Locking Drivers Door!
Masked Marauder replied to broom broom's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
if the starter motor was to not disengage, and stay engaged while the engine was running, could this cause a fire, as things over heat?? just curious MJR I guess in theory it could but it is highly unlikely because of the way the starter motor works. When you turn the key a small amount of current passes to the starter solenoid which is basically an electro-magnet which then energises. With some starters the solenoid pulls on a horse-shoe shaped lever and that engages the drive-cog of the starter-motor onto the teeth on the rim of the flywheel. Once that has happened the solenoid connects the high amperage supply from the battery and the starter motor turns. Some starters don't have the lever that engages the gear, instead the inertia between the gear standing still and the motor spinning throws the gear forwards engaging it on the flywheel. -
I have no doubt he knows his stuff, but I ask myself, if he was not in the business of selling oil then would he be so active everywhere? But as I said initially, I have no problem with him posting and his oils are quality at a good price. Just that he could be wasting his time here.
-
I never suggested anything like that, I simply said that he posts the same stuff in the same fashion on a mutitude of other car sites. Does that make him a scammer? No. Does that make him a spammer? Perhaps, it depends on your outlook. I was simply pointing out to him that the vast majority by far on this site will only use the recommended oils for various reasons, and thus will be unlikely to buy his wares. So I don't consider that I either slated or badgered him.

I got sent home anyway. Aparantly I would be useless in combat as I shoot to soon, or something like that..... -
There are good and bad in every industry though. I had a screen changed and the fitter was excellent.

Locking Drivers Door!
Masked Marauder replied to broom broom's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The engine is most likely the starter motor not disengaging correctly, it is not a huge problem, but keep your ear on it. As for the door lock I have no idea, no doubt someone will though! -
Moderators Needed Look Here
Masked Marauder replied to Gteuk's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I could not agree more, the worst thing you can do as a moderator is to be too heavy handed, that will drive away more community members than anything else. To be a moderator is a major commitment by the moderator to the forum members as ultimately they can make a moderator's life easy, or they can make it hell! Moderators are there only because the other forum members are there and too often moderators forget that and let it get into a downward spiral. -

MIG is another car site that I hang about on. Oilman put the same post up as the one above in the same "matter of fact" way. This then prompted discussions about oils which he joined in on and followed up his first post with more matter of fact stuff about oils. At no point did he post on any other threads, just his oil ones, getting into technical stuff about oils. Then come the car show season he was posting details of the shows where his company would have a stand and be selling top quality oils at discounted prices. Indeed a bargin if that is what you need. But as I said, not many people on this site will be interested in what he is selling. But that said, when it comes to oil he seems to know his subject.

Those "enhancements" look rediculous in my opinion. I would sooner see a bit of sag than something that looks as rediculous as them. -

Wow, that is scary. The most expensive part is the compressor which an indie will supply for about -
All, This may come as a bit of a shock to those of you who know me well, but I have made the monumental decision to take a complete year off. This is not, please note, 1st April. There are a number of reasons, but the major contributing factor to my decision has been my involvement with a guerrilla group in Africa, who are fighting for freedom and justice against unbelievable odds. I have been communicating with this group for several months and will now, finally, join them. I know most of you will think I am totally crazy but I have not made this decision lightly. Nothing you can say or do will stop me doing what I truly believe in, I hope to see you again when the battle is won ... I am attaching a photo of the group ready for the struggle against their oppression. Some of them you can see their bones sticking through their skin and they appear malnourished, it may help you to understand my motivation. See you in 12 months (assuming I come back). Regards, Masked. .

Oilman, when you started posting on MIG you did it exactly the same way as this and now on MIG, all be it some time on, your subtly selling your wares. Indeed this post is just a paste-up of the first one you put on MIG. So is this just the start of another marathon subtle spamming campaign? Because if it is then from my experience of this site you will be wasting your time as the majority of users have their vehicles dealer serviced. In addition to this many, many of them are PD TDis which require special oil.

The Native American Indians believe that the night air is filled with dreams both good and bad. The dreamcatcher when hung over or near your bed swinging freely in the air catches the dreams as they flow by. The good dreams know how to pass through the dream catcher, slipping through the outer holes and slide down the soft feathers so gently that many times the sleeper does not know that he/she is dreaming. The bad dreams not knowing the way get tangled in the dreamcatcher and perish with the first light of the new day. But beware! Cheap imitations do not work, you have to have a real one made by a real indian....

I had this recently, it happened when I mixed two brands of screen wash! I think they must have reacted with each other.

Places To Put Stuff..
Masked Marauder replied to PopDorset's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Why? It would be easy to assume that that was a stupid question, however I will give you the benifit of the doubt and ask a question back. Have you ever seen anyone burn to death because they were trapped and could not get out of a car after an accident caused a small fire that spread rapidly? A 2kg Dry powder extinguisher will easily put out most small fires in a car, the second is for if the first is not enough or fails. So why not? They only cost about -
