectify. If you've got a good Auto you won't want to go back to a manual......ever !

Ignore my previous posting......talking carp again. There maybe ( probably is ) a High Altitude Sensor associated with the booster heater. Will get back to you on this.

Think I recall some problem with the security where you may have to leave the ignition on for 30 minutes ( without starting the car ) to clear this. However not 100% on this, can't find any info.

Glad you got it sorted. Worth doing a scan on the other modules to see if there are any other faults present. -
Remote Central Locking
big_kev replied to bfc1001's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have you taken the remote apart to change/inspect battery ...... If so the PATS chip has probably fallen out.
