  1. I don't care what the computer says, the MOT rules say seats/seatbelts are only tested if they are fitted. There is no requirement to have them there, you only need a driver's seat by law.
  2. The actual codes may be different, but as far as I am aware they only did one shade of silver. Bear in mind all the Galaxies, Alhambras and Sharans come off the end of the same paint-shop line in the same factory.....
  3. Sounds like agood price then. Was it an ex-rental or something?
  4. If you bought it from an Indie trader then it is about top-whack. If you bought it from a Ford dealer then you did OK.
  5. Yes it should although some fading may have occurred from UV exposure, although this is not as much of a problem as it used to be.
  6. The 2001 population of Kent was 1,329,653 so don't worry, your not alone!
  7. I think the mounting frames are the same, it is hard to tell otherwise as all the various colours and trims are changing all the time. You will need to take the lap belt of off the center seat if required though.
  8. I think it could be your temperature sensor telling the fuel and glow-plugs how cold it is. My glow plug light is on for about two seconds. My other worry is the timing having slippped on the crankshaft pully, it is a known occasional problem on early diesels.
  9. Well if it is any consolation, I have tried and failed to get my full version of VAG-COM to communicate with my D3W. And I have even checked the impedance of the connection to the diagnostic socket and found it to be within specification. I think that it just won't talk to VAG-COM, but am considering trying a few older versions of the software to see if it makes a difference. Short of that, you are more than welcome to come to my house at a mutually convenient time and try substituting a few parts from my working heater.
  10. You can get a thump from the fuel tank if you have about 2/3 a tank of fuel.
  11. Have you checked the connections to the metering pump
  12. We have a strange situation in Northampton where with some items they go by how many. So rip out your old bathroom and you have a toilet, cistern, bath, basin and pedestal and your fine. Shower tray or bidet too, then you have more than six items and you have to pay! But take a hammer to the cistern and pedestal and put the broken stuff in a rubble bag or two and thats fine. Take out an old kitchen, flatten the units and thats OK, but take them down still built and you pay if there are more than 6 items.
  13. Yes they are the same, but the estate is different.
  14. Yes, I agree. In this case if he recovers two thirds of the money then I think he will have had a fair result. Ideally he will recover it all though.
  15. Agreed John, but those rights are against the retailer of the goods, not the manufacturer, but as ultimately the manufacturer will pick up the tab from the retailer so still worth a go.
  16. I think it will mean lots of threads on here all discussing the same thing....
  17. The scaled road tax only applies to post 2001 vehicles, yours will be
  18. 1998 1.9TDi, 120,000 miles and still appears to be on original clutch....
  19. Should not be yours though, you should be looking at a reduction I think, although the full list is not out yet. EDIT: yours should be in band D,
  20. To be honest no, but does it matter? as of now I am closeing my account on this site so post all the mindless drivel you want and use what ever avatar you like Sorry, who are you again? :(
  21. I drove all they way form Northampton to Perth in January (400 miles) at 70ish and the heater was running at low output the whole way.
  22. I can assure you the temperature sensor is connected. If you remove the connector to it and bridge the terminals with a mini-fuse then the heater will always come on regardless of the outside temperature. It is in the link between the alternator and the heater. And everyone seems to struggle to get VAG-COM to talk to the heater in early models, so your not alone there.
  23. Hey, someone concerned because their heater is working correctly! Paranoia is a terrible thing when it comes to auxiliary heaters........
